Writer Tim Herlihy and director Frank Coraci bring us an endless series of references to Rubik's Cubes, "Miami Vice," David Lee Roth, the novelty of CDs and Frankie Goes to Hollywood, among others. By the two-thirds mark, the horse has been beaten well beyond the point of demise and the plot's predictability has gone from cloying to annoying. But there are a lot of funny moments and actors to keep The Wedding Singer afloat to the end. The opening scene, with a schmaltzy Sandler working a wedding reception with a Dead or Alive song then neatly saving the moment when the groom's drunken brother (Steve Buscemi) makes an ass of himself, made me optimistic. ...Here are some of my ideas and ways to cheaply budget for a traditional wedding! Note – traditional – as there are generally cheaper ways to married then this! ...As a few of you may be aware I am due to get married on the 1st September. So I thought I would be nice to write a review on how to plan a wedding on a budget! We are paying for the wedding ourselves as parents aren’t able to help. We decided to keep it small and personal due to costs. I have tried to include everything in my review and hope that it helps other couples to see you can have a wonderful day without it costing an arm and a leg. ...Setting the scene... WH Smiths, Stanstead Airport - waiting for my flight for a week away from all things wedding. I pick up a book to read during my sunshine break but don't really take a lot of notice of it until I'm sat on the plane and I think 'I've come on holiday to get away from wedding talk and I end up picking up a book about, funnily enough Weddings!' I am sooo silly sometimes!! The Author This book is by Patricia Scanlan. Author of many other popular novels including Francesca's Party, City Girl, City lives, City woman, Apartment 3b to name a few. ...I got married in August 2000 and as most couples, we wanted our wedding day captured on film (photo version) so that we have plenty of memories of what was an absolutely brilliant day. The weather was warm and sunny, with clear blue skies and a nice breeze to prevent overheating! The venue was great and we had the wedding and reception at the same place, a pub/hotel/restaurant!!! The only thing required was a good photographer who could be trusted to produce the quality you expected for the photos of your big day. Obviously, if there is a mess up and the photos are awful, there’s nothing you can do about it – you can’t have the day again!
