Road Angel Navigator 6000 with Blackspot

Advantages: Speed camera warnings, accident blackspot warning, gets you there
Disadvantages: annoying audible in average speed camera area

...I bought a road angel navigator 6000 a little over a year ago now, i got it second hand for £50 as it had no sd card that contain the maps included, i was quite happy as my friend had one of these with the sd card so i figured i could just make a copy of his card, insert it and away i go. This is what i did and hey presto off we go no problem at all. To be honest i don't actually find the 6000 to bad although i notice a few people have come up with some horror stories regards the software not giving them the correct information. Its a simple basic machine that does what it says it does. I have used it on several occassions when travelling round glasgow, edinburgh and birmingham and find it to be of satisfactory use. Ok so there are a few bad points to it but you almost come to expect this with everything in this day and age...

...I purchased this Tom Tom Navigator 5 for approx 200 GBP two months back. I am an IT Consultant and am required to go to different client's sites at different locations. At first I used to print out the directions from mapquest or theaa.com and then try to follow these, but always I used to lose or miss out in between and land up searching again. This procedure was difficult if I was traveling alone as its difficult to hold that piece of paper and look out for directions etc., So I finally decided to go in for the Navigation software and I had heard that TOMTOM is the best in the market. AA Navigator Ultimate, or not so ultimate

Advantages: Combines GPS navigation with Speed Camera and Traffic warnings
Disadvantages: Software buggy, support slow to respond

...I bought one of these new devices at Halfords for £399 a few days ago and here's my experiences to date. 1 The first device they sold me had a German operating system. The staff at Halfords said that was normal. I couldn't operate it so I insisted on a replacement and the next one had an English operating system. Ignore their blurb "friendly staff can help you set it up". They can't, they're useless, they didn't have a clue. 2 There is a helpline number in the manual, it charges £1 a minute, and when I finally got through to their switchboard they said someone would call me back. Navigator 5 - never get lost again!

Advantages: Cheap way to get satnav in your car

I already had a PDA with bluetooth so after some research I decided that Tomtom Navigator would be my cheapest option. Tomtom are well known for their Navigator software. TomTom Navigator 3 for Pocket PC

...I purchased TomTom Navigator along with my HP iPAQ 2210 about 10 months ago. I travel about 18000 miles a year and this product has been a great asset. It saves me having to make route notes and keep referring to road atlases. For town driving it is even better as road maps do not show all local roads. I initially purchased version 3.0 but have now upgraded to v3.03 (427). I use it with a wired GPS receiver which simply plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car. In most cases you run the application and then bring up the Navigator Menu. You can then choose where you want to go; a recent location, an address, a favourite location or even a Point of Interest (more on these later). TomTom Navigator 6 for PDA

Advantages: Incredibly easy to use.
Disadvantages: Slow cold start time on GPS reciever.

My particular phone has a touch screen which makes operating the system mere childsplay, I am not sure how easy this programme would be to use on a non touch screen phone. Before using TomTom I had ViaMichelin navigator for about 18 months and I was happy with that system, until it got stolen. I replaced it with TomTom which blew ViaMichelin out of the water. I have also subscribed to TomTom Traffic and get traffic updates on my route via GPRS/3G technology so Im always on the move instead of stuck in traffic.
