Review of The Watcher (DVD)
Advantages: Funny, observant, well written Disadvantages: None
...Hello there you mad eejits, this is KingHerrod coming to you live all over the Ciao community, broadcasting the latest news and reviews on all that is good and all that is not so good. So listen up you eejit people to what is coming at you live and unabridged (until the sensors get at it that is).
Yes, we are back with Roddy Doyle and the second book in the Barrytown trilogy, the Snapper. Our dear Jimmy Rabbittee Jr is now trying to be a DJ, having dispensed with the Irish Soul band (see the Commitments review, the first Barrytown novel) and all that nonsense and the type of Gibberish in my first paragraph, is what the Rabbittee family have to listen to thumping down from the ceiling.
Yes it is another Roddy Doyle review as you may have guessed I am into this author at the moment and for good reasons, but here is a rundown...
Advantages: Quite good extras Disadvantages: All in one long episode
...Fimbles ? Smelly Jelly
I have to admit that Fimbles are not one of my favourite children?s programmes though my daughter loves it so we decided to go and get her a DVD so when we wanted to watch something on the television, she could watch it happily on the laptop ? which she enjoys doing as its mummy?s laptop and she isn?t meant to touch it!
The Fimbles are Fimbo, Florrie and Baby Pom, who all live in a lovely, colourful place called Fimble Valley. The Fimbles are cuddly hippo like creatures each with lovely colourful ?skins?. Other characters in this programme include a blue tree frog called Rockit and a mole called Roly Mo, a pink bird called Bessie and her chick Ribble. Most of the other characters are essentially large puppets except the chick who is just a great ball of fluff with eyes stuck on it, unmoving in the main...
Advantages: entertaining, great length, good features, appealing natural comedy Disadvantages: sorry, if you're under 12, its a no-go!
...I am a Telly Addict. I'll admit it, it's my life. What's more, I love anything that has me in stitches. So what better than to combine two of my favourite things and come up with an amazing show?! Harry Hill's TV Burps is a comedy show, presented by Harry Hill, which airs every on and off on ITV1. He also writes the script for the show too, which must result in him non-stop working. It first started in 2001 when Hill was just 37, and has been a success for the last eight years now. Each episode, Hill takes us on a journey to look back at that weeks' television, and everything comic about it. Often, there is a celebrity guest appearing in the audience-filled studio, to bring the entertainment and laughter to a peak. Now we can enjoy this magic on a DVD!
For Christmas I had asked for Harry Hill's TV Burp Gold DVD, however I did not...
Advantages: Funny, George Clooney Disadvantages: None
...almost filmed like that too, quite fast paced and uses a lot of old time props such as steam trains and really adds a good element to the film. The costumes are great as well and it really makes you lust after the wardrobe of Renee Zellweger. George Clooney plays his part extremely well too and although he is looking a bit older he still pulls off the rugged, football player look. John Kraskinsi is not as an established actor as the other too but does not seem out of his depth at all and really holds his own against the other two stars.
There are not too many bonus features in this DVD, just some deleted scenes which are quite funny in places. The film lasts for approximately 1 hour and 49 minutes and it is a PG, containing mild language and comic violence.
I would not rush to see this film again but it is funny enough, different...

Review of Leatherheads (DVD)
Advantages: Fast paced action movie. Bargain price. Disadvantages: Felt the movie was geared towards making Mr Hasselhoff look good!
...Review of ?Legacy? DVD format.
Production Year: 2002. Genre- Action/Adventure . Classification: 15 years and over ASIN B00006LSFP.
Run time 102 minutes.
The DVD
Legacy is from Prism Leisure, it is an action/adventure movie
The DVD I am reviewing is a one disc standard edition, the only special feature included in the DVD is a chapter selection.
Cast
The main roles are taken by David Hasselhoff and Rod Steiger.
The Plot
Hasselhoff plays war photo journalist, Jack Scott. Jack is a photographer who leaves no stone unturned in his quest for the ultimate shot. The movie starts with Jack in an Asian war zone, he risks his own life and safety to capture a picture of war atrocities being committed by rebel factions in the area.
As a result, Jack photographs a sensitive situation and comes to the attention...

Review of Legacy (DVD)
Advantages: Kevin James is brilliant Disadvantages: The ending was rushed
...~~~Hitch~~~
Hitch was at the top of my dvd list when it was released for three reasons, firstly the charming and delectable Will Smith was in the lead, secondly I love Kevin James (King of Queens) and thirdly I love a good film with a mixture of comedy and romance.
~Synopsis:
Will Smith (Alex Hitchens) has made his career as a undercover professional consultant or date doctor for the genuine men out there looking to have the perfect date with the woman of dreams.
With his business driven by his reputation alone he succeeds in coaching men through their three first dates promising that is all he needs to get them to the all important first kiss.
Unfortunately for Smith an unlikely attraction to an intelligent gossip columnist Eva Mendes (Sara Melas) calls his principles in too question.
Unbeknown to Hitch a mishap with her friend...

Review of Hitch (DVD)
Advantages: Keeps the children amused, helps teach morals. Educational. Disadvantages: None
...Pingu is a small penguin that lives on the Icecap. He lives in an igloo with his mum, his postman dad and baby sister Pinga. His grandpa lives in an igloo nearby. Pingu loves to play; he loves to ski, sledge, play fish tennis and most of all play in the snow. He loves to learn about the world around him both alone and with his friends Seal, Pongi, Pingo and Pingg.
Pingu has been around for some time but I think the more recent episodes are much better. The story appeal highly to children due to the scrapes that Pingu and his friends get into but also for the added addition of the occasional burp and other bodily noises either in the bath or whilst on the toilet. However what children probably don't realise is that most of the stories have a hidden moral in them, and this DVD is no exception.
Pingu does not speak English, however...
Advantages: Great pictures, battery life, effects and price Disadvantages: Easily scratched and small buttons
...left. It does take SD card memory which fit in next to the Battery so its expandable to 2Gb in storage. Enough for them most avid of snappers!
Functions/effects.
Lots to choose from here and you can create some stunning, professional looking pictures. We love messing with the Sepia option (see picture below) as well as some of the other great effects on the camera. These include adding frames to pictures, Black and White, Negative effects, etc...It goes on and one. Whats even more cool is you can edit the pictures directly on the camera themselves without needing to donload them.
Add to these functions the ability to do Macro/Portrait/Landscape and Timer work, it truly has everything the casual photographer could wish for.
As well as recording still images, the camera is able to operate as a digital video Camera storing movies in...

Review of Samsung Digimax L60
Advantages: attractive, great cast, fantastic plots, full of memories Disadvantages: can be a bit expensive, took time to arrive
...When I was younger, my favourite TV show was, without a doubt, Sabrina The Teenage Witch - an American programme aimed at children about a young witch living in the mortal realm with her two Aunts. I would watch it every day, back-to-back episodes every day in the evening on Nickelodeon! I remember sitting on the end of the bed upstairs, my brain wired into the show for an hour, involving myself in the wonderful world of magic. Unfortunately though, the show is very rarely on nowadays, and I do not have Nickelodeon either, so I hardly get to see it.
I was delighted when I discovered that show was available to purchase on DVD! I searched through Amazon, and found it sitting at just over £15. At that time, I could not afford to buy it, as it was so close to Christmas, and I needed every penny I had for presents and various festive...
