Sociology
Review of Sociology by Anthony Giddens by
LEIGHWHARTON
Advantages: See op.
Disadvantages: See op.
...As some of you might know I am currently on a disability studies course but I was previously on a GNVQ Advanced in Health and Social Care course. By doing, this course you get to come across a lot of different sociology textbooks. I think that this book has to be one of the best sociology textbooks written.
This book is aimed at people who have brief or very little knowledge about the subject of sociology.
This book can be used as a textbook, for courses like GNVQ Advanced in Health and Social Care, HND disability studies and also courses like GCSE sociology (I personally used it for both, I have also used this book for the HND course that I am presently on). It can also be picked up and read by anyone who wants to read about different aspects of sociology , ranging from discrimination to gender.
I bought this book because...

The best sociology website
Review of sociology.org.uk by
The_wizard
Advantages: It offers information for both students and teachers.
Disadvantages: Its not on CIAO
...Sociology central is a great site if you are studying sociology at higher education. It contains everything that a student or a teacher could possibly need for this very interesting subject.
As i am studying this subject i have found it very useful to have such a powerful information resource so easily avaliable to me. There are many sections to this site, everything from 'links' to coursework aids. The 'links' have connections to other sociology webstites or to universities around the country which offer good sociology courses.
I mentioned above that this site also caters for teachers, this is because the website is completely written by teachers from all walks of life and training. It offers everything from 'lesson plans' to complete 'term aids'.
I am currently working through my coursework, i have found the majority...

Exploring Disability: A sociological introduction
Review of Exploring Disability: A sociological introduction - Colin Barnes by
LEIGHWHARTON
Advantages: Good Book
Disadvantages: None
...This book is brilliant if you want a excellent and comprehensive book on an introduction to exploring disability and sociology. I first used this book to complete a project on how the understanding of disability and I found it to be very detailed and it also has great pictures to accompany the text that is written in this book.
This book can be used as a textbook, for courses like disability, GNVQ in health and social care. (I personally used it for both, I have also used this book for the HND course that I am presently on).
Back to the book.
For a start this book is written by people who teach disability studies ( Colin Barnes and Geof Mercer, who are members of the Disability research unit and also Tom Shakespeare who is a member of the department of Social policy at University of Newcastle Upon Tyne).
This book provides...

Sociology at UEL
Review of Sociology by
JOSI78
Advantages:
Disadvantages:
...I have to say that the sociology course is excellent. There is freedom to choose how your course will be shaped with plenty of options. As well as teaching theory, there is a choice of subjects covering the sociology of the body, the black diaspora, technology and society and many others. So it doesnt end up as just purely a course based on theories by Marx, Weber and Durkhiem. The teaching is excellent and very interesting. The assignments are interesting and diverse, thus the student is in complete control of most of the content. The course is not shoved down your throat by staff....

Imagine
Review of Imagine - John Lennon by
D1A1UK
Advantages: Great lyrics, superb song. Classic that time will not forget
Disadvantages: None
...I honestly believe that Imagine by John Lennon is one of the best and most important songs ever written and performed, I'm sure many of you will agree with me about that. I'll tell you why:
The song is emotional, and more importantly truthful. Although, perhaps it has shows of sadness I believe that the song is very encouraging because it makes you think.
"Imagine there's no heaven,
Its easy if you try,
No hell below us
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people,
Living or today,
Imagine there’re no countries,
It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
And no religion too,
Imagine all the people,
Living life in peace,
You may say I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will be as one,
Imagine...

Bridget Jones and the Overactive Imagination?
Review of Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination - Helen Fielding by
Mattroberts
Advantages: Can be funny in parts, Fielding is very witty at times. Some good parts.
Disadvantages: Olivia Joules isn't a likeable character. Fielding can be tiresome in this novel. Not Bridget Jones.
...Helen Fielding’s latest creation is a rather feisty character called Olivia Joules. A journalist who is desperate to find those major stories, and rather than write about who’s wearing what, she’d rather write about who’s at war with whom. Politics to her are more important than fashion. But, working for the style section of her newspaper it doesn’t seem she’ll get to achieve her dream. But, we do get to follow her on her trip around on the world when that imagination of hers runs wild.
I’ll start of by saying I don’t like Olivia Joules one bit. To me she seemed needy, unfriendly and simply unlikeable. What Fielding did with Bridget Jones was create someone everyone, in some way, could relate to. She was how so many women saw themselves. But, Olivia Joules on the other hand isn’t...

