Excellent Hong Kong Hotel
Advantages: Great transportation links
Disadvantages: none
...When trying to decide on a hotel for our trip to Hong Kong we did a lot of research and opted for the Metro Park Hotel in Causeway bay rather than its sister hotel in Kowloon. This was mainly due to its location in a quieter part of town and its superb transport links. The hotel is roughly three quarters of an hour from the airport and the bus to the airport stops at the door of the hotel, as our transport was included we did not use that option. It is well located too with the MTR station being just along the road, the trams passing the end of the road and the bus to Stanley also just a short walk away. The hotel also runs free transport to Causeway Bay shopping area and also Wan Chai for the conference centre and star ferry.
The hotel has car parking on the ground floor and you enter the reception on the first floor by lift...

Sleeping in Hong Kong
Advantages: affordable,convenient
Disadvantages: nnone worth mentioning
...This month I had the pleasure of going to Hong Kong on a research trip with two other recent graduates and a lecturer in sociology. It was an amazing trip and I am sure I will write more about it very soon indeed. But this review is about our base, the Charterhouse Hotel.
The hotel is on Wan Chai Road on Hong Kong Island, a very convenient base for sightseeing, shopping, eating and basically everything. Wan Chai Road is between Wan Chai MTR (metro) station and Causeway Bay station, a 5 minute walk between the two.
The website is www.charterhouse.com, which may give you more information. As this trip was funded by research committees, we booked standard rooms, which were single rooms with an en suite, at about £50 a night including breakfast. The website illustrates the deluxe rooms and suites, but our budget did not stretch to...

Disney Hong Kong Style
Advantages: Quiet
Disadvantages: Not very big
...Hong Kong Disneyland is situated on Lantau Island where it was built on reclaimed land. It was opened in 2005 and covers approximately 100 acres though expansion plans are in the pipeline this is the smallest of the Disneyland resorts. It is very easy to get to from Hong Kong as the MTR runs there with the last leg of the journey from Sunny Bay station being on a Disney themed train with Mickey windows and hand pull also in the shape of Mickeys head which the children loved.
It is laid out like most Disney parks you enter and arrived first at the
Main Street USA
Attractions here are the Hong Kong Disneyland railroad which can take you a tour round the park with one stop in Fantasyland.
Main Street vehicles that tour up and down Main St
The Disney Story this tells you all about disney and the creation of the park.

Hong Kong PHEWEY
Advantages: some nice sights
Disadvantages: the stench, the cleanliness, the pollution........
...I'm BACK!!! OK, so you didn't miss me, didn't even know I was gone probably, but nevertheless I'm going to use this opportunity to tell you what I've been up to and give you the run down on Hong Kong? Asia's world city?
Back in May, I fled the country to go and work for a couple of months in a place that is renowned as one of the world's most vibrant cultural cities. In my time there I got to see a lot of Hong Kong and experience the culture from the viewpoint of both someone living there and of being a tourist, so I should have plenty of experiences to share with you?.and thus begins my novel?.
So let's start with Hong Kong's good points.
The first thing that strikes you when you land in Hong Kong, is the heat and humidity. The heat at a pleasant 30 degrees is nice. The humidity however was at 96 per cent when I landed so to...

Disney Hong Kong - Where dreams sort of come true!
Advantages: All rides, shows and fire works display included in your ticket price
Disadvantages: Alot smaller than imagined
...HONG KONG DISNEY LAND - June 2007
This theme park opened in 2005 so it is fairly new and is 126 Hectares. It has four lands which are Fantasyland, Adventure Land, Tommorowland and Main Street USA, which all have there own theme and different rides!
TRANSPORT
We got a taxi reasonably cheap there and back from our hotel in Kowloon and it was very easy as we didnt have to wait in any queues for buses or trains. You need to be careful of taxi drivers as they will try to charge you double the toll price. Check with your hotel how much this is before getting a taxi. We had been previously warned and our taxi driver was trying to charge us twice the toll amount and we asked him why this was and he backed down and played dumb. in the end we didn't have to pay twice the toll.
Another way to get to...

