Advantages: Mildred's back!
Disadvantages: A long time coming

...When Jill Murphy first created the character of Mildred Hubble she hit on an instant success. What is there not to like about following the adventures of a clumsy, caring, funny, unfortunate young witch. Way back in 1975 her first book titled simply 'The Worst Witch' was published and became a great success. Not so long after followed 'The Worst Witch Strikes Again' and 'A Bad Spell for The Worst Witch'. I can safely say these 3 books were some of my very favourites when I was growing up and my copies are well thumbed. A few years ago my to my pleasure Jill Murphy wrote another Mildred book, this one called 'The Worst Witch All At Sea'. ...I LOVE the Worst Witch. I started reading about Mildred, Maud and all those at Miss Cackles Academy for yound witches when I was knee high to a grass hopper. I remember loving it so much that my friends and I, age 6, wrote a play of it, drew storyboards and planned to put on a production charging 2p a ticket. It never happened though as we couldn't quite work out how we were going to fly!! So back to the books it was! I am now 24 and must have read this book many many times. It is a real classic and a must for children. I am a reception teacher and was thrilled that my class took to it as much as I did. I now have to be Miss Hardbroom in the playground whilst they cast spells on me and fly aorund. The book starts by intorducing us to dippy Mildred and her friend Maud and follows them on their jouney through their first year at school... Read review

Advantages: A stepping stone to the world of reading for yourself...
Disadvantages: Some may worry that things aren't going to turn out OK...

...It is with great sadness that I have to report that this children’s book was written by some other Jill Murphy than our very own. I know, I know: hard to believe as it is I am sorry to say that this very successful “other” Jill Murphy has never written on Ciao. What she has done however, is written a delightful set of novels for kids (I’d say 4 to 7 year old level) starting with The Worst Witch which was published in 1975, before Harry Potter was even a twinkle in the eye. Advantages: 3 unique books contained in one book, very interesting characters, excellently written

...culture found on the Discworld and Granny Weatherwax is a brilliant character and throughout the other two stories she gets better and better. Rating: 10/10 Wyrd Sisters: This is the 6th Book in the Discworld Series and was released in 1988 Synopsis: Royalty and crowns especially, always bring out the worst in people and when a king is murdered in Lancre and an ambitious, cruel cousin takes the throne there is always going to be trouble. There is a rightful child heir missing and it is up to Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick to fins the child, get rid of the new king and restore order to the kingdom, but meddling in the politics of a kingdom can be tricky and the witches find this out the hard way. ...I still remember the first time I saw The Worst Witch around 10 years ago. I was around Christmas and I was ill in bed, and was looking for something to watch, and passing ITV they were just introducing "The Worst Witch". Sounds interesting I thought, so decided to watch. Perhaps as a 14 year old boy I should have found something more suitable, but I really enjoyed it, and was hooked. I think the fact that I fancied a few of the girls may have been a factor, they were all about my age, and still are (obviously). I didn't get to see much of the series when on ITV sadly, but it stuck with me, and I was pleased to see it again on Nickelodeon a few years later. ...I first read this book when I was about six and loved it then and can still see the appeal now. It was one of the first non picture books I read, that along with Roald Dahl (what a fantastic man he was!) . This is a very child friendly book. It has large print and occasional pictures but really moves up the ladder from picture books to offer a child a book which is a little more adult in appearance. However with it’s 106 pages it remains a very accessible book for a child with a fantastic story! The Worst Witch is the first book in a series. I’m not completely sure how many there eventually were but I know for sure there was “The worst witch strikes again” and “a bad spell for the worst witch” and I think one called “the worst witch at sea”. ...This was one of my favourite films as a child and still remains the same now I am in my 20s. You just can’t beat the originals! Many of you would have seen the television programme ‘The Worst Witch’, this film is based on just the first tale by Jane Murphy. The Cast: Dianna Rigg Miss Hardbroom This is the scary witch teacher. The pupils are scared of her and she does not take a liking to the main character Mildred Hubble! Tim Curry (He looks really young in this and plays a cheesy role!) Grand Wizard The Grand Wizard which all the women have a crush on. He only appears for anout half hour of the film. Charlotte Rae Miss Cackle/ Aggie Plays 2 characters. ...I have a number of guilty pleasures, but my biggest one must be "The Worst Witch". I enjoyed the books when I was younger, I loved the TV series later, and have never grown out of either. This resulted in me as a 23 year old being excited to hear that Jill Murphy was to publish a 6th book in her Worst Witch series, and to come back on it's release day the proud owner of a nice new hardback copy. This is the 6th book in the series, which started in 1975 and follows Mildred Hubble as she works her way through Cackles Academy, a boarding school for Witches. She is known as The Worst Witch due to her slightly clumsy nature, her fear of heights and the dark (not good for a witch) and the fact that she attracts trouble (even if she doesn't always cause it). ...The Worst Witch is all about a girl called Mildred Hubble who goes to a school called Miss Cackle's academy. Here she is taught various subjects by various subjects by many teachers. One called Miss Hardbroom who can magically appear anywhere! However everything Mildred does she seems to make a mess of things. She gets everything wrong and can't even fly a broom without crashing. To make things worse she has a deadly enemy, Ethel who also happens to be a teacher's pet especially of Miss Hardbrooms! This was taken from the TV series which was a huge success and resulted in many children enjoying the worst witch. Although this film started life as a book it is more commonly known as a TV series because this is where it became popular. Most children would have watched this and enjoyed it. ...Witch Anyone who has read any of my previous reviews will know that I do like cleansing wipes…essential for the lazy person's cleansing routine, or for those days when you just don't have time to do the whole cleanse and tone routine. In fact, I am getting to the stage whereby I could become quite an expert on these kind of products, since I feel as though I am working my way through them all. These were on special offer- £2 for 2 packs of 25 wipes, so really good value. Take into account that they contain witch hazel, which I use in various forms, and I know the wipes and myself will get along just fine. WHAT DO THEY PROMISE? Mainly the same old promises made by other similar products, but these make no promises to remove eye make up. I usually find that if they promise to remove even water proof mascara, they can...
