Ride the Animal Train
Review of Chicco Electronic Animal Train by
Jordon
Advantages: Big buttons, Portable, Strong, Bright colours
Disadvantages: None
...Chicco Electronic Animal Train
Age range: 9-36 months
Batteries require 2 AA sizes
This train was released in 1994 by Chicco who are an Italian company who make baby and pre school products.
It’s shaped in to a Train with a carry handle at the top which is the smoke.
It’s in a white and red background with brightly coloured buttons.
The carry handle is the smoke coming from the train which has eleven blue stars which light up when a button is pressed and also when you turn the train on. As the train has moving wheels you can push the train along but when this is done there is no sound or lights flashing.
So what does the train have and do?
A tour of the train from beginning to end
A red small rectangle shape with 3D lines slopping from left to right. This button makes Choo Choo sound which is repeated twice...

One bad train ride
Review of Virgin Trains by
Samurai_Sam
Advantages: Clean and Comfortable
Disadvantages: Poor service, poor transfers, poor timing.
...I knew that train delays were common through out the UK but a delay of altogether adding up to 5 hours is a pain in the behind.
The train journey began during my Easter holiday 2005, my English Literature teachers (Miss Pye and Miss Quick) had planned a trip to Manchester to go and see Antony and Cleopatra at the Royal Exchange Theatre. We left Newton Abbot trainstation on time and there were no delays on the way up.
But on the way back the train we were suppose to catch back in Manchester was 30minutes late meaning we missed our transfer train and had to wait an hour for the next one. When we arrived in Birmingham we had to wait nearly 3/4 of an hour before our train to Bristol arrived and then that train was delayed but another half an hour. So we missed our train head directly to Newton Abbot from Bristol. Bristol was the real...

Portuguese TGV- The Best Ride I've Had!
Review of Alfa Pendular High Speed Train Service Lisbon-Porto by
bigush
Advantages: Very cheap, Very Comfortable, Very Fast
Disadvantages: Bit too fast to take in the scenery
...get stewardesses, free use of a phone, newspapers, coffee and the children are given complimentary games.
The Alfa is a tilting train and so gives a good ride……..as it were! The journey between the two cities varies from 2 hours 20 minutes to 3 hours depending on the stops.
We will begin our journey in Lisbon; probably the most likely for a tourist. If you're doing it the other way, just read backwards.
There are two stops in Lisbon. The first and most central, Santa Apollonia, is actually the most difficult to get to having no Metro station. The second, 10 minutes later, is Gare De Oriente which is served by the Metro. I recommend the latter. To get to Santa Apollonia you will have to catch a tram or a taxi.
Tickets must be bought in advance. This can be 10 minutes before, unless it is a rush hour service; 07.00 to 09.00 or 17...

Good But Prices Riding High!
Review of Trent Park Riding Centre by
qwerty30
Advantages: well maintained, good facilities, hacking in Trent Park, easy to get to
Disadvantages: busy, disorganised, expensive
...and although I pre-booked my lessons, they continued to place me with instructors that I hadn't previously been taught by. This meant that virtually every lesson, it was back to basics for the first 20 or so minutes while the instructor worked out what I could and couldn't do and while I tried to build my trust in the instructor.
The different instructors can have very different training styles (especially as some are student instructors and some are full-time qualified instructors) and sometimes taught me different and contradictory methods to each other, so time was spent unlearning what I was taught in the previous lesson.
TPEC is a major instructor training centre, so many of the instructors are in the process of being trained.
***TPEC Services***
TPEC also offers specials such as hacking, pub rides, parties pony days/weeks, lunge...

Late Night Trains
Review of Night Train Murders DVD by
sghawken
Advantages: At last uncut and available to buy on high street shelves
Disadvantages: Few have heard of it, and as a result few will buy it
...Shameless films 9th release is one of the original "Video Nasties" banned back in 1984, when the department of public prosecutions with help from scum newspapers The Daily Mail & Daily Express decided to act as the voice of the people (controversially the same scum newspapers have been at it again this last weekend).
Having received some well deserved acclaim for Who Saw Her Die? Italian director Aldo Lado embarked on his next movie. Night Train Murders (AKA Second House On The Left, La Bête tue de sang-froid, Le Dernier train de la nuit, Don't Ride on Late Night Trains etc. etc.) turned out to be a much bigger movie for Lado; unfortunately the marvellous work he had done in the past, was about to be buried under something far more controversial.
Roberto Infascelli had been to America and had seen a movie by Wes Craven (Scream...

