He saw this and thought I would enjoy it, I do, but it's not the full length version. So a little about the album, please do not get it mixed up with the films, it does follow the storyline but it is the musical version. ~~ A Little History ~~ We can trace the story of War of the Worlds back to its author H.G.Wells who published his book in 1898. He was a science fiction writer and his book was about the Martians invading England. ...World War Two In Colour Face to Face is a truly remarkable documentary film. It consists of rare colour film footage, shot during the evil and desperate days that made up the Second World War. The film was, in the main, all shot by film cameramen who were military personnel. Who genuinely braved the same hardships and difficulties that beset their military colleagues, compatriots and fellow combatants. As the commentary on the DVD points out, the vast majority of people involved in the Second World War (the notes actually use the term "men") never had any experience of combat whatsoever. The figure quoted on the notes claim that as many as five out of six did not experience any combat, at all. I must admit that I found that figure rather surprising. It is set in the immediate future, with Iraq and the war on terror still very much the current issues of the time. The book begins dramatically with an attack on the Indian Parliament by muslim terrorists. The Indian Prime Minister Vasant Metha finds himself helping to fight off the attack alongside his daughter Meenashki. A few days later the President of Pakistan is assassinated which serves as the trigger for a series of uprisings by Muslim extremists in East Asia. Meanwhile a US military base in Japan is hit by a North Korean missile and a sample of the smallpox vaccine disappears from a laboratory in Russia. Disadvantages: No-one understands where it's coming from! It's Based on the 1898 HG Wells Novel!!!

...PLOT (for those who haven't seen it) As normal life prevails for Ray Ferrier (Tom Cruise), suddenly without any warning whatsoever the Earth is invaded by alien tripod fighting machines with no mercy and engage merciless combat upon arrival. Ray must protect himself and his family as they fight for survival. The DVD Special edition includes 1 DVD with main feature (the film) and 1 DVD of extras of how they made the film. I would HIGHLY recommend this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it, but please let me tell you why... INTRODUCTION No-one can slag this film off if they don't know the history of the War of the Worlds. This was NOT based on the 1953 film version as this was not the original!! (as many of you seem to think!). There have been 4 versions of this story. ...i know strictly speaking this review is only for volume 2 but as i did not buy the box set and got the world at war in 5 seperate parts. I have combined my review. THE WORLD AT WAR DVD COLLECTION This is the definitive collection of documentaries from WWII. Coming to us more than 30 years after it was initially broadcast. It is narrated by academy award winner, Sir Lawrence Olivier. I bought all 5 volumes from retrowarez-promotions on ebay. Priced at £6.79 each with £2 postage. Volume 1 runs for 417 minutes, and features archival footage from 1933-1942 doocumenting the rise of the Nazis in Germany. And the start of the war. It also includes the making of. And more. Volume 2 features archival footage fro 1939 –1944 and documents the Russian victories and the bombing raids in England. It runs for 432 minutes. And more... Read review

...AIR BATTLES OF WORLD WAR TWO This DVD is another great documentation from battles fought in world war 2. This DVD features some dramatic dog fights over Britain, fought between British and German pilots during the Battle of Britain. And the Japanese Zeros versus the American Hellcats and corsairs over the pacific. And the USAAF raid on the ploesti oilfields in Romania. The DVD contains an Interactive menu, scene selection, previews on other war files titles. Having had family who fought in WWII it fascinates me to see the kinds of things that they had to go through. It is great being able to learn more about our history, as during my whole time in school all of our history studies revolved around Russia and Germany. Which even then just did not seem to make sense to me. And so I embarked on my journey of learning about... Read review

This review will cover the unexpected storms that hit America and the extra terrestrials that look down upon us from over-head. Those of us who have read HG Well's classic novel will not be disappointed by Spielberg's remake of this sci-fi classic. The opening sequence begins when the screen fades up; a close up shot of microscopic bacteria suggests that disease is important in this film. Chromosomes engulf the screen and continue to ease out. When the molecules morph into a single water droplet the voice-over comes in. 'No one would have believed that our Earth was being watched'. Morgan Freeman uses this line, which signifies something in the gulf of space is watching the planet... Read review