Helen Fielding and the Underactive Imagination
Review of Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination - Helen Fielding by
Soho_Black
Advantages: It can pass the time
Disadvantages: Nothing really original
...As popular as the first two were, there could never have been a third Bridget Jones book. After all, what else was there for her to do? She's caught her man, so perhaps marriage and kids, but it would have been difficult to make that funny. Think about it: "7.02 a.m. Changed baby's nappy. 7.05 a.m. Changed nappy again. How can something so small create so much waste?" It's amusing, but a year of that would have got very boring very quickly.
It was time for Helen Fielding and her readers to move on. More accurately, in fact, it was time for her to go full circle. Fielding's debut novel, "Cause Celeb" was written in the standard style, without the diary format, although told largely in the first person by a female lead character. So the same style is used for "Olivia Joules and the Overactive Imagination".
Olivia Joules...

I cant Imagine worse
Review of Imagine: Fashion Designer (NDS) by
jestertech
Advantages: Could be used to distract a 5 year old, Cheap pricing now
Disadvantages: Poor gameplay, repetitive music and short playing time.
...Imagine: Fashion Designer taking inspiration from the fashion world and shows such as Ugly Betty has arrived on the ds with the mission of turning young women into fashion designers.
The game places you as a studio owner who must design and uphold the business aspects of your own fashions which for the most part seems fun but this is not the case.
Instead the user has to select through pre-made clothing which I feel makes the whole game worthless as no other notable aspects are added to the game to compensate this disappointment.
The use of the stylus to mold, cut and completely reshape clothing in 3d should have been added along with less monotonous music and a longer playing time.
Overall after playing Imagine: Fashion Designer for the DS long enough I realised that the time spent on the game could have been used elsewhere...

Imagine my ultimate fantasy
Review of Terry's All Gold Imagine Milk Chocolates by
AimeeLouise18
Advantages: Smooth chocolate with a nice crisp center
Disadvantages: none (well maybe the calories)
...to have dinner. So I felt last night we deserved some chocolate for being good and not really complaining too much about what we didn't have.
So that was that, we shared the chocolates out and they were gone within 10 minutes. So were they nice?Did they do the trick for me?Did they make me feel in the mood?Read on and see!
*Imagine a world full of Terry's chocolate*
Terry's hasn't been around for that long from what I remember. It has been a few years but not as long as some of the chocolate that has been around. The most famous Terry's chocolate are the balls cut into segments with orange flavoured chocolate...different to other chocolate brands and definately yummy! They reguarly have advertisements for their different products starring dawn french.I'm sure we're all accustomed to the phrase "It's not Terry's it's mine".The most recent...

IMAGINE AND IT CAN HAPPEN
Review of Imagine - Eva Cassidy by
craigy2040
Advantages: Beautiful, specail, so peacful
Disadvantages: NOTHING, ZERO, NIL, NOUGHT
...“ALL PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACKS”
Hello! This is my second op on the talented Eva Cassidy. Her voice is like an angel to me, it is perfect. She can reach all the lows and highs of singing and does it well. Her voice is amazing, if you haven’t heard it, then you must, it can bring tears to your eyes, fill your heart with pure joy, or just be the CD of happy memories, whatever you choose, you will always remember her beautiful voice.
So the CD you are going to read about is called – Imagine – and to classify it in three words would be really hard. I will give it a try though – beautiful, mind bending, and joyful. So here goes …
1. It doesn’t Matter Anymore
What an amazing song, you can here her voice overpowering the guitar in the background. It is a pleasant mixture of smooth...
