Luxury hotel, great weekend rates
Review of Royal Windsor Hotel, Brussels by  free14

Advantages: Central location, bargain weekend rates include excellent buffet breakfast
Disadvantages: Rooms slightly on the small size. Expensive to stay during the week

...This luxury hotel does cheap weekend rates, which makes it a great place for a short city-break. It is centrally located, and is just a few minutes walk from the Grande Place, the picturesque main square. The Royal Windsor offers all the trappings of a high-class hotel: 24 hour room service, fitness club, laundry service, garage, sauna etc. etc. The multi-channel TV has pay-per-view movies and even the UK channels BBC 1 & 2. The en-suite bathrooms are well equipped and the bedrooms are generally very nice if a little on the small size. I found the room got a little stuffy but the windows can be opened and it is not too noisy to sleep with them open. If you are lucky enough to be assigned one of the rooms on the Godiva floor then not only do you get an even more opulent room you also get free box of Godiva chocolates - alas, having... Marriott Slough did not win, Sir!
Review of Slough Windsor Marriott Hotel by  andymcf

Advantages: Location. Child friendly.
Disadvantages: Location. Rather too child-friendly!

...Marriott must be absolutely mad! Slough not only sounds disgusting, it even has a poem written about it. In 1937, Sir John Betjeman wrote famously wrote: "Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough! It isn't fit for humans now, There isn't grass to graze a cow. Swarm over, Death!" And many more lines ensue; you get the picture, I'm sure! The first paragraph sets the scene, anyway, for this new town adjacent to London's Heathrow airport. Holiday destination it ain't! And yet Marriott call this hotel "Marriott Slough / Windsor". Why not settle for Windsor (which, with its imposing castle and idyllic location on the river Thames, is lovely)? In the AA hotel guide, you won't find this hotel listed under Slough - nor under Windsor. Nope - look under Heathrow Airport and you'll find it there, just adjacent to junction 5 of the M4... The Copthorne Rules!
Review of Copthorne Hotel Slough-Windsor by  andymcf

Advantages: Convenient location. Good service. Great food.
Disadvantages: Difficult to criticise. I'd have liked a smoking room!

...I wonder! D'you remember the first record you ever bought? The first film you ever saw at the cinema? Your first girlfriend / boyfriend? And other such important rites of passage? Answers on a postcard... More to the point, do you remember the first "decent" hotel you ever stayed at? Speaking for myself, most of the answers to the above questions are a tad awkward, but the first really decent hotel I recall staying at was actually this one, some ten years or so ago, whilst attending an interview to become a Mathematics teacher at a rather large school near Slough called Eton College (you may have heard of it, but it matters not if you haven't). It was thus with a wry smile that I received an e-mail from Priceline telling me that I was to stay at the Copthorne Slough / Windsor, and for a bargain price of just £45, for baby Josh's most... Royal Windsor - not just a Castle
Review of Windsor in General by  Kianastar

Advantages: Beautiful architecture, on the Thames, plenty of B&Bs
Disadvantages: Pricy, can get busy esp weekends

...My first impression of Windsor as the train pulled into Windsor and Eton Riverside station was "Whoa, castle!" The castle sits on a hill overlooking the town of Windsor, and as it is the largest inhabited castle in the world, it is seriously impressive. The town isn't just about the castle (although I do highly recommend a visit), or its other major attraction, Legoland. The area around the castle itself is quite geared for tourists – Thames St and High St are dotted with a mix of souvenir shops and fast food outlets – but once you get away from these touristy areas there are a wealth of other things that make Windsor a great place to visit. The main shopping street, Peascod St, is pedestrianised and contains the usual mix of chain outlets such as Gap and M&S. To the east of here is an architecture conservation area, which... Windsor Life
Review of Windsor Life Assurance Co Ltd by  limara111

Advantages: trouble free investments
Disadvantages: not managed by company

...Introduction: I have been a customer of Windsor Life for about 15 years so I thought it might be useful for me to share my experiences with you. I took out a private pension and a long term Additional Wealth Plan with them shortly after buying my home. A little background on Windsor Life: Windsor Life Assurance was purchased in 2004 by Swiss Re Group, which has been a well known insurer to other insurance companies since 1860. Its headquarters in the UK are in Telford and has managed more than 75 million in funds under management. It specialises in investments be they lump sum, regular savings, life insurance or pensions. When I took out my policies it was with General Portfolio, however they then changed name to GAN and then were taken over or sold to Windsor Life. My good experiences with the company: I have been... Windsor. Well Worth Visiting
Review of Windsor in General by  ashford

