Reviews of the wii
Wow Wii
Review of Nintendo Wii by
Nathan_Innit
Advantages: Makes up for Gamecube's short comings
Disadvantages: Doesn't keep up on raw power
...This may sound hard to believe but as of March 8th the Wii will have been on the European market for four months, that's a third of a year, and I can't believe it has been that long since the stories of console shortages and flying controllers hit the news. For those that live under a rock, the Wii is Nintendo's fifth home console, following in the footsteps of; NES, SNES, N64 and Gamecube. I say following in the footsteps, but in the sense of 'what comes next', the Nintendo Wii took a giant leap that needed to be taken in order to keep Nintendo in competition with Sony and Microsoft. They created a console with a motion sensing controller.
Wii was always coming, because you can always be sure that as long as there is going to be a next generation of computer games, Nintendo shall be involved. Nintendo aren't used to battling though...

I play, You play, Wii all play together
Review of Wii Play (Wii) by
sit2020
Advantages: Family fun
Disadvantages: none
...Nintendo's new baby called the Nintendo Wii has taken the gaming world by storm; it is not its amazing graphics (they are not amazing, but they are adequate though) or some new super sound system.
It is the game play and its new way of using controllers to enhance the game playing experience.
Wii play I would say is a must have game. For a start it comes with a Wii remote controller (the wireless controller for the Wii) thus allowing two player games.
More importantly is you have to play each level (or mini game) before you unlock the next game and progress onward through the game. Each game is more challenging and introduces more ways in which the Wii remote can be used. Challenging might be too strong a word as once played a couple of times all the games become easier and above all fun.
This game really gives you a great...

Wii SPORTS IS BIGGER THAN YOU THINK!
Review of Wii Sports (Wii) by
mdstone
Advantages: Hours of fun, great multiplayer action, get the best out of your Wii remote
Disadvantages: Limited sequences for single player gameplay
...If you're thinking of purchasing a Nintendo Wii then you will want to know what the included Wii Sports pack has to offer. Wii Sports is bundled with every Wii console and includes a compilation of 5 multiplayer games consisting of Tennis, Bowling, Baseball, Golf and Boxing. All game modes offer you the chance to set records by getting the best possible score every time you play.
The games are designed to bring out the best in the Wii remote in terms of performing swings and throws etc. They are also designed as being fun party games so don't expect too much of a single player mode on these as this is better kept for dedicated sports games.
Miis
******
The first thing you should do before playing the game is to create your own Wii character referred to as a Mii. This is something you can do from your console's main menu...

Living With The Wii
Review of Nintendo Wii by
4ku-Papa
Advantages: Fun for everyone. Easy, intuitive controls. Good Graphics :P
Disadvantages: Internet setup complicated. No DVD playback.
...After living with our Nintendo Wii for a good six weeks now, I thought I'd post a half-term report on how we, as a family, are living with this extraordinary little console. There are other excellent reviews on the in's, out's and wherefore's of the Wii but I thought I'd give you an idea of what it's like after the initial excitement has died down. I also mention Wii Sports which, considering it comes free with the console, I thought to be a pertinent addition to the review. Please see the end of this review for links to other excellent reviews that go into detail of what is included in the Wii package.
We bought our Wii at the beginning of November 2007, just before the big boom in demand. We paid £230 for it off Ebay and it came from Germany as it seemed to be the only place it was available. The RRP is £179.00 and yes, we...

WII'RE AT THE RACES
Review of Mario Kart Wii (Wii) by
nathaninnit
Advantages: Online experience will last you until a better game
Disadvantages: Wii specific improvements are the exact opposite
...perfectly as the first site of this leap forwards as it meant you could play MK on-the-go. This leads us on to the release of the sixth Mario Kart title, simply known as Mario Kart Wii. With the progressions made, online play was a must, but there is also the much needed discussion on how the title would fit in with the Wii's new unique control system. To make up for Nintendo's slow progress in getting a release date for its Mario-based fighting venture, 'Super Smash Bros Brawl', they treated us to an early European release -- whilst America shall have to wait until the end of April -- although is MK Wii really a worthy title to be fobbed off with until Brawl?
CONTROLS
Mario Kart Wii comes free with the Wii Wheel, a circular lump of white plastic to put your Wii remote controller in to allow you to make pretend you are driving...

