...It was so nice to be able to take my daughter to the beach with the arrival of the first of the summer sun. As my daughter is still only 18 months and has very fair skin I am a somewhat paranoid mum and could not stand the thought of my daughter having burnt skin. ...It all started with some bad highlights. I needed to get rid of them quickly, and it seemed that lightening the rest of my hair would be one way to accomplish this. Sun-In has, in my mind, always been associated with blonde 13 year olds on holiday in Benidorm wanting to go that bit blonder without a heavy salon price tag, and with blatant disregard for what it might do to their hair. ...This product is specifically designed for children, it provides a very high level of protection against UVA and UVB rays (factor 40), claims to be extra water resistant and suitable for children's delicate skin as well as being coloured so that you can see where it has been applied (to avoid missing bits!). All of the above reasons made this sun spray seem like an ideal one to use on my little brother on our holiday. Nivea is a brand that I have always used and never had a problem with, so when I saw that tescos were selling two 200ml spray bottles for just £10, I brought this factor 40 kids product for my bother and a bottle of nivea sun spray factor 20 for the rest of us. ...It is, I think, a good idea to confront one's prejudices from time to time, and it would be hard to be more prejudiced than I am against The Sun newspaper. I hardly ever see The Sun in the usual way of things, let alone read it, yet if you asked me to describe it I would have no difficulty in trotting out at least a dozen derogatory adjectives, the most polite of which you will see listed as "Cons" in the summary points above. The fact that The Sun is part of Rupert Murdoch's media empire only serves to redouble my bias against it. The trouble is that I'm such a sad case of bleeding-heart liberal that I'm not truly content to live with knowing I'm prejudiced. ...Let’s face it many people don’t like the Sun. Why don’t they like it? It may not look as intellectual as the Observer or the Financial Times but it still features the main news stories every day. How many people secretly buy the Sun and don’t admit it to their business colleagues because they are too ashamed? ...was completely bamboozled as to which one to buy. I decided to go for a recognised brand, I figured the extortionate price tag would be justified by the quality of the product – but alas no. Home I went and locked myself away in the bathroom for the afternoon – a complete waste of time and money seen as I came out with the exact same colour hair I went in with. ...Well it’s that time of year again and I thought I should write another opinion on something I really know about – sun cream! I live on the Costa del Sol (and it’s lovely, thankyou. The pool is 22C today although I can’t face a swim as I’ve just cleaned the thing. See my Spain ops if you need to know more). I also have the whitest of white sensitive skin and sometimes can’t go out in the day – hence the title. In fact I am very popular in summer as sitting next to me makes anyone look like they have a tan. I never ever tan.
