The Marlowe Theatre

Advantages: Great range of shows, nice layout, good facilities
Disadvantages: None

...About The Marlowe Theatre The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury was redeveloped in 2005 and currently it is spread across three floors. Inside, there are two auditoriums, one of which has 1,200 seats and the other one has around 200 seats. Also inside is a bar on each of the three floors, a café and a hospitality suite. Where Is The Theatre Located The Marlowe Theatre is at the lower end of the City centre and is easily accessible whatever you choose at your mode of transport. There are plenty of car parks only a few minutes walk away and there is even a car park behind the theatre. The train and bus stations are also only a 5-7 minute walk away. What Can You Do At The Marlowe Theatre There is a large variety of performances held at the Marlowe Theatre and these include plays, concerts, festivals, musicals, dance shows and of course...

A THEATRE WITH A VIEW

Advantages: Open air Theatre does not come any better.
Disadvantages: Those hard seats, do not forget the cushions.

...OPEN AIR THEATRE AT ITS VERY BEST. The Minack Theatre is located next to Porthcurno Bay which is just off the B3315 between Lands End and Penzance. For persons like me who do not drive, there are Scheduled Bus Services from Penzance. the 300 and the 1A which both stop in Porthcurno Valley, the theatre is a further 400 meter walk up a steep hill. For full details of the Events at the Minack and further pictures visit its own web site WWW.MINACK.COM The Theatre was built, honed out of the rocks by a young woman ROWENA CADE with the only help being from the families gardener. It is now a 750 seat theatre, staging a wide range of events. Shakespear , what better setting for the Tempest than a cliff side setting. Opera, Drama, Musicals they are all there. We have visited the Minack for several Plays...

Peogeot 406 estate

Advantages: economical, reliable,
Disadvantages: shabby finish

...I have now owned my Peogeot 406 diesel estate (2.0 HDI) for 4 years. It has started first time every day throughout this time, is economical, especially on long runs, comfortable, quiet and a pleasure to drive. The electronic climate control keeps the interior environment pleasant regardless of what the weather is doing outside - it is a real cocoon. However, there have been many niggles. The windscreen wipters are computer-controlled and don't always do what I want them to, especially when turning them off!. The boy trim (little plastic crhome strips) fall off regularly, and the front passenge seat squeaks when not occupied, which is most of the time. I have had many small problems of this nature for about two years. They are annoying, but do not detract from the overall value of having a reliable car. The fact that this model is...

Theatre with a dramatic background!

Advantages: spectacular backdrop of the sea, very cheap
Disadvantages: performances only of an evening

...Previously when I have been to Cornwall and the weather has been good we have spent most of our time on the many beaches. This time however the weather was poor, with lots of wind and rain - not the sort of weather you want to be sitting on the beach in, unless you're a surfer of course and then I suppose it is ideal! This didn't really matter too much though because it gave us a chance to visit many of the famous sights and attractions. We visited lots of places including Saint Michaels Mount and the Eden Project, but probably the most charming thing that we visited was the Minack Theatre in Porthcurno. Unlike many of the other attractions it had a real Cornish feel to it and was really worth seeing. For those of you who have never heard of the Minack Theatre (and that's probably most of you) it's a really spectacular place...

National Theatre's: "War Horse"

Advantages: Good ticket prices and brilliant puppetry
Disadvantages: Was over complicated in parts

...A Reflection of the National Theatre Interpretation of "War Horse" compared to the book. This play was orignally shown in 2007 and has now returned back to the stage due to demand back at the National Theatre and is booking untill January. "War Horse" is the story of a boy's love for his horse in 1912 Somerset, who are wrenched apart by World War One. The crucial issue staging a play, based upon a novel established through the eyes of a horse 'Joey', was constructing equine creatures with authentic movements, sounds and size that could be easily moved and ridden, particularly during the intense scenes of conflict. This was inventively answered by the use of "life-sized puppets" divised by the Handspring puppet company, with wooden skeletons covered in translucent fabrics and a belly filled with puppeteers who simulated...

A night at the theatre.

