T-Mobile MDA Vario II
Review of T-Mobile MDA Vario II by
voodoo_melon
Advantages: Nice size/weight, bright screen, very connctable
Disadvantages: Short, light stylus
...I've had my Vario II (also known as HTC Hermes, HTC TyTn, Orange SPV M3100 among others) a couple of weeks now and am very pleased with it. It's currently running Windows Mobile 5 (which it comes with as standard), which handles all tasks fine. The screen is nice and bright and very easy to read, despite being smaller than a normal PDA. It's a nice size and makes my old Acer n10 seem big and bulky. Loads of connection options - IrDA, bluetooth, wifi, usb2, GPRS/3G mean you've got loads of was of using it. Being on T-Mobile it also comes with MSN Messenger (other networks remove it but you can get it back with an upgrade to Windows Mobile 6) which along with email, texts and mms mean it's easy to keep in contact.
It runs Tomtom 6 nicely (although it needs a small patch available on the net) and gives you a Transflash/MicroSD slot...

That little extra
Review of HTC TyTN by
falla
Advantages: Built in keyboard, intuitive quick-launch buttons, easy to navigate, WIFI, Bluetooth, 3G
Disadvantages: sometimes slows down, quite bulky
...The HTC TyTn is the mobile solution for those who require a little bit more from their phone.
TyTN comes equipped with windows mobile 5.0 including services like word, exel and even power point, but the service that perhaps comes as most convenient is the Outlook service that can easily be linked up to your email account to ensure that you will always be connected.
You will never loose track of your appointments either because the planner is always visible on the starter screen, with your next appointment highlighted in brief, and you can add many details and notes on the different appointments, all easily viewable through a couple of clicks on the screen.
One of the best parts of the phone is its built in keyboard, with practically the same setup as a regular computer keyboard, with the exception of having to press a button before...

The ultimate PDA Phone
Review of HTC TyTN by
theenglishviet
Advantages: Does absolutely everything (nearly), great for business
Disadvantages: Can be slow at times, no SD slot (only MicroSD)
...This phone has been hyped by phone enthusiasts ever since it was announced by HTC. This phone has been rebranded by the UK's leading network operators as follows:
Vodafone V1605 Compact III
Tmobile MDA Vario II
Orange MPV M3100
The reason why this phone was so much anticipated by phone enthusiasts is simply due to its specifications. Have a look:
Network: HSDPA / GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 / EDGE
(That is this phone is QuadBand, and runs on 3G)
TFT touchscreen, 65K colors
240 x 320 pixels, 42 x 57 mm
(2.5" touchscreen display)
QWERTY keyboard
(an innovative sliding keyboard)
- 64 MB RAM, 128 MB ROM
- 400 Mhz Samsung processor
(remember the days where the home computer had a 400Mhz processor?)
WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11b/g
(thats right, wireless network to connect to your home wireless network or a wifi hotspot - The sony ericsson p990i...

Great combination device for the gadget lover.
Review of I-Mate K-JAM by
fcampbell
Advantages: Slide-out keyboard, touch-screen, Windows Mobile 5
Disadvantages: No 3G, slightly lacking in power
...synchronise with your laptop/PC. Contacts, emails, notes etc are all merged seamlessly, and you can decide what's synchronised. You can also explore and transfer documents via ActiveSync.
Its a shame that the K-JAM doesn't have 3G, and a slightly more powerful processor. With these additions, it really would be the perfect solution. The HTC TyTn has these, but doesn't look quite so good - it's probably a slightly better option than this though....

Still a great game
Review of Civilization 2 (PC) by
Sputnik2000
Advantages: Addictive, long, open, even educational
Disadvantages: No multiplayer, dated graphics and sounds
...It may be old, but Civilization II is still a great game. Addictive, interesting, large, challenging – just a few words to describe one of the best games ever. Incase you don’t know, CivII is a turn-based strategy game in which you have to build up an empire from a single city, taxing, researching, building and conquering on your way. Starting in ancient times, CivII goes through centuries of developments and inventions, up to the present and beyond. There is, I think, an infinite number of turns you can take – although the scoring system stops in the early 21st century after you’ve sent a spaceship to Alpha Centurai. Civilisation II is very versatile, letting you do pretty much what you want – build up an all-conquering military empire, a naval superpower, or just a peaceful co-operating society. It is also very challenging...