The Pride of Hong Kong
Advantages: Great Views
Disadvantages: Uncomfortable seats
...When on our trip to Hong Kong one of the thing on our to do list was a trip to Victoria peak to take in the marvellous view and ride on the famous peak tram.
The History
The tram has been in existence since 1888 when it was officially opened by the Governor and in these days the wooden tram was powered by coal fired boilers. It was not till 1926 that it was changed to electricity and the enlarged carriage could carry 52 people. After the second World War the all metal tram was introduced and increased in size to carry 62 passengers, then 11 years later a fully enclosed carriage was introduced made of aluminium and able to carry 72 people. However in 1989 it was modernised introducing new technology and new trams that could carry 120 passengers.
Today
The peak tram is a double reversible funicular railway which these days is...

Hong Kong, Hell or Paradise
Advantages: Fantastic night life. Luxury hotels Great food
Disadvantages: Pollution Traffic jams. Frenetic and tiring
...Over the last 20 years or so I have visited Hong Kong five times and believe it or not I still cannot make up my mind
whether it is like entering paradise or hell. Equally I have to admit I hate the place during the day when it seems so grey and the people are just like like ants scampering around whilst loving it at night when it seems to me to be visually one of the most colourful and exciting spots on earth.
On the plus side this Asian dynamo, once called " A Barren Rock",is ever adaptable and pragmatic. Witness,eg, its smooth transition from British colony to its SAR identity. Then last year Hong Kong managed to attract some 10.7 million tourists who spent an estimated HK$1.53 billion- so it really must have a lot going for it.
It has some of the finest and most luxurious hotels in the world, wonderful places like the Grand...

Hong Kong
Advantages: Clean, safe city which is really alive.
Disadvantages: It's a long, long flight.
...Hong Kong
Hong Kong offers so much for the visitor. Those who are seeking a clean, safe venue for their holiday, where you can stroll - even late at night - with nobody approaching you; choose from a huge selection of modern hotels; eat at a wide choice of restaurants, and have an excellent modern transport system will not be disappointed. For the kids there are their favourites - MacDonalds, KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants.
How to get there:
There are many travel companies offering packages, but to save money book a flight and hotel online. Try Travelbag, Opodo, Thomas Cook and any of the airlines - Cathay Pacific, KLM Royal Dutch Airline, Virgin Atlantic, Quantas, British Airways all have flights every day.
If you are planning well in advance, check the prices every day as they change frequently. Almost always you...

Ocean Park Hong Kong - loved it and hated it all in one go!
Advantages: Fantastic animals & animal shows
Disadvantages: Really difficult to navigate, death trap of a cable car
...We went to Hong Kong in January 2009. We were on our Honeymoon and spent a few days here before flying off to Malaysia. We tried to fit in as much as we could whilst there and one of the things we did was take a visit to Ocean Park.
So how did we get there?
Ocean Park operates its own bus service from the central bus terminal loacted next to a central metro station. It is really easy to get around on the metro, so no problem at all getting to the bus.
Cost
At the bus teminal we had the option to pay for a return bus journey and entry into the park. We chose this option for ease and because it was relatively inexpensive. We had no idea what the entry fee would be when we got to the park. I believe we paid about a tenner each - not bad for for transport both ways and the entry fee.
Arrival at the park...

Tips and Ideas for a great Hong Kong stay
Advantages: Exciting, vibrant, loads to do, islands to visit, tons of shopping
Disadvantages: Often smoggy, baking hot and lots of rain in the summer!
...After an 11 night stay in the wonderfully exciting Hong Kong, which took a year to research and plan, I'd like to share some tips and ideas with others who are thinking about a visit to this vibrant place.
- Langham Place Hotel. If you're looking for a top-quality hotel that won't break the bank then do consider staying at this stunning hotel. We loved the exciting, vibrant Mong Kok location. It's cheaper than other 5 star properties simply because it's away from the tourist trap area of TST, but it's right on the MTR line.
- InterContinental Hotel. If, however, you want the most stunning harbour views, then this hotel has the very best because it's right on the waterfront in TST. It's a top-class hotel but it comes at a very high price. There's really no point staying here in a room that doesn't directly face the harbour...
