A wombling good time at Wimbledon School of Art.
Review of Wimbledon School of Art by  peel.rebekah

Advantages: International students and extremely good tutors
Disadvantages: Not in Central London

...Applying to Art School? Then I assume you have read most of the information on Central St. Martins, Goldsmiths, probably Glasgow, and maybe even Liverpool; but have you considered wombling off to Wimbledon? If not, then let me tell you of a few of the pros and cons of Wimbledon School of Art ( which is accredited by the University of London). There are two main buildings at Wimbledon; the Terry Bruen Building is just behind the theatre on Palmerston Road, and this is were you would have your interview and spend your first year, doing your foundation. It is the smaller of the two, but equally well equipped for all of your artistic needs. The foundation year will begin with a general practice couple of months; you will try your hand at sculpture, figure drawing, graphics, fashion, painting, ceramics, theatre design and 3-D design... Disadvantages: Not much leg room. lotsa stairs to upper circle..STEEP

...) and seems to have some nice buildings and places to visit. The theatre is lovely and well worth looking up if you are in the area. I researched this review and i tried to find the categorie for it and ciao came up with this one but i thnk it isnt in the right place it is more about stage school but ive still added it as ciao seem to think it is right.. here is some info on local stage schools in the sunderland area. FORTUNE THEATRE THE WOMAN IN BLACK VERY REALISTIC
Review of Fortune Theatre (London) by  emu128

Advantages: Realistic
Disadvantages: Not so good theatre

...Don't you just love all scary stories!? Whether there ghostly or monsterous, you usually love 'em' like I do, or you just quite plainly, simply hate 'em'! Each weekend, well not literally EVERY weekend, but some weekends, I sit down in front of the telly and if there isn't any decent comedies on, I'll simply watch a horror movie instead, ok, ok, so maybe sometimes I'll pull a pillow over my head and then other times I'll jump and maybe even scream but they are fun to watch aren't they!? This week has been, 'THANK GOD' the last week of school for myself and many others too, this means a it has been a supposedly FUN week for me!! (SUPPOSEDLY!!) One of my main attractions of the week happened on Tuesday, on Tuesday I went to London on an English/Drama school trip to a theatre called the 'Fortune Theatre' to watch 'The Woman In Black... Its school Jim, but not as we know it!
Review of Member advise on independent schools by  MHam

Advantages: Great education
Disadvantages: At a price

...ahead of their state school counterparts. They also have to run the school as a business, our existing school looks fantastic, great music rehearsal rooms, IT rooms, a theatre, a swimming pool and huge playing fields with tennis courts. Now your average primary school child does not need all of this but they do need really good teachers but in order to keep the costs down the school we are leaving has a habit of recruiting NQTs (newly qualified teachers) In fairness most of them are excellent, but I do think you need a good mix of experience as well. I must point out that this is not always the case as Cheltenham Ladies College advertises in our local paper and they always specify 'Good honours degree' and experience. The other area to look at when considering the ethos of the school is where you are planning to go next. The school... Read review

They say school days are the best of our lives!
Review of 10 Best School Memories by  MitchellandAimeesMum

Advantages: Reminiscing about school days
Disadvantages: Remembering what I was like as a school girl

...Hall - my old secondary school has not long celebrated its its centenary so you can imagine that the interior of the main building was very old. The school school in particular made from old oak panelling and the smell of the dinners was enough to put anyone off! The lockers - we had lockers outside our classrooms and there was one boy, in particular who was so small that one day some other kids got hold of him and put him inside a locker, he didn't see the funny side of it. Come to think of it, nor did anyone else! Home Economics area - We had a teacher called Mrs Bush who was always telling someone off for doing something. I have to say I did enjoy home ec. The Theatre - we had a theatre in one part of the school which was used for assembly and the odd play that was put on. I loved the drama area it was so up to date... Read review

Fantastic Summer School!
Review of Sutton Trust Summer Schools by  bluejules

Advantages: Fun, made lots of new friends, fantastic experience, learned a lot
Disadvantages: Took ages to get there by train!

...in physical geography. The lecture outlined the details of the field trip that we went on in the afternoon. The field trip took place in the Brecklands (borders of Norfolk and Suffolk) near Grimes Graves. We were outdoors all afternoon and the sun was blazing hot! We collected soil samples from areas along a transect in the field we were working in. This was really interesting, as it was an area of fieldwork that I have never done before. When we got back from the field trip we had about half an hour for dinner before getting ready to go to an outdoor theatre in St John's College Gardens. We watched 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', it was a very enjoyable performance. It was part of the Cambridge Shakespeare Festival. This was by far the most tiring day of the summer school, however it was also one of the most enjoyable! ~ Wednesday ~ We had... Read review

Bristol University Sutton Trust Summer School 07
Review of Sutton Trust Summer Schools by  itsfairy

Advantages: fun, new friends, experience of real university life
Disadvantages: the food in halls!

..., physiology & pharmacology, earth sciences and i'm sure i've forgotten a few! We got the chance to do so many things that you couldn't if just attending an open day such as making liquid nitrogen water falls, exploding hydrogen filled balloons (mini explosions!) stopping and restarting a rat's heart, generating nervous impulses in ourselves and using the human patient simulator which is amazingly life like it even blinks! All of the facilities were of a high standard, with huge laboratories, comfortable lecture theatres and some truly beautiful buildings. The evenings were spent doing fun activities with everyone at the summer school, we went bowling, had a karaoke night, quiz nght, disco and on the last night had a meal with everyone we'd met and had helped us on the summer school. Awards were given out in every subject and a LOT of photos... Read review

The Sheffield Crucible Theatre
Review of Crucible Theatre (Sheffield) by  micksheff

Advantages: Good Atmosphere
Disadvantages: Not Particularly Attractive From The Outside

...There is little doubt that the Sheffield Crucible Theatre has become World famous due its hosting of the World Snooker Championships. There is however a lot more to this place than a temporary Snooker Venue and since it is my most local Theatre and one that I am very familiar with I thought that it may make an ideal subject for my latest review. The Crucible Theatre was designed by Tanya Moiseiwitsch and opened in 1971. It is one of three Theatres within Sheffield operated by Sheffield International Venues which form the Sheffield Theatres Complex. The other two Theatres within the group are the Lyceum Theatre, which is situated adjacent to the Crucible and the Studio. The Sheffield Theatres Complex is the largest Theatre Complex outside of London. The Crucible is the main producing Venue within the group but it also does receive... Read review

The Journal Tyne Theatre
Review of Tyne Theatre and Opera House (Newcastle) by  treaclepins

Advantages: Beautiful building, historically significant.
Disadvantages: A bit shabby and doesn't attract the big shows.

...This is the forgotten theatre of Newcastle, seemingly doomed to play second fiddle to the Theatre Royal. The world's oldest working Victorian theatre on Newcastle's Westgate Rd. was originally built in 1867 by William B Parnell. The three story Journal Tyne Theatre is a beautiful Grade 1 listed building, and it is one of Newcastle's many cultural treasures. (This area of Newcastle has some incredible buildings - the old 'Wengers' building, the 'Lit & Phil' etc. so have a good look around while you are here). The theatre has faced adversity and a series of catastrophes over the years and yet, against all odds, it is not only still standing, but still playing to the (somewhat diminished) crowds. I used to work in this theatre in the 1980's, as an usherette whilst studying 'theatre' at Newcastle College. (The college lease part... Read review
