...The THING. Let me start by saying that if Kurt Russell had not been in this movie it probably would have been a so-so film. However he lifts the whole film, in my opinion. The film is based on the novel by John W Campbell Jnr and is a remake of the original black and white movie made in 1951 called The Thing from Another World. An American research team are in the Antarctic when one day there world is turned upside down. Firstly with some crazed Norwegian in a helicopter trying to shoot dead a poor running dog and then later when things start happening around the base. The dog it seems is not a dog and soon some of the scientists are not human at all. It seems there is a malevolent alien parasitic organism that has been discovered and then released by the Norwegians and it can take the form of any living thing...

A Guy Thing

Advantages: Silly rom com with elements of hilarity
Disadvantages: Standard plot, storyline and characters which we've all seen before

...PLOT - Anyway, Paul (Jason Lee - My Name is Earl) is due to marry his sweetheart Karen (Selma Blair - Cruel Intentions). Pretty straightforward! Unfortunately at his batchelor party he gets a little worse for where and ends up in bed with Becky (Julia Stiles - Save the last Dance). As he does the manly thing and try to get away with it he is hit with the bombshell that not only does he have an std but Becky is Karen's cousin. Bugger i hear all you men say!! No escape surely but the comedy unravels as wedding preperations are made and Paul's lies just keep getting worse as he falls deeper into a hole he can hardly struggle out of. PERFORMANCES - At the time Jason Lee's stock was rising after appearing in such films as Vanilla Sky, Almost Famous, Heartbreakers and multiple Kevin Smith films. Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec

Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked

...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs. I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for. I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in. The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair. The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

Ford Focus 1.6 - Shocking!!

...Two years ago I decided to buy a brand new car, and after much research I decided upon the Ford Focus 1.6 (old style now). Everything I had read pointed towards a really good choice. So I went into my local Ford dealer and a week later I had my nice new car. First thoughts were a good looking car, well built, fantastically smooth to drive, held the roads amazingly well. All of the equipment worked wonderfully well and I absolutley loved my new car. Then the problems began.... After two weeks the Airbag Modulator failed, so I went back to the dealer, and they replaced the faulty part within a few days. They wouldn't let me have a courtesy cat so was left hanging around the dealers for a few hours. All work was under warranty so no cost to me. Three weeks after the Modulator fault I was washing the car and noticed tiny rust spots...

All Good Things Come In Small Packages!

...I needed an mp3 player in order for me to learn backing tracks whilst 'on the go', and having done the usual research on various websites I decided to go for this 1gb ipod shuffle. There are many reasons why this was the one for me. Firstly, the price, it was £32, which when you compare to many other brands and specifications, is an absolute bargain! Secondly, the size, it fits in the palm of your hand, with your hand closed, it's extremely light, so it's not cumbersome and awkward to carry or handle. It has a very strong clip, so I often clip it to the inside of my pocket while I'm working and it stays put. Focus 1.6 - A fun stylish serious car.

Advantages: Comfortable, spacious for passengers, driver and lugage. Nippy and stylish.
Disadvantages: Its not the ST170 and its not the RS.

...My 1.6 is one of the late early 2001 models and it is a pleasure to drive it was second hand and had two previous owners, I'm not sure how they treated it but when I picked it up it was in pristine condition which to me says that it is a fairly hardwearing car. Its smooth lines and contours make for a slightly sporty look as well as the memories of the Rally focus in all its glory tearing up the WRC. It is a very smooth ride with fantastic handling so if you are a little heavy on the peddle it has the strength to compensate. Acceleration is good and you through the range of the 5 speed gear box, and at the other end of the scale the brakes are hot too mine only has discs on the front and Drums on the back but there is plenty there to slow down the 125 horses that kick out of the engine.