Shall Wii Play?
Review of Wii Play (Wii) by
Magrippinho
Advantages: Includes Wii Remote, 9 quick games
Disadvantages: Repetitive, Basic
...The gaming revolution has begun, with Nintendo leaving the life-like renditions and uncanny simulations to the competition and trying to focus on the most fun, approachable aspects of video-games instead. Nintendo never fails to deliver true masterpieces in each generation, but their sporadic nature hasn't allowed for the Big N's return to the top of the industry this past decade. With that in mind, the Wii puts a lot of faith in the simple "party" games that take full advantage of the Wiimote and its unique features. Wii Sports already showed us how to get non-gamers frantically flailing their arms in front of a television and Wii Play follows in a similar vain, with a selection of 9 "instructional" games. It is a case of quantity versus quality, but as the deal is sweetened with the inclusion of a free Wii Remote, Wii Play just might...

Wii love it!
Review of Nintendo Wii by
oxonian
Advantages: Revolutionary, innovative and tremendously fun
Disadvantages: If any, the remote can fly out of hand and break TV screen
...I have been a console gamer for nearly 20 years. I have played on nearly every decent console that has existed, none of which has largely differentiated in terms of how you play the game. All have involved inserting a joypad into the computer and controlling the action on screen with the D-pad and a few buttons.
You'd have thought it would probably always be this way... well think again. In 2006, the world was introduced to the most innovative, ingenius and incredible gaming system the world has seen - the Nintendo Wii. It had parents and avid gamers hitting the shops like a tidal wave to get it. Over a year on, and it's still very hard to obtain. You still have the likes of GAME, Gamestation and HMV saying "Wii's in stock", and the interest it attracts has hardly diminished.
In May 2007, after months of falling victim to more...

Wii Sports - Best Free Console Game Ever
Review of Wii Sports (Wii) by
sosull
Advantages: Free, 7 modes in total, 5 different sport modes to play, lots of additional training modes
Disadvantages: Graphics could be a little bit better. baseball feels a little TOO tough
...Unless you happen to be considering a Wii purchase in Japan, your Wii Console will come bundled with a full copy of Wii Sports; Nintendo's free bundled game which I feel adds extra value to your initial purchase.
There's no escaping the fact that Wii Sports is not just a friendly gesture from Nintendo, but a "demo-of-sorts" for the fantastic Wii-mote controller and the accompanying Nunchuk. For those who have played older consoles, such as the PlayStation 2, you will almost all be familiar with the 'two hand' style controller and so the change to the Wii-mote / Nunchuk combination is a little different.
Wii Sports comes with 5 different Sports games in which you can play through, as well as a Training Mode and a Fitness Mode. I'll go into the two latter modes in a little while, but first let us take a look at the main 5 Sports...

The Nintendo Wii...A must have!
Review of Nintendo Wii by
powellandrew
Advantages: Cheap, new way of playing!
Disadvantages: Graphics are still a little weak.. and lacks serious gaming.
...¬| The Nintendo Wii ¬|
This Christmas I have been given a Nintendo Wii, which I had originally preordered with GAME, but for some reason they decided to cancel my preorder, just as most shops nationwide went out of stock. I then found the website STUDIO which is reliable, cheap and easy to use, thankfully they still had some in stock. This was the return of Nintendo into a serious contender race with the Xbox and Playstation.
Since the N64 came out, a massive hit throughout the world, Nintendo seemed to have lost its magic touch. Now, I believe that it has finally become the superior games console, with hits such as Zelda Twilight Princess, Red Steel, Mario Super Galaxy!
Firstly, the Wii has specifications of:
-88 MB main memory
-Two USB 2.0 ports.
-Up to four Wii Remote controllers (connected wirelessly by Bluetooth...
