Great place for a good pharmacy degree
Review of London School of Pharmacy by  joelamathews

Advantages: small
Disadvantages: London is expensive

...School of pharmacy or SOP for short is a great place is you want a good degree in Pharmacy - one of the best in fact. Eventhought the college is small the union is active and is close to UCL and all the other major colleges in London. If you are looking for a social life that will rival UCl then SOP is not for you but being part of the unieristy of London does give you access to the biggest students' union in the UK. Being so small also gieve you the opprotunity to join the union and help make it even better which is one of the best things about it.... Read review

Lloyds Pharmacy Tens Machine
Review of LLoyds Pharmacy Tens Machine Digital Pain Reliever by  slubberd

Advantages: Lots of Functions
Disadvantages: None!

...I purchased the Lloyds Pharmacy version of this machine for my partner because he suffers from sciatica. It was £14.99 to buy and worth every penny. I had hired a TENS machine previously for my labour pains and found it to be very effective so thoughtI might also be able to use this for period pain. I popped into Lloyds and found that this one cannot be used by pregnant mothers - so that is one to remember - but I was quite impressed with it's functionality for massage. It runs from 2 AAA batteries (not supplied) and has two sticky gel pads (they can be reused and I've had mine for several weeks now with no reduction in suction - but you can buy extra sets from Lloyds) a cable and handy belt clip. The system runs for 15 minute and then turns itself off. (They recommend that you do not use it any more than 2 times in one day=30... Read review

Is it really organic? Is organic any better?
Review of Is organic food good for you? by  C_W_Monkey

Advantages: It's suposidly healthier
Disadvantages: it's all a con, most of it isn't even organic

...I always write my reviews based on what I know. What I think and how I feel. Because this is what my opinion is. I don't do any extra research for Ciao reviews. I might go and find some relevant pictures but that's it. So I don't claim to be 100% correct in this review! It's just what I've heard, how I feel! To refer to the comment which says organic takes up less land. All I know is that organic food either takes longer to grow, or takes up more land over all. This could mean that more crops fail or that land has to be left empty for longer. I know that it is not as economically viable as chemical or GM farming. Therefore my comments on the viability of organic are still correct. Despite reasoning being a bit hazy. -------------------------- What is organic? Most people think that organic food is grown... Organic isn't natural, it's supernatural
Review of Is organic food good for you? by  bigbtommy

Advantages: Made people appreciate their food
Disadvantages: No evidence, lots of intellectual trash

...Think organic and what do you picture. I don't know about you, but I picture a small family farmer, selling to local greengrocers and at farmers markets. I picture them caring for their animals and tending to their crops and not spraying 'nasty' chemicals on them. But I'm going to have to bust up this nice rustic scene. Unlike most of the other delusions that I rip to bits, even I kind of believe this. When the choices are Greenpeace and agrobusiness, it's not easy to get attached to either side. You secretly hope that they are going to knock each other out. Organic food is a sham. The basic claim of the organic food movement is simply that food which is not treated with synthetic chemicals is healthier, tastes better, is better for the environment and increases animal welfare. You can see why it's popular. Playing on the fears... Read review

Organic Treasure Trove!
Review of Out Of This World, Organic Supermarket (Beeston) by  thebattler

Advantages: A big range of genuine organics locally
Disadvantages: Fruit and veg not great

...Supermarket organic food has an odd reputation. I have heard stories of supermarkets playing some pretty nasty tricks on us with their version of organic. Examples would be the practise of growing organically but throwing away any stock that looked non-standard therefore wasting perfectly good harvest just because we have got used to the uniformity of EC mass produced style fruit. Another example is the fact that the best organic food is locally produced organic food. Supermarkets have a way of swallowing up local producers and ditching them if they don’t fit mass market requirements. So, thank goodness I found ‘Out of this world’ which judges every product it sells on criteria in categories in the areas of Fair Trade, Healthy Eating, Community, Environment and Animal Welfare. You can find lots of locally produced products like... Read review

A Blood-Curdling Review.
Review of LLoyds Pharmacy Blood Pressure Monitor by  FlameDruid

Advantages: You might get fixed
Disadvantages: Most men prefer socks or pants.

