Stop at this Pass between Italy and switzerland
Review of Grand St Bernards Pass by
mumsymary
Advantages: A way over the top of the Alps
Disadvantages: none
...When we were on holiday in Italy we were not very far away from the borders with Switzerland. We were near the grand St Bernard's pass, so one day we had to visit and pop into Switzerland just to look and say we had been there really. There is also a petit Saint Bernard's pass this is between France and Italy
This pass in the ALPS between Switzerland and Italy had been used for many years since before 800 BC. Tribe's people and traders used this pass to take their wares for sale and Armies used this pass for their troops. Its possible Hannibal and his elephants passed this way also Julius Cesar too,
Napoleon led his army of 40,000 troops over the pass into Italy in may1800,
Saint Bernard of Methon

During the 900's it became a treacherous place for travellers as Huns and Saracens rampaged terrorising...

From Someone Who Took FOUR Times To Pass...
Review of Member advice on Passing your Practical Driving Test by
Sonic4290
Advantages: The feeling you get when you pass!
Disadvantages: The anxiety/worry/stress knowing you have to keep taking the test.
...OK so I took four attempts to pass my driving practical test. This review is probably going to be helpful and encouraging to those who suffer with nerves or just need encouragement to finally rip up those L plates. It may also just assist those who are unsure about what to expect on their practical driving test.
BACKGROUND
I'd been learning for 6 months with a man (let's call him Gary) and things had been going Ok. I am quite a slow learner - I am extremely academic and always been good at school, but just a bit useless when it came to driving. I read up on this and found out that generally people who are more academic are most likely to fail their driving tests a few times. Obviously this isn't true for everyone but hopefully will give some of you out there a bit of hope! Gary was a pretty good instructor - had a Renault Clio...

Don't pass it up...
Review of Pass Plus by
rockandrollstar
Advantages: Improve your driving skills and knowledge, could save your life.
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest thing on the go
...For those of you who hold a driving licence, cast your mind back to the day you passed your test. If you're anything like I was, an overly keen, overly confident 17 year old 4 wheeled disaster waiting to happen, chances are you'll be cursing having missed the opportunity to take advantage of the Pass Plus scheme.
Personally, of all the liabilities floating about our roads, the near-blind 90 year olds driving on the wrong side of the road, the drink/drug impaired fools or the distracted stressed out mother doing the school run with 32 screaming kids in the back or her huge off-roader, I reckon no one is more dangerous, to both themselves and everyone else, than the new licence holder lacking experience and common sense, but still barrelling into corners like Michael Schumacher. Whether it be the sterotypical spot-ridden Vauxhall Nova...

Passing your driving test!
Review of Member advice on Passing your Practical Driving Test by
ice_pink
Advantages: Freedom! The end of all those lessons, where to go now..!?
Disadvantages: Very expensive, nerve wracking, and frustrating!
...Passing your test!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
When I first started taking my driving lessons I actually thought very little about the actual test itself and just carried on as normal. I sort of knew I was good enough to pass and had a feeling I’d pass first time… Yep, this feeling was wrong, but there you go.
First things first, to start learning to drive you first need to get a provisional license, which now comes in the form of a little green card with ‘DVLA’ stamped all over it in clear writing.
The theory test
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The theory test is something you should try to get out of the way as soon as you possibly can, in my opinion, so you can focus on your actual practical driving skills. A lot of the theory will make more sense once you have a bit more sense of the roads, for example roundabouts and junctions, so starting...
