Sing for your supper at Soprano's
Review of Sopranos Restaurant, Southsea by
denella
Advantages: Excellent food at very reasonable prices
Disadvantages: They may rush you because they're so busy
...I don't usually go to restaurants as part of a large group of people, but my visit to Soprano's in Palmerston Road, Southsea, was an exception to this rule. A colleague of ten years (mine of eight of those) was leaving to go and live with a Welsh farmer, so we had to give her a fitting send off. Soprano's was recommended to us by one of our younger colleagues, and knowing that it had won an award for best restaurant in the Portsmouth area in 2006, we were happy to go along with her choice; she made a booking several weeks in advance for thirteen of us (all women) for 7pm one Saturday evening. The superstitious among us were perhaps a little relieved that on the day only eleven attended.
Soprano's is essentially an Italian restaurant offering an extensive menu of salads, risottos, pasta and pizza, as well as filled panini and focaccia...

Bada Bing! Sopranos Season 2
Review of The Sopranos - Series 2 - Complete DVD by
sigmatech
Advantages: Best Season of best TV drama series
Disadvantages: Not suitable for those of a delicate nature
...Sopranos Season 2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2001
4 Discs
~~~~~~~
If the first season of the Sopranos was landmark TV then Season 2 took the concept a stage further, it is in my opinion and many others the best of the 5 ½ seasons so for shown.
So what makes season 2 so good? There are many reasons a few of which I will try to explain in this review. First and probably foremost is the writing, good as the writing was in season 1 it reached new heights in this season. This is down in no small part again to creator-producer David Chase who writes one episode and co-writes a further 2 including the brilliant season finale. The rest of the writing is shared out amongst many others including Michael Imperioli who plays Christopher Moltisanti, Tony's nephew in the show. The storylines twist and turn but are never predictable, I feel this is one...

Bada Bang! Sopranos Season 3
Review of The Sopranos - Series 3 - Complete DVD by
sigmatech
Advantages: Still in a League of its own
Disadvantages: Adult themes, Violence
...Sopranos Season 3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cert 18
~~~~~~~
Running Time 780 minutes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time the Sopranos had reached its third season it had become something of a TV event, both previous seasons had been great successes, the series had a huge fan base and was the toast of the TV critics. A lot was riding on series 3, pundits were doubtful whether or not the show could sustain the level of excellence it had achieved in its first 2 seasons The fact that season 3 in many episodes outdoes season 1 and 2 again shows the brilliance of the writing, directing and acting of this groundbreaking television series.
Season 3 builds slowly the opening episode shows the Sopranos going about their daily lives, and you get the feeling that maybe the pundits were right and the show had peaked in Season 1 and 2...
Meet the family, Sopranos Season one
Review of The Sopranos - Series 1 - Complete DVD by
sigmatech
Advantages: Best television drama ever
Disadvantages: Strong language, adult themes
...Sopranos Season 1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Intro
~~~~
I will begin this review by issuing a warning to potential readers I am a huge fan of this series so forgive me if it seems I am over hyping this box set. I missed this series when it first came out I didn't catch it until I brought the DVD. At the time of purchase this cost over £35 so was no small investment, I can however state that it was one of the best £35's I have ever spent as it has given me many hours of enjoyment. It was my first introduction into the lives of the Sopranos the greatest American family since the Walton's! They may by now be as famous as the Walton's but that is were the comparison ends, the Walton's this is not, but it is perhaps the best television drama ever and season 1 was the perfect introduction to this Dysfunctional but entirely believable suburban...
Tony Soprano in Asbury Park, New Jersey
Review of HBO - Sopranos by
Jerseycoa
Advantages: Superior Crime Show
Disadvantages: None
...Asbury Park on "Sopranos" is portrayed truly. It is just that surreal and ghostly, all that abandoned and bereft. A town out of Rod Sterling's "Twilight Zone" where everybody one day stood up and walked away. Just as Louis Malle's "Atlantic City" caught its moment, so did David Chase's 26th episode of "Sopranos" catch Asbury Park between its past and future. It is here, in this wind-swept ghost town of a seaside resort, just poised on a new beginning, where Tony Soprano meets his own past and future on April 9, 2000. We see Tony running along Ocean Avenue past the 1940s Howard Johnson's. We see Tony on the boardwalk near benches lined with his living and his dead. We see back-dropped behind him Madam Marie's old fortune-telling stand, the Stone Pony, the Convention Hall and Paramount Theater, the Casino with its annexed circular Carousel...
Soprano Supremo
Review of Channel 4 - The Sopranos by
buzzz
Advantages: great characters. exciting plots.
Disadvantages: none
...I have caught the odd episode of Soprano’s over the last couple of years, and each one I watched I was mesmerised to the screen, but always being busy I would often forget to watch the next week and therefore I only picked up half the plot.
I decided to buy my husband the boxed set DVD’s of series one and two for Christmas and catch up on the whole show from the beginning and it was money well spent.
The Soprano’s are a mob family based in present day New Jersey. Tony Soprano is the head of the family. He suffers with panic attacks, which cause him to pass out, and was recommended by a neighbour to see Dr Jennifer Melfi, a psychiatrist. We see him in his sessions with Dr Melfi maybe a couple of times an episode and the scenes are often hilarious. Tony squirms uncomfortably in his seat as Dr Melfi tries to get him...
Sopranos Season 6 - Wha' cha gonna do?
Review of The Sopranos - Series 6 Vol.1 DVD by
steve0898
Advantages: Brilliant directing and acting
Disadvantages: Very fast paced, can be hard to keep up
...***IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS SERIES AND DO NOT WANT PLOT SPOILERS DO NOT READ ON***
It's been about six months between watching season 5 and season 6. For a start I would've appreciated a bit of a recap in episode 1, this never happened leaving a little out of sorts and striving to remember what happened previously. This said however episode one was a fantastic kick start to the season and really performed in true Soprano style.
Unlike many TV shows which tend to deteriorate the longer they go on, Sopranos Season Six lives up to it's true form and is consistent throughout. At the end of episode one Tony is shot by his uncle Junior who's continuing to lose his marbles and has been for some time now.
The following two episodes continue with Tony in a coma in critical condition with little chance of survival. The family...