...as a convenient fraction), then the Lloyd's Pharmacy Blood Pressure Monitor Booklet suggests that you should practice a healthy lifestyle. This is what they say. 1. Cut salt. 2. Eat more vegetables though they've probably never faced my wife's broccoli. 3. Stay trim. Okay - moving swiftly on... 4. Get exercise. 5. Drink sensibly. What - no giggling at all? 6. Stop smoking. 7. Cut fat. 8. Eat oily fish. If the figures you get are consistently high, though, they say you should go and get checked over by your GP. A consistently high blood pressure, it seems, is putting pressure on your internal organs and making a stroke or a heart attack more likely. Given that lots of people have high blood pressure without feeling like there's anything wrong you can see how the reassurances, or even the early warning that the Lloyd's Pharmacy Blood... All about organic farming...
Review of Is organic food good for you? by  catm14

Advantages: Tastes better, is healthier, is better for the environment, and increases animal welfare!
Disadvantages: More expensive than non-organic.

...Organic means plants and animals are grown without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. This is the natural way of growing our food and is much friendlier to the environment. A lot of people now eat organic food because there is reliable scientific evidence of the harmful effects pesticides can do to us, this makes people want to avoid them as much as possible. Organic food is really healthy and contains higher levels of vitamin C and important minerals including calcium, magnesium, iron, chromium and cancer fighting antioxidants. Organic food doesn't contain food additives which can cause health problems including heart disease, osteoporosis, migraines and hyperactivity. Farming without unnecessary chemicals is good for the environment and the countryside. Some people are against organic food and say that organic food... Read review

Organic but not orgasmic!
Review of Whole Earth Sparkline Organic Apple and Raspberry Drink by  nursie_nursie

Advantages: Organic, suitable for vegans, no artificial flavours or colours, no GM ingredients.
Disadvantages: Not enough flavour, the cost when not on offer.

...and people tutting at you for daring to stop to pick up the products you want, hell, that is what supermarkets are! Where my other half doesn't usually come with me he looked at things that I do not and we have tried rather a few new products that I just walk straight past, get what is on my list and get out as quickly as possible. We noticed some canned organic drinks in the soft drink section that looked interesting and we thought nothing more of it and got what we wanted and left. The next week I had dropped my other half at work and had the car for the day as I had a few things I had to do that day. I picked him up from work and we went straight to Asda to do the shopping. I was very thirsty as I had been out for several hours and like the plonker I am, had not taken a drink with me or any money to buy one. We got to the soft drink... Read review

Go Organic
Review of Sainsbury's Fresh Milk Organic by  vinodgm

Advantages: Much healthier, good value for money
Disadvantages: None whatsoever

...Some of you might have read my recent opinion on Sainsbury's Soya Milk, which, as my opinion suggested, I am certainly not a fan off. However Sainsbury's Organic Milk and generally all other brands of Organic milk, is certainly a different kettle of fish. Organic foods in general are made from products that have not been exposed to harmful pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, irradiation and genetically modified organisms. This application to organic milk is no different. There is no GM in organic cattle feed, there has not been a case of BSE found in an organic born and raised dairy cow, antibiotics are only used if the cow is ill, no artificial insecticides and fungicides are used in the pastures where the organic cows graze, no solvents are used to produced organic cattle feed and no urea is used in cattle feed. All... Read review

ORGASMIC ORGANIC GOODIES
Review of Enjoy Organic Co Carrot & Orange Cake Slices by  LostWitness

Advantages: Tasty, moist, full-flavoured...
Disadvantages: .... too small for gannets

...Many months ago, I went through one of my frequent health fads, and decided that I would start to eat and drink completely organically. It wasn’t too bad at first, but then I discovered how uninspiring the range of organic crisps was, and I defected back again. Nonetheless, whilst I was on my organic food fad, I did discover one or two items that I have continued to indulge in ever since, purely because they are so nice. ENJOY ORGANIC PHILOSOPHY The Enjoy Organic Food Company has been a key player in the organic food market over the last few years, injecting a new spirit of freshness and vigour to an otherwise rather staid market. As the name of the company might suggest, Enjoy Organic work very much on the basis that food should be enjoyed, and if it can be healthier too, then everyone’s a winner. They have a bright...
