...When it was fast approaching Christmas time Mr and Mrs mikenw75 sat around fretting about what they could buy their youngest son who was 10 months. Despite his young age he had high aspirations this boy. He had frequently tried to steal and joy ride his two year old brothers Kiddicare Fire Engine ride on ( see previous review for more detail) and so in order to discourage a stay in Pentoville later in life we began to investigate alternatively ride ons. Our first stop was Kiddicare given the excellent ride on his older brother had but unfortunately we could not find any suppliers of different models. We ruled out any motorised ride on as it stopped them exercised and was damn expensive. ...We just bought this new toy for our 10 month old daughter, because we had seen it advertised on television. Step Start Walk n Ride is a wonderful toy for helping your baby learn to walk! This great little toy also converts into a riding toy, that your child can sit and ride after they have learned to walk! This toy has kept both my 2 yr old and my 10 month old very busy. When you first get this toy home it will come in a box and you will have to assemble it (it isn't that hard). No tools are required. You just snap the pieces into place and it comes with a few stickers to put on it, and it is ready to go! In just a few days she started taking steps for us all on her own! ... After many hours pouring over catalogues and discussing pro's and con's we settled on the Stride to Ride walker. You would be mistaken in thinking we were planning troops tactical manoeuvres in war, but no - we are simply being parents! Sometimes it's a war in itself! Also, we had a recommendation from a close friend who used it for her daughter. I always like to follow the recommendation of a person who owns the product, rather than a commercial review that is simply a selling ploy. Availability We found that the Stride to Wide Walker is available in many stores. As it is a Fisher Price toy we found it easy to obtain, as Fisher Price is a highly popular brand. ...of absolutely nowhere, and that you've stepped back in time, and when you're riding thru the desert you really feel like you could be in one of those scenes on the Clint Eastwood films....in fact i rode thru the exact same valleys which he rode thru in the good the bad n the ugly!!!! It was fantastic, i even recognised it off the film....it put hairs up on my arms!! They film loads of stuff round there and you cant blame them really. The landscape is really diverse. You can be riding thru cactus fields one minute, then up a rocky mountain path, then galloping across a vast flat mountain plateau, then going thru salt flats surrounded by these big imposing mountain ranges..then plodding thru little winding paths in between the fields past tumbledown old fincas and the old abandoned emerald mines, then you can be riding thru the big canyons they have... .... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Why is it stride and ride? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It's called stride and ride, as it can change from a walker into a sit and ride toy. It does this by a clip just under the main part. If you undo the clip, the sides open up to make the walker. The wheels turn slightly, so that you will be going straight. The baby/toddler, then stands in between the sides, and walks along holding the backboard (which is actually at the front). To turn it into a ride along toy, You press the botton near the front of the toy, and the sides will be loose. You push them together, and fasten a red clip underneith. Advantages: Beautiful peaceful friendly people and great horse riding
Disadvantages: A short break isn't long enough and you have to hire a car

...We found the site on the internet www.desertridersspain.com and booked up for a short break - Both myself and my daughter ride but my wife preferred the peace and quite and was happy to read and relax in the sun. The closest airport is Almeria but it would be feasible to fly in to Murcia or Alicante and drive down. If you can fly into Almeria it's an easy journey and only half an hour's drive. We used easy Jet but there are other airlines that fly there. We booked the car hire on line - There are lots to choose from and it's easy, the car hire people all speak better English than my Spanish - The car hire offices are all in the arrivals area. When you get to the house its in the middle of nowhere but only 10 minutes from the local Tabernas village - Carole and Robs place is a combined yard and home - The bedrooms are really nice...
