These Stones Just Keep Rolling...........
Review of Rolled Gold+ (USB Memory Stick) - Rolling Stones (The) by
lel1969
Advantages: Quick and Easy to use
Disadvantages: Still have to download
...I am sure there are not many people out there, of any age, who can honestly say they have never heard of the Rolling Stones! They seem to have an appeal surrounding them, which really does touch the hearts of most people in some way or another, whether it's memories of wild teenage years from many moons ago or simply a new found fascination by today's teens for these everlasting rockers.
The compilation album Rolled Gold + was first released in the UK in 1975 and today, 12th November 2007 has been released in CD and USB format, being the first album to be released in USB format in the UK. USB format is a very fun, handy format in which to purchase music.
FORMAT
USB stick format is basically what it says - an album on a USB stick. This format will have extras on it, but then so do the special addition CDs. You will still...

The Rolling Stones 2008 Original Soundtrack
Review of Shine A Light - Rolling Stones (The) by
costas1234
Advantages: Great
Disadvantages: Some are filler tracks, and some tracks contain not as good guitar and singing
...Rolling Stones shine a light
This music album was performed by the Rolling Stones at the beacon theatre in New York USA. I believe that not all the songs contained on the album were all taken from the film; I think that some of the songs were taken from different live events from the bands most recent American tour. The album has 2 discs and contains 22 tracks, 2 of which are non musical as you will find out.
1 Jumping Jack Flash 4:22 - Being the first song of this album is of much interest as it has always been one of my favourites. In the track the rolling stones are introduced to the stadium by the MC, and later Martin Scorsese is heard saying "first song". The song begins by the introduction guitar notes from Keith Richards and seconds later some soft drum beats from Charlie Watts are heard. The main guitar rhythm...

Tripping Over A Rolling Stone
Review of Sticky Fingers - Rolling Stones (The) by
sam1942
Advantages: some compelling tracks.
Disadvantages: A band disilillusioned by drugs
...Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Brian Jones got together in London (none of the three were actually from London) and formed The Rolling Stones around the year of 1962. Up until around 1963, they had been the 'live in' band at a blues club in Richmond, south west London, called The Crawdaddy. Because of clean cut approach to music at that time in Britain and the fact that The Beatles' sharp suited image was to be blamed for the 'knicker wetting' movement of the younger female generation, it was probably thought of a rather challenging task to know how to present The Rolling Stones.
Fundamentally a rhythm and blues set up, they were hardly into 'wooing 'and 'yeahing' to middle market Merseybeat tunes. A dodgy looking manager came to their rescue and decided that The Stones should be the band for Rockers rather than Mods. Far from pin...

Rock Me, Rock Me, Rolling Stones
Review of Sticky Fingers - Rolling Stones (The) by
Pelenya
Advantages: Some outstanding rock and roll tracks
Disadvantages: Some songs you might want to skip
...a performance such as that!
Bitch does a satisfying job of easing the ache of wanting another dose of Can't You Hear Me Knocking. Although it is much shorter and to the point, it is a grinding rock and roll song that makes you want to shake your hips to the rhythm.
Dead Flowers is an interesting ditty about being dumped by a society queen and drowning sorrows "in a basement room with a needle and a spoon." How often are we still drowning our sorrows in a drink or another more acceptable vice today?
Although many claim Brown Sugar to be their favorite tune on this album, and perhaps the Stones biggest commercial hit from it, it is not the best - at least in my opinion. It's good, but it lacks the raw instrumentals and lyrics of most of the other songs.
There are some wink links on this album. I found Sister Morphine to be far too...

Digital Stones
Review of Rolled Gold+ (USB Memory Stick) - Rolling Stones (The) by
hayer1
Advantages: A great listen and a great way to get into the Stones early years.
Disadvantages: It's on USB, not for everyone.
...Digital Stones on USB Stick Format
It's the multi-format re-issue for Stones Rolled Gold+ and this ones on USB! A shiny new update of Rolled Gold, the Stones Best of album which was originally released in 1975.
This updated album is a two CD set which includes all that tracks that were part of the original Rolled Gold vinyl LP plus 12 new tracks from the same era, that were not in the 1975 release. Rolled Gold+ is made up of 40 tracks, which include all the biggest hits from the first 10 years of the Rolling Stones recording career.
This new release concentrates on the years 1963-1971, a time when the band were at their most iconic and prolific.
The album follows the band as they evolved from an R n B group, to pop group to rock legends. The track listing runs chronologically and the packaging will include track...

You gotta roll with it!
Review of Rolled Gold+ (USB Memory Stick) - Rolling Stones (The) by
leofluffy69
Advantages: something for everyone, a useful way of storing tracks
Disadvantages: USB format can only be used with suitable appliances
...INTRODUCTION
-------------------------
Last week my partner took great pleasure in explaining that he had ordered two albums offline and that I was welcome to open the package but not play with them until he got home. I was most surprised that he had ordered something offline as he has been very scared of ordering offline. It wasn't until he explained that the albums were on USB and then I understood his excitement.
I had never heard of USB albums until then and was quite curious myself. He had been browsing the Hadouken site and decided to get the album. A few days later the Rolling Stones album arrived.
Without wanting to offend anyone I must admit that I have never been a fan of the Stones myself as they were a bit before my time. I have heard a few of their songs on the radio and they do feature in my mums record collection...

Funky Rolling Stones
Review of Black And Blue - Rolling Stones (The) by
JOHNV
Advantages: An album which found them anticipating trends; a partial change of direction which worked
Disadvantages: On the whole, not the Stones you may know and love
...When 'Black and Blue' was first released in 1976, many of us diehard Stones fans found it a crashing disappointment. Had they really lost direction, or were they too busy auditioning new guitarists to find one to step into the shoes of recently-departed Mick Taylor to concentrate properly?
In retrospect, it wasn't a classic album by the band we knew and loved. But it showed that they could see which way the musical scene was changing, and its flirtations with funk and reggae found them keeping pace with trends, if not one step ahead of them altogether. Most of it had been recorded at least a year before it was released, in the year in which Bob Marley & the Wailers finally made reggae hip and respectable (remember when Led Zeppelin recorded a reggae song in 1973 and were roundly slated for it?), the Average White Band were cool...
