...--: Introduction :-- I was, (am), a huge fan of The Sims and so when The Sims 2 came out I couldn't wait to play, but wait I did due to money etc and I finally got it about 3 months ago. I've played it so much since that I decided it was time I wrote a review. The Sims 2 is made by Maxis a part of EA Games who have a long pedigree in PC gaming. It was released on September 14, 2004 as the sequel to the extraordinarily popular The Sims. --: Installation and System Requirements :-- The "official" system requirements are as follows but it really is a case of the bigger the better. In my experience you can play the Sims on a PC with the spec below but it will be very slow to load, the game play will be slow and the game will freeze regularly. ...The Sims 2 was developed by the well known company Maxis and published by EA Games. It was released in September 2004. It is a single player life simulation game. It was released for Windows and Mac, Ps2, PSP, Nintendo Ds, GBA, Gamecube and Xbox. For the PC version you get 4 discs and a player manual with a unique CD key in the box. The Sims 2 is a sequel to The Sims game. In the game you can control every aspect of your Sims lives (Sims are player controlled human characters). ...When I bought my own copy of the Sims 2 game I knew I wanted this expansion pack with it, so I bought the new Sims 2 deluxe pack which includes both games on one DVD rom disc. The reason I wanted this one so much is that I think it's important to own it if you want to get full enjoyment out of the Sims 2 as it has so much to offer on it. It was originally released in September 2005, around a year after the Sims 2 was released. It's a big expansion pack which adds a whole new area, Downtown, to the game as well as a whole load of other features and new characters. Downtown is basically a place your sims can visit once you have this expansion pack. Advantages: Only 1 disc, loads of features
Disadvantages: Can be slow

...I have been a fan of the Sims for many years now, but only recently recently the Sims 2 for Christmas. When I opened it up, I noticed that it said DVD-Rom. At this point I panicked, thinking that I wouldn't be able to use it. Luckily, my computer has a DVD-ROM drive. The only difference between the normal CD-ROM version and the DVD-ROM, Is that the DVD-ROM only has one disc, making installation easier and quicker. Installation As I said, because the game is held on one disc only, you don't have to sit waiting for the computer to tell you top put in 'disc 2' or disc 3' etc. This means that you can leave the computer to happily go about its business of installing, whilst you go and watch the telly.
