Reviews of the passion of the christ
The passion of the Christ. Unbelievable.
Review of The Passion Of The Christ (Subtitled) by
action_babe
Advantages: Very engrossing film, great characters.
Disadvantages: Special effects nothing special.
...I have recently bought and watched The passion of the Christ so i thought i would share my views on the film with you all.
This film is not only directed but also co-written by Mel Gibson and stars :
*James Caviezel as Jesus,
*Maia Morgenstern as Mary,
*Hristo Jivkov as John,
*Francesco De Vito as Peter,
*Monica Bellucci as Magdalen,
*Mattia Sbragia as Caiphas,
*Toni Bertorelli as Annas,
*Luca Lionello as Judas,
plus many more.
This film tells you all about Jesus's tremendous journey that leads to his death (crucifixion), he was betrayed by his fellow disciple Judas, shortly after the Last Supper and is based on the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
Unlike previous films about Jesus, The Passion of the Christ looks not at the life or death of Jesus, but on his unbelievable murder.
Mel has borrowed from the works of Puntarmo...

...Passion Flower (Passiflora Incarnata) is a climbing plant. The flower part is lilac with a yellow middle. It can reach up to 30 ft in length! The flowers have large, orange berries. The name 'Passion Flower' is referred to the Passion, or Crucifixtion of Christ. The plant's middle bit (the yellow) resembles the crown of thorns.
It is good for a number of different things:-
* Insomnia
* Anxiety, panic attacks and restlessness
* High blood pressure
* To relax the airways
* Period and ovarian pain
* Relaxes digestion in Irritable Bowel Syndrome
* As a mild pain killer
The parts of the plant that is used are the leaves. Do not use it during pregnancy. It can be taken as a drink. Take 200 - 400 ml daily. The plant is also available in tablet form.
Passiflora is mainly a sedative, which acts on the central nervous...

Gibson's daring work of art
Review of The Passion Of The Christ (Subtitled) by
harlequin21
Advantages: Masterfully cinematic; work of art; visceral and rich in atmosphere; beautifully made
Disadvantages: (Arguably) Overly devout; non-conformist; illiberal; good vs. evil
...Frequently seen in Mel Gibson's films, namely Braveheart, is the victimisation of normal people by evil. It is plausible then, to say the least, that the Passion of the Christ takes this approach. Accused of anti-semitism, devout and beautiful, the Passion of the Christ certainly is Mel Gibson's greatest and boldest achievement as an artist in the film industry.
Scripted in Aramaic and Latin, the Passion of the Christ recounts Jesus' final hours. This hasn't got the controversial nature of Martin Scorcese's Last Temptation of the Christ, portraying Jesus as humanistic and somewhat strange, but tells the Christian interpretation of the death of Jesus for what it is, and how the four Gospels tell it. We see Jesus as how he is viewed by the Church; both a man and the Divine Son of God. He's pure and sinless, but still the man who...

Nailed to your chair?
Review of The Passion Of The Christ (Subtitled) by
Ineedmoneynow
Advantages: powerful, beautiful acting and a great atmosphere
Disadvantages: Extremely spoooooooky (adults only)
...Nailed to your chair? You've probably been watching "The passion of the Christ", a true story about Jesus of Nazareth (also known as the "Christ"), Born in Israel and a descendant of King David. Who's true identity is disputed till now, some people believe he is a human being and some believe he is the son of God (personally I believe he is God). If you don't recognise the name, where have you been for the last TWO THOUSAND years?
The story follows Christ’s life as he tries to reveal his identity to the rest of the world. At the time the film was set Israel was controlled by the Roman Empire and this would have been threatened by the coming of a saviour who might give the Israelites confidence to fight against Rome.
Although the coming of the Christ was predicted before Jesus was born, most Jews did not believe and were...

This is not entertainment.
Review of The Passion Of The Christ (Subtitled) by
Yaakov
Advantages: An accurate account of the suffering of Jesus.
Disadvantages: May go over the heads of some.
...As a Christian I have been made aware of the extent of the suffering of Christ at the hands of the Romans. This film was the first dramatised account which has done this justice. For me, and I'm sure for many other Christians who saw it, this film is not entertainment. It's an experience. I remember thinking whilst i was watching it that I would never complain about anything ever again.
The film is very well made, and the fact that the script is in the Hebrew language makes it all the more real. The story, of course, is about the last hours of Christ's life up to His crucifixion. I think that for many people watching, who know little about the gospel accounts of Christ's earthly ministry, would be a bit lost in some scenes - you really need to know the background to appreciate certain aspects of the film. Also, if you are going...

I Kick Ass for the Lord
Review of The Passion Of The Christ (Subtitled) by
Plissken
Advantages: Gets the bile going, one way or another.
Disadvantages: Poor storytelling, terrible CGI, redundant actors.
..."The Passion of the Christ" is Mel Gibson's cat o' nine tails, which he uses to flog his audience for two hours with a message. You come to realise this about midway through, when Jesus, yet to be sentenced, takes a prolonged thrashing by Pilate's henchmen. With Jesus' birth and life cut out, we are forced to focus on his brutalisation and eventual crucifixion. This is what he suffered for our sins, and you are going to suffer it aswell.
The reason for the title of my review is that I saw 'The Passion of the Christ' on the same day as I saw The Rock in 'Welcome to the Jungle'. 'The Passion' is depressing in the way that however much you long for the drunken, leering Roman torturers and the hypocritical Jewish high priests to get their comeuppance, you know it's not going to happen.
For all it's power - I'm not sure that's the right...

Mmmm Feel The Passion
Review of Passion Flower by
Kingkarliii
Advantages: Looks beatiful when in flower, make a nice sedating cuppa tea
Disadvantages: Looks messy in the winter
...***
The leaves of the plant are said to have a mildly sedating effect. This I agree on as I often drink passion flower tea with another herb called skullcap, this certainly helps to make me sleep. I have also heard storys of people smoking the leaves, but this sounds a bit extreme to me. It is also said to have aphrodisiac effects.
***Culinary Uses***
After the flowers have died away the plant produces green fruits, that turn orange when ripe. They do not taste very nice but are edible. They are often made into jam and can be added to a fruit pie. I have had the pleasure to try the jam on numerous occasions and must say that it tastes rather nice.
***Conclusion***
This is a very beautiful plant, that has a history related to the cruxifiction of christ. It has good sedative effects that are extremely effective on over active children. i would...

THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST, Tough to watch.
Review of The Passion Of The Christ (Subtitled) by
ciaomane
Advantages: It followed the scriptures well with some added artistic freedom
Disadvantages: VERY violent, but this was supposed to be!
...Whether you believe that Jesus is the Christ or just a figure in history, the fact is he did exist, was condemned to death and did go through scourging and crucifiction.
This film describes the hours of Jesus betrayal, denial, torture and death intimately.
Christians believe this was done for their salvation. The punishment was to be brutal and the movie shows it.
I found the acting to be top notch. Jesus was potrayed well and the back flashes showed some of his compassion and belief in love.
Mel Gibson's use of a female as a devil figure was artistic and also hit home. The devil can manifest itself as anything. I won't give away any of the little "gimmicks" Gibson used to bring out the evil that was shown in this character. Some were subtle but very much on the mark.
Mary, Jesus mother, was well done with few words. One scene where...
