If I were to be stopped on the street by a man with a microphone and a very large camera, and asked what my favourite bread was, I would have to say, without a shadow of a doubt, Warburtons Seeded Batch. There is no bread finer, in my humble opinion! So what is it? Well it is a loaf of great distinction in our house, the creme de la creme of bakery produce. Made outwith a tin, and therefore very soft and doughy at the sides, it is full to bursting with all the great and good of seediness! Advantages: Great illustrations. Teaches about the life cycle of a seed.
Disadvantages: Not for pre-school children as longer than Carle's usual stories.

...I use this book with Reception and Year 1 children to teach them about the life cycle of a seed and the seasons and weather conditions associated with each season. ~ The story ~ It is all set in the present tense (which is the only element of this that I'm not overly keen on) The story begins in: Autumn ~ when the strong wind blows flower seeds and carries them in all different directions. Amongst all of the seeds there is one tiny seed and the question is poised as to whether it will be able to keep up with the others. It tells of all the hazards faced by seeds, e.g. landing on an icy mountain, falling in to the ocean, landing in the desert where it never rains, being eaten by a bird! Over the years, with the emergence of so many new authors and a dazzling array of genres, this has changed, but the books can still be found in schools, and are still widely read. WHY THE REVIEW? Earlier this week, I was asked to teach a science lesson to a class of Key Stage 1 children with "The Tiny Seed" as the starting point. Why this book? Advantages: The "best" of nick cave and the bad seeds, Cave's vocals, great songs, wonderful lyrics
Disadvantages: Some "bad" songs

...Nick Cave and the Bad seeds put their best songs together on an album and this is what we end up with. A sixteen track CD, wich has songs dating right through their career together (almost). Cave got with the Bad seeds in 1984 and this album goes as far back as that an all the way upto 1997 (The boatmans call). The album takes songs from each of the albums in this time peroid (though as the inlay booklet confess, not in chronological order). Cave and the bad seeds, have been described as being "Post-punk", "alt-rock" and "rock" all of these and more could be used to explain the bands sounds. I saw the pumpkin seeds and oats variety and thought they looked a bit more exciting than the plain version and so decided to try them. Advantages: Tasty
Disadvantages: more expensive than other brands

...Eating sandwiches are such a bone of contention with me as I can never get excited about eating a sandwich with two slices of white bread. I can often be seen scouring the bread section in the supermarket, buying wholemeal bread, rolls, pita breads etc., all in an attempt to have a tasty lunch. I chose a loaf of Warburton s seeded batch bread as it looked different from any other bread I have tried in a while. It didn't jump out at me on the shelf as the loaf itself is smaller than your average loaf size. The price isn't as small however as it towers over many standard loaves at approx 1.00gbp per loaf. I managed to get my first loaf on offer which was a bonus as like many new purchases before, I have tried one slice at home and the rest of the loaf has been left to grow mouldy in the bread bin. ...Duchy Original Organic Mixed Seed Bread. MY EXPERIENCE I purchased a loaf of this bread in my local Sainsburys supermarket recently. The cost was £1.59 for a 400g loaf, so came into the 'treat' bracket of my shopping budget. The wrapper reads very well, the bread is baked for the Duchy Originals group in the UK by La Fornaia Ltd, Park Royal, London, NW10 7NZ, to Duchy Originals own recipe. The bread contains linseeds, millet, sunflower and poppy seeds all ingredients are produced to organic standards so avoiding the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Advantages: Usual Lightning Seeds reliability
Disadvantages: But a bit different for some's liking

...The Lightning Seeds are most famous for 1996 footie anthem 'Three Lions', and a string of similar pop hits including Lucky You, Marvellous, Change, and the gorgeous Pure. Anyone who knows any of those knows what a class act the Lightning Seeds are; but having gone away on a three year break they returned in 1999 with 'Tilt', and it's hardly reminiscent of those earlier pop hits. For a start, gone were the trademark shades and weird beard of frontman Ian Broudie, who seemingly turned into Thom Yorke overnight. Pretty symbolic, really, as this is the Lightning Seeds' darkest, most melancholy album yet. Opener 'Life's Too Short' is jaunty enough, a discoey number which still incorporates the Seeds' former poppy sound, but from then on it's a mixture of dark keyboards and sad synths, with the odd up-tempo track thrown in - 'City Bright... Advantages: Organic, tasty, relatively low in fat.
Disadvantages: None in my opinion, but you could argue they're overpriced.

...I love cereal bars, and Seeds of Change are no exception - in fact, they're some of the best I've tried. They're really moist and have plenty of raisins in them, not like some cereal bars where you struggle to find one thing that vaguely resembles a piece of fruit. Although they're quite small, they're filling and quite low in fat and calories, which adds to their appeal. I don't think they really taste that much of chocolate, but they do taste nice - not like something which you'd expect to be low in fat. I know many people who think that they don't like cereal bars, but like Seeds of Change bars beacuse they're not as dry and crunchy as you'd expect a normal bar to be. And, of course, you can eat one knowing that you're not consuming anything horrible, because they're 100% organic. The cereal bars also smell really nice - kind... Read review
