Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos

...This CD is Dream Theaters ninth studio cd and they seem to get better with every cd they make. One good thing being each dream theater cd has a new and different sound to the last and theres no exception here. In the Presence Of Enemies Part 1: This is part 1 of the epic that is In the Presence Of Enemies. Part 2 is the last song on the cd. This part of it is mostly instrumental and shows off how good dream theater are musically. Labrie doesn't come in till about 5 minutes into the song and then the song starts to pick up. This is a brilliant opener to the cd. Forsaken: This song is one of the softer, more catchy songs on the cd, much like I Walk Beside You from the previous cd in that it sounds radio friendly. Dream Theater's attempt at mainstream

Advantages: Mainstream whilst keeping their progressive sound
Disadvantages: Some duff tracks

...This is Dream Theater's 4th full length studio album, released in 1997. Dream Theater decided to go mainstream with this album, but this album is still very progressive and is a good one to go for if you're new to Dream Theater. The album kicks off with the psychadelic keyboard intro of New Millenium. This is a good song - Fairly upbeat, not very heavy. Takes a few listens to appreciate it more, but a nice start to the album. Don't get put off by the nest track, You Not Me. This is my least favourite Dream Theater track. It's mainstream grunge rock and is not what Dream Theater are like. Peruvian Skies is actually my favourite on the album. Review of Awake - Dream Theater

Dream Theater go even heavier

Advantages: More headbanging riffs, awesome shredding solos, great vocal work
Disadvantages: Some solos go on for a bit too long

...This is Dream Theater's 7th studio full length album, released in 2003. This is much heavier than all their other releases, and probably isn't the best place to start with Dream Theater unless you're into Metallica, Megadeth etc. and hate stuff like Rush and Yes. The album kicks off with the prog-metal anthem As I Am. I think the solo in this song is John Petrucci's best Dream Theater Solo ever. This is a real headbanger and is a Dream Theater song that you can listen to at any time They try to lead As I Am into the next song, This Dying Soul, but they don't do it very well, but just ignore that. This Dying Soul has a really good first section, which is a real mosher. This is actually my least favourite song on the album, mainly because the middle section goes on for too long. An introduction to Dream Theater

Advantages: Very heavy progressive rock with music that moves you
Disadvantages: Not all songs are up to dream theater standard

...I have been a fan of Dream theater for a very long time and over the years I have grown to love their music and respect the band more and more. But I wondered why none of my friends had heard of the band. Sure enough though they have heard of great guitarists such as Steve Vai, Satriani and John Petrucci on the legendary G3 tour. Little do they know though that he is the guitarist for dream theatre, and only makes up 1 fifth of a band of equally talented musicians. So with a band so good, why are they so little known? It could be because they don?t conform to mainstream. Although clichéd this may be the reason. So what would be a good album of theirs to introduce someone to the band? Advantages: Improvement on the last album
Disadvantages: A couple of weaker tracks

..."Theater of the Mind" is the seventh album by Ludacris. It has him work on an original concept, in which he chooses to set his piece as a theatre", and so this production is less of a music release and more of a performance, in which he gets co-stars, instead of featured guest artists. To fit in with this concept, amongst typical names of T-Pain, The Game and Lil' Wayne, the likes of Spike Lee, Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock also make such appearances with him. 1. "Intro" 2. Review of Theater Of The Mind - Ludacris

Poo-dacris!!

Advantages: Ludacris - a good emcee, some high profile guests
Disadvantages: Rubbish beats and no real exertion from anyone at all.

...Ludacris is a Southern rapper who hails from Atlanta and is probably one of the most prominent emcees (MCs) on the Southern scene and his style of hip-hop is sweeping the USA everymore and dominates plenty of the nightclubs out there. Theater of The Mind is Luda's sixth album and is to be compared to some very strong albums, namely 'Back For The Very First Time' 'Red Light District' and 'Word of Mouf', although his previous record, 'release Therapy' was somewhat lacklustre record, although it did very well commercially. For this album Luda had forsaken his usual upbeat, light-hearted style for a more commercial approach on most of the tracks. I have reviewed 'Release Therapy' earlier on ciao and was forced to give it a lowly 2 stars, (although it does feature a couple of good tracks.) So let's hope this next album takes him back to...

Review of Berliner Ensemble

2nd best album of all time.

Advantages: Pure genius.
Disadvantages: I didn't think of writing it.

...This is my favourite Dream Theater album, and would be in my top albums of all time section too. It's one of the few albums which I find I can easily listen to in it's entirety. As for whether it's the place to start with Dream Theater I don't know. You find with them that every album is completely different from the others. This is more 'Metal' and along the lines of Metallica, very heavy and riff based, whereas most are more Progressive and Rush style. That's not to say that this is short of the Keyboards and shredding we all know and love from DT... As I am - A great song, it's fairly slow, but very heavy and some masterful guitar work involved. Brilliant

Advantages: Emotion
Disadvantages: Lack of consistency in the tracks

...I own this album. So it seems with Dream Theater is that they change their style with each album they come out with, this album is very varied, the tracks don't really stay consistent throughout, although they all have that Dream Theater classic emotion behind them, enough to make even a robot cry. Especially 'Space - Dye Vest' which is surely the best track on the album. I wouldn't say this is the best album from DT, I prefer the Images & Words album. This album brings the listener a much more darker & heavier sound than what you'd expect from Images & Words, which would leave some shocked, especially 'Another Day.' The lyrics seem to be centred around loss, anger and dispair, also packed with emotion. Great value for money with this album, you won't be dissapointed with it, as always Dream Theater stay like Pink...
