Afternoon tea at Savoy, bit disappointing

Advantages: Lovely surroundings, (mainly) delicious tea.
Disadvantages: Poor service

...An enjoyable, but disappointing for the cost, afternoon tea at The Savoy. The location is ideal, on the Strand adjacent to Covent Garden, an easy walk from several tube stations and on several bus routes. The facade of the hotel and the lobby are beautiful, as is the lounge area where tea is taken. During tea, a pianist plays, which is a lovely accompaniment, although some of the songs seemed a bit modern given the setting! Unfortunately the service was not what you would expect. We waited quite a long time for various things and staff could be seen chatting in the corners while people waited etc. There was an excellent choice of tea and the option to try as many as you wished. The Savoy blend which we chose was delicious, apart from our last pot, which didn't seem to have been brewed freshly and came out grey...

...Having been to The Savoy a number of times for business meetings it was always a hotel I have wanted to stay at not only for the history but also for it's location. However the cost has always been a little hard to bear. You can imagine my pleasure when idly scanning through hotels.com and seeing the hotel's latest offer of £99 pppn including continental breakfast. I booked and treated my wife for a 2 night surprise visit. Apparently the cheaper rates are due to the fact that the hotel is closing at Christmas for one year to undergo a refurbishment. Does it need a refurbishment? Probably is the answer but it isn't tatty. More like faded but still impressive. From the moment we walked through the doors we were made very welcome indeed. Perfect for a sightseeing trip to Copenhagen

...Last summer we went on a short trip to Denmark´s captial and so we needed also a hotel for the one night that we spent in Copenhagen. After we spent some time online to search for the "perfect hotel" we found this one, the Savoy Copenhagen. We paid for one night 105 Euro (88 GBP), not much compared to other hotels in Copenhagen. The best hotel in Prague!

Advantages: Facilities, decor, staff

...We went to Prague in April this year. We travelled with Czech Airlines from Birmingham airport. We arrived at Prague and we took a taxi (15 euros) from the airport to the Savoy Hotel. Our first impressions when we entered Prague were "what have we done!!" The route took us along a road covered with graffitti and we kept thinking "please dont stop here!". Anyway we turned a few corners and the beauty which is Prague appeared. The Savoy Hotel is Pragues best hotel and its well deserved of its 5 Star rating. The Strand Palace Hotel

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

...I recently went on a cultural girlie trip with a friend to Paris. I was left to do all the booking. I was looking for a reasonable hotel, near a metro stop, which included breakfast. I came across the Hotel International on various travel sites and it seemed fairly highly rated so I booked us in for three nights. LOCATION: The hotel is located 6 Rue Auguste Barbier in the 11th Arrondissement. The nearest Metro stop is Garcourt which was a two minute walk away and it was a five minute walk to Republique which gives good links to other lines. It's not really central enough to avoid the Metro and walk to the attractions but it was located so close to a stop that it seemed ideal. PRICE: Prices vary depending on size of room and season. There are singles, doubles and triples available. We paid Euro254 for the whole time...

A step back in time!

Advantages: Errrrrr well it was reasonably cheap and not too far out of the city!
Disadvantages: It certainly isn't the Savoy that people might think of!

...Two nights were needed in Wroclaw so I went to the tourist information centre in the main market square. I was on a budget admittedly so wasn't expecting a great place. So I was booked in to the Savoy!! As I left the tourist information I asked whether they will speak English, no came the reply! The reception is on the first floor and the middle aged receptionist was on the phone (her own personal mobile), clearly her phone call was many times more important than a new arrival at the hotel!!! After 10 minutes waiting she finished this extremely important phone call and demanded my passport!!! Wow!! I thought I was crossing the board back in the communist days!! My room faced on to the busy square and so the room was very noisey and the window did not shut as it should. The room was clean and beds were fairly comfortable...

...****Sachas hotel- Manchester**** I booked this hotel last minute as i had a job interview in Manchester and needed somewhere quite cheap ,that was also near the centre. **Location/Getting there** This hotel is located in Tibb street which is a 2 minute walk from Piccadily Gardens or 10 minutes away from Chorlton street bus station.The Train station is a little bit further away say maybe a twenty minute walk but i don't think that this is that bad .You can also get a tram from Piccadily gardens and this goes to quite a few places.You could also get a taxi to the hotel but i am not sure what parking is like if you were to take your own car. **Reception/staff** Since i had never been to Manchester before i phoned and asked the staff for directions -they were very nice and helped me out.When i got there i think i got the same...

It is slightly further out just opposite the Castle Bill Bill and when you cross the road it?s a flat walk all the way to the marina which is away from the large hills on which many of the other hotels are located. Reception On arrival check in was swift and at this time we opted to pay for a safety deposit box we were then handed the safe key and card key to room 524 and pointed in the direction of the lifts. On looking round reception it was laid out with tables and chairs and also had a grand piano, a small bar ,toilets and computers with internet access. There is a large board telling you about entertainment available during the day and at night. The whole area was laid out for wheelchair access...