Theroux Trouble in Little China
Review of Riding the Iron Rooster (By Train Through China) - Paul Theroux by
fizzytom
Advantages: Great cultural and historical perspectives
Disadvantages: Incessant grumbling of author becomes tiresome
...In recent years, China has, for me, lost some of its mysterious aura which has intrigued travelers for years. With the Beijing Olympics not far away, China is starting to open up to the outside world and is now at the heart of all kinds of statistics, used to illustrate just how much China is changing - that it is the world's biggest consumer of steel or that it has the fastest growing number of mobile phone users, for example.
Paul Theroux's "Riding the Iron Rooster" was published in 1988; he had spent one year traveling China by train, covering the whole country in a series of trips (the "Iron Rooster" is the name of just one of the trains he travels on) during which he gave his impressions not only of the country and its customs but also the Chinese people. The trip takes him from the frozen forests of Manchuria, through the wilds...

Ride in Clint Eastwoods hoofprints!
Review of Horse riding holidays at Desert Riders Spain by
pickseh
Advantages: Stunning views, well trained horses, friendly hosts, amazing value for money!
Disadvantages: Very hot in summer! Take lots of suntan lotion!
...(yes, canyons, it sounds like arizona or something not spain!!!)
They've got a really good arena aswell, so if you want any lessons or want to just do some jumping or flatwork then thats there for you. Their horses are really well trained and they really know what they're doing. I love Spain but i've often found some Spanish trekking centres sort of treat their horses like cattle. Carole and Robert treat their horses like family and they are very experienced. Carole ran BHS approved riding schools in the UK all her life practically and you can really tell. I would class myself as an experienced and very competent rider who's just been out of the saddle for a long time due to work and other commitments. going to Villa Roxmar just made me pine to own my own horses again!! Or at least make more of an effort to get out and ride back...

Virgin Trains Out Accross England. (edited)
Review of Virgin Trains by
james564
Advantages: Nice fast trains, crappy old ones as well, comfort.
Disadvantages: Ticket prices. Timetable, Not many seats.
...Trains :..
The tickets are miles too expensive. If i bought a Virgin ticket for Watford to Birmingham it would have been £14.95 one-way, thats outstandingly high when Silverlink do ANY route for about £6. But i think the poshness and speed makes up for this.
..: Network :..
Virgin have extended their network all over the country so you can basically get to any main station by getting on ONE train rather than changing!
..: Would I Ever Go Virgin Again :..
Yes, definatly. They are fast, clean and i dare say reliable! I actually enjoyed riding the rails today!
..: Website :..
For more information about Virgin Trains visit http://www.virgintrains.co.uk/

Virgin train virgin?
Review of Virgin Trains by
Moonstorm
Advantages: Comfortable in a lot of ways
Disadvantages: Expensive food!
...Aberdeen to Penzance and Brighton to North Wales which they have aligned new trains for which have a tilting mechanism which allows an extra 6 degrees tilt allowing them to lean around curves up to 20% faster and which also gives a more comfortable ride!
They have a first class lounge area ideal for business travel within certain locations such as London, Manchester and Birmingham, stoke-on-trent and coventry, which includes free drinks, snacks and a newspaper! Other facilities Euston (London) lounge includes is a bar, photocopier, quiet room, private telephone area, showers and washrooms!
But you will need to show a First Open, Virgin Business, Virgin Value First or Virgin Groupies First same day ticket.
It appears that anyone travelling with Virgin trains with disabilities or special needs, need to inform the company 24 hours...

What shall I see?
Review of The Train Ride - June Crebbin by
danielalong
Advantages: Lovely rhythmical text
Disadvantages: None
...The Train Ride
Very simple story with a great rhythmic structure, making it perfect as an early book to read to young children
The story is basically following a little girl and her mum as they go on a train journey. The front cover of the book shows us a very simplified picture of a large red train with the driver looking out of the window as they travel through lush fields and the smoke billows out of the train chimney.
We start the book and the rhythm becomes clear. The little girl comments that they are going on a journey and the next question "What shall I see? What shall I see?" She says that she sees sheep and cows "That's what I see. That's what I see". It's easy to anticipate the structure of the story. The little girl makes a statement about where they are going whether that be over a hill, under a tunnel or talks...
