Disadvantages: Some *very* dodgy pubs

...We only visited Thetford once, and once turned out to be quite enough. That's not to say it's a terrible place or anything (although there was some football-related trouble last year where lots of Portuguese people were attacked for, well, for being Portuguese, because the football-loving knuckleheads in this country don't need a better reason to attack people they perceive as "different") but it really is quite dreary. Which is a shame really, because I still want to visit Thetford Forest itself, which sounds wonderful, but isn't really that close to Thetford itself. So... HOW TO GET THERE You can get there by train from Peterborough (and further west), Norwich, Cambridge and other nearby towns en route quite easily. My Hubby Brought Out The Baboon In Me.

Advantages: Thrilling highwire and zip line adventure & good prices.
Disadvantages: Heights can be an issue.

...INTRODUCTION I am a fan of certain sporting activities such as Diving, Kayaking and walking but as a treat me husband thought it would be good if we tried something different. He booked us a trip to the Go Ape adventure obstacle course at Thetford forest, I am not sure what he was thinking of as I am petrified of heights and this just does not appeal to me, but as it was all paid for I did not have the heart to disappoint him and say I was not going. Go Ape Like Tarzan & Jane !!

...Recently it was a friend's hen party and we were unsure of what to do, and how to celebrate it. A group of us got together and came up with suggestions. These were the usual night out in Blackpool, weekend in London, a four day drinking session in Benidorm, limousine for the night but we wanted to do something that would suit everyone. Go Ape Yourself

Advantages: Exciting group activity in a beautiful setting
Disadvantages: It's high up

...About two months ago I got an email inviting me to a hen do. This was a hen do I really had to go to based on who the hen was so imagine my dismay when it was announced that we were going to do a ropes course (Heights are evil. If one must be high up it should be in huge, over designed buildings or planes, not attached to ropes) followed by camping. I wondered when my friends had all become outdoorsy people and where the spa going hen do's were. So I offered to be the group's official photographer and bag carrier and a plan was formed. A friend advised me of an exciting day out in the heart of Thetford Forest, which will appeal to older children and adults alike, so we decided to give Go Ape! a try. Bell Hotel Review

Advantages: near all sorts of shops, staff is very good, clean and very quiet inside espically night time,
Disadvantages: may get noisey outside at night because town is where hotel is made

...Bell Hotel is very modern i stayed in the hotel for about a week whislt i took a took around thetford was pretty fun actually. My family seemed to enjoy it too. The hotel is haunted in centurys back ghost are wondering around the place aslo has a secret passage way somewhere in the hotel. The Hotel is placed in the middle of a town in Thetford next to all sorts of shops, Reastraunts, cafes, Takeaways, clothing shops, Locals ect ect.. I would recommend anyone coming to thetford to live for a short-Long term of time the bell hotel is very nice to stay in, staff is very nice and caring as were to my disabiled sister they treated her very nicely and average to all other customers....

Magical

Advantages: Wonderful atmosphere, everyone really enjoying themselves

...I recently saw the Levellers live in Thetford Forest, and would describe it as my best night out in years. I have seen the Levellers before, but I have to say that the outdoor gigs are always the best. There were two backup bands, Headspace (I think) and Bleeding Hearts. They were both acceptable levellers suport bands, with Bleeding Hearts being the better of the two. Things, though, didn't get really going until the Levellers came on. The audience took a while to warm up, but when they started playing "What A Beautiful Day" under a clear blue sky and setting sun, they erupted! Everyone was singing along and dancing, and it was a brilliant experience. They played a new song or two, a selection from the latest album, and of course all the old favourites. I don't think they could have got away without playing "One Way...

...If you have ever climbed trees and wanted to swing from them tarzan style then go ape is for you! The one I went to is set in Thetford Forest. It is easy to spot where to turn in from the road. It has a nice lot of flags right by the main gate. You have to pay £4.00 to get into the area which is a little annoying but what the hey! At High lodge go ape is the main "attraction" but there is also bikes to hire a maze and childrens play area. You can hire a BBQ if you fancy it but you are not allowed to bring your own for safety reasons. Anyway onto go ape; I booked a couple of weeks before the day after looking on their website (www.goape.co.uk) They advise to book before hand because it is so popular.
