...My daughter is 8, and is a real fan of Chick Flick. When the Princess Diaries came out on DVD, she just had to have it. Amy has now got a DVD player in her bedroom, and for a few weeks, she has hidden herself away, watching this film over and over. Knowing that this film had taken over from her worn out Grease DVD, I had to find out what all the fuss is about. Advantages: Good cast, easy to watch, happy film for all the family
Disadvantages: not for everyone!

...Well despite that fact that I am 20, I still love to watch Disney Films and this is one of my favourites! Obviously, it is not everyones cup of tea, but I find its a brilliant way of filling my evenings while at uni and is a nice gentle film to watch when you just feel like some 'make you feel good' entertainment. Sypnosis: Now being a sequal, this film carries on from The Princess Diaries 1 (funnily enough!lol). In the first film we find out that teenager Mia is in fact a princess of a land called Genovia, and that it is likely that she will become the queen! Now after undergoing a make-over and intensive queen lessons, Mia is more prepared and the second film picks up with Mia graduating college and moving to Genovia. Advantages: It's all about princesses, for those who are princess crazy!
Disadvantages: Pitched for older children who may well have outgrown princess frenzy!

Mia is a perfectly normal teenage girl until she learns that her father was in fact prince of a small principality called Genovia. Her father had died some years before and her grandmother (Julie Andrews) is hoping to abdocate her thrown in the foreseeable future. Mia is the only heir and so is forced to submit to the unenviable task of 'Princess Lessons' taught by her grandmother. At this news Mia is sudenly forced into the public eye, gains the attention the most popular girl in schools boyfriend and has to have a boyguard follow her everywhere. Watch the ups and downs of Mias life and that of the people around her. It will make you laugh out loud in places and even make you cry. It is a tradtional girly movie and will appeal... Read review

I must say that the books were duller than ever, set in a diary format that didn't interest me in the slightest but since I was given them as birthday presents I read them. When The Princess Diaries 1 came out I found it on offer in Woolworths and I thought it was worth a try, and when I watched it I was pleasantly surprised! Advantages: A light hearted read yet brief look into Prince Charles bubble/aka the palace

...look alike. The amount of lovers she writes about in her palace diaries book is quite vast, this is obviously a lady who likes sex and has a strong appetite for it. This naïve and some what immature young woman certainly does lie down and think of England, for her Prince and country no doubt! When she joined the Palace, Charles was still married albeit unhappily with Princess Diana. Diana hardly acknowledged Sarah as she was employed in Charles's camp and that area was a no go zone for the Princess. The animosity between the pair was already very apparent as Sarah would notice at the staff Christmas parties. For example, Diana would arrive through another door looking absolutely stunning as she always did and only mingling with her direct staff, ignoring Charles's section. ...As a present for my birthday, a friend who doesn’t seem to know me very well bought me the video of The Princess Diaries. It’s a film that didn’t appeal to me when it was initially released at the cinema in 2001. Despite having Julie Andrews in it, an actress who has appeared in a lot of movies I like, I felt this film wasn’t targeted at my age group or at someone who doesn’t like the chick teen flick genre. Nevertheless, as it was a gift it had to be watched. Mia (Anne Hathaway) is a young, gawky, clumsy 15 year old. She’s not in with the A-crowd but badly wants to be. She's now the author over 40 books aimed at all diffrent age groups, her most famous being the Princess Diaries Series which was made into two fantastic films.