Advantages: Royal town, Hstory. Culture. Great Tea Rooms,
Disadvantages: Very touristy. Gets Crowded in the Peak Season

...The skyline of the Royal Borough of Windsor is dominated by the very spectacular castle with its large round tower, battlements and pinnacles. Windsor castle was built by William the Conqueror and has been lived in and added to by virtually every monarch in the nine centuries that followed. Today,it is the largest inhabited castle in the world and the Royal Family frequently spend time here. You can visit the State Apartments where the suites of rooms are all very richly furnished. One should add that they also contain some wonderful art treasures with paintings by old masters such as Rembrandt,Holbein,Canaletto and Rubens as well as the likes of Chinese ceramcs and collections of arms and armour. It is also well worth while taking a look at St. George's Chapel which has an exceptional perpendicular Gothic ceiling. The chapel is the final... Read review

Legoland Windsor
Review of Legoland Windsor by  mummyno4

Advantages: Many different attractions which include unique sculptures made from LEGO
Disadvantages: A day is not really enough to explore the whole park.

...Lego Land Windsor What can I say, I went here on a school trip with my daughter, we travelled via coach which took around 1 ½ hours to get there. My personally opinion this is too long for children to be on a coach, especially 5/6 year olds. But this was more to do with the school, and not the place. Also this hinders you as you do not have as much time to explore the park. Now the park itself has plenty of Attractions from towns and building built entirely form LEGO, to rides. The most amazing thing about the park is the Lego and what can be achieved with time effort and plenty of money. Throughout the Park are man made sculptures made form LEGO, including a girl and boy which are situated outside the toilets. These were a great idea as the children new exactly which toilet to go to. So keep your eyes open as you... Read review

where Michael Palin stayed !!!
Review of Windsor Hotel Cairo, Cairo by  orcada

Advantages: Fantastic atmosphered bar and very cheap
Disadvantages: waiting for hot water

...This is another one of several hotels I've enjoyed staying in whilst in Cairo and wanted to stay there after Michael Palins review of it. If I recall correctly it's a 3 star. greeted at the reception by a polite gentleman who checked us in, we asked to see a room of which we were shown two, after ascending in the original elevator complete with it's original fittings (one of those brass dial controllers operated by the attendant) both rooms seemed averagely clean for the money and the en-suite bathroom and toilet were very old and original. (this used to be a british officers residence in the 1950's I believe) both rooms had single beds so we settled for the 4th floor one. the place has gots loads of character and is very well preserved. The bar is excellent, with barrel type seats, and a knowledgable bar attendant, who seemed... Read review

Legoland Windsor - Great family day out
Review of Lego Land, Windsor, London by  bobbetta

Advantages: Plenty of rides for the whole family to go on together/shoes+special events
Disadvantages: You could end up spending a fortune on top of the entrance price

...First things first-Where is Legoland and how do you get there? Legoland in England is situated in windsor a very lovely part of England. We( My son my friend and I )travelled here by car ,Legoland is on the B3022 windsor/Ascot road just 2 miles from windsor town centre.Legoland is within easy reach via the M25 and is clearly sign posted from M3 (JUNCTION 3) m4(junction 6) and all approaches. Parking is free although if you want to be SUPER CLOSE to the park you can pay starting from £5.00 (personally I thought the standard car park was close enough-less then 5 mins walk away-Don't forget where you leave your car!!). ANYWAY!! Opening times vary throughout the year depending on when you go the park uses the following opening tiimes 10am-5pm/10am-6pm/10am-7pm (opens later for all of August) We arrived in time to enter the park... Brick your pants at Legoland Windsor
Review of Legoland Windsor by  nigeofnewbury

Advantages: Friendly staff, good facilities, easy to reach
Disadvantages: Th egift shop prices !

...or the website is wrong ! ~~~ Getting There ~~~ As I live in Newbury, Berkshire, getting to Legoland was very easy - hop onto the M4 and leave at junction 6 heading towards Windsor. Legoland is clearly signposted from the M4 and if I can find it then anybody can (I still get lost going to my mum's house). If you take the train then you can travel direct to Windsor and then catch one of the regular buses from the station straight to the park. The road system within the park has a speed limit of 20mph which is blatently ignored by some people who obviously consider themselves such good drivers that they can safely stop if a young child runs out in front of them, no matter what speed they are doing. There is ample parking with pavements to get to the park entrance too. ~~~ Opening Times ~~~ The park is open from around mid... Read review