Advantages: Great shows..
Disadvantages: Not much leg room. lotsa stairs to upper circle..STEEP

...My partner and I went to the theatre in Tyne and wear. The Empire Theatre, Sunderland. 01915148439 We went to see The Rocky Horror Show. I booked the tickets online, and with only a few days to go to the opening nigh,t we couldn't have the tickets delivered and so were given a number to take to the box office on the night. We did this without a hitch It was easy to sort. Sunderland Empire is a lovely building to look at from the road opposite, It Is quite old fashioned loking and is situated right on the corner of the street it is well signposted to find. Some history.. Sunderland Empire started to be built in 1906 and was completed in 1907 It was originally owned by three men, one of them was a local lad who started out as a busker! It became hard to fill and closed in 1959 reopening by a corporation in 1960 It is...

The Sheffield Crucible Theatre

Advantages: Good Atmosphere
Disadvantages: Not Particularly Attractive From The Outside

...There is little doubt that the Sheffield Crucible Theatre has become World famous due its hosting of the World Snooker Championships. There is however a lot more to this place than a temporary Snooker Venue and since it is my most local Theatre and one that I am very familiar with I thought that it may make an ideal subject for my latest review. The Crucible Theatre was designed by Tanya Moiseiwitsch and opened in 1971. It is one of three Theatres within Sheffield operated by Sheffield International Venues which form the Sheffield Theatres Complex. The other two Theatres within the group are the Lyceum Theatre, which is situated adjacent to the Crucible and the Studio. The Sheffield Theatres Complex is the largest Theatre Complex outside of London. The Crucible is the main producing Venue within the group but it also does receive...

The Most Perfect Experience of Theatre

Advantages: Nothing else like it as a tourist destination or theatrical experience
Disadvantages: If you watch a show you don't like, it might cloud your whole judgement

...Here's what you have to do: Get yourself onto the London Underground network and take the Central Line to St Paul's. When you arrive there are signposts to direct you down to the Thames and across to the Globe Theatre. When you get to the river, just stop for a moment by the Millenium Footbridge and enjoy the view. Straight ahead of you is the towering phoenix of Tate Modern. If you've got a couple of hours to kill before your play starts, go in - it's free. Doesn't matter if you like or dislike modern art, the place is awesome, and there's a great cafe at the top where you can look out over the cityscape. To the left of the Tate is The Globe. If you can't quite make it out, look for the ice cream van out front - it's always there. Make your way across the Millennium Bridge and try counting the number of shocks you get from...

The Sheffield Lyceum Theatre

Advantages: Beautiful Place
Disadvantages: Shows can sell out quickly

...The Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield is the oldest of the city?s three Theatre?s (the other two being The Crucible and The Studio which both opened in1971). The Lyceum opened in 1897 and was designed by the famous architect W G R Sprague, it is now his only surviving work outside of London. It is 1,068-seat traditional proscenium arch theatre. It is a large theatre and today it is the main receiving venue for touring productions in the city attracting a diverse programme of talent including Opera, Ballets and West End musicals. In fact recently Tennessee William?s Suddenly Last summer, directed by Michael Grandage toured out of the Lyceum in February 2004, prior to beginning a 10-week run on the West End. The repetition of the Lyceum has put it firmly on the Theatrical map but its fortunes have not always been so good. By the early...

406 2.0 hdi GLX manual V-reg

Advantages: fuel economy, refinement, handling
Disadvantages: expensive dealer servicing, average image

...I bought my 406 when it was 1 years old with 15000 miles. Since then it has done 45000 miles in two years. I have been very pleased with it except for the front disk brakes which I will come to later. It's most oustanding features are fuel economy and refinement. On my 40 mile commute covering A roads and fast dual carriageway, the 406 averages 54mpg. I think that is an excellent figure for a car of this size, (the lowest I ever got was 49mpg). I do not drive slowly and overtake whenever safe; indeed 4th gear overtaking performance is very good. Standing start acceleration is not as good as an equivalent petrol, but then that's the same for the majority of diesels. Refinement is also excellent. At 70mph the engine is doing 2250rpm, indeed at 100mph it's doing just 3100rpm. It just loves to cruise at very high speeds, 100mph...
