Reviews of think pad t23
IBM ThinkPad T23 2647 review
Review of ThinkPad T23 2647 - PIII-M 1.13 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
dcs3226
Advantages: Reliable and solid workhorse that won't let you down
Disadvantages: No wirless, needs more USB ports
...Not the newest system on the market, but if you can get a decently priced second hand version it is well worth it. I have worked on this for a couple of years now both in an office environment and on the road and it has never let me down. Enough grunt so you do not feel as though you should have gone for the desktop option rather than a laptop. Yet, portable enough to be carried every where and not have to worry about the occasional knock.
The screen is great and can even be viewed from the side. It is also large enough so, if you need to present directly from the screen, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
I personally am not keen on the "nipple" style mouse pointer but then I don't like touchpads either, so I would always recommend carrying a proper mouse.
The lack of enough USB ports, though a disadvantage, can obviously...

IBM T23 2647 Thinkpad.
Review of ThinkPad T23 2647 - PIII-M 1.13 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
Ronnie-Taylor
Advantages: Enterchangeable CD drive, to Extra HDD, Handy IR Port.. Useful for data transfer.
Disadvantages: Both System Board & Disk Drive Failures.
...A very capable laptop, which gets used every day. With lots of handy features. Such as the removable CD, Floppy Drive. Great if you purchase the Cradle for an extra HDD. Which makes Backups simple! The extra large LCD display, makes your Home PC almost extinct. Also the battery is easily removable. It has a double USB port on the back along with the Com Ports and Mouse Port. Which I don’t really use because of the touch control in the centre on the keyboard.
Also having the IR port on the left is hand for mobile phone data transfer. The laptop arrived in a smart carrying case. With lots of extra cables for Token Ring Connection and other bits & bobs, including the instruction manual.
On the negative, the hard disk died after about 14 Months use, then a week after the system board failed. But on the whole, I would purchase again...

Review of Member Advice on Ciao Addiction by
wreckferret
Advantages: n/a
Disadvantages: n/a
...As brevity is the soul of wit and because I'm just off to beddie-byes before a night shift, I thought I'd tender this highly over-engineered (and probably the most miniaturised) entry for the judges' perusal. I like all cultural things Japanese, especially Haiku, so it would be remiss of me to do otherwise...

This is a budget pad which is worth every penny.
Review of Trust Sight Fighter Digital Plus - game pad by
sp00n
Advantages: Well built and cheap, Buttons feel "right" and it has 12 buttons and a throttle.
Disadvantages: no analogue stick and the software sucks.
...Right, first things first. This pad is cheap for what you get. It set me back 16 British pounds and I personally think that it was worth every penny. Those 16 pounds buy you, 12 fully functional buttons (unlike some pads which have buttons that show up in the control panel but not in games), a throttle wheel, a d-pad and also both USB and gameport connectors.
Installation was a breeze on all three pcs I tested it on. Windows ME, 98 and 2000 all find the new USB device and all you need do is point it towards the driver CD provided with the pad and install the optional software (allowing you to program the buttons to a number of keyboard presses) and away you go!
Now then, once you have the hardware in place all that remains is the software, and unfortunately I think that the software lets this pad down. The software allows you to program...

Good or Bad?
Review of Nintendo Official Gamecube Control Pad Purple by
fna2007
Advantages: Design
Disadvantages: Hard to press buttons a bit
...The Gamecube Control Pad
At the time i bought a Gamecube i bought a ps2 to so i had to adapt to both controllers as i used to switch consoles at times for different games.
The Gamecubes Control pads are much different to the Playstations,Gamecube control pads have much bigger buttons to press. So to say the least its harder to tap the buttons on the gamecubes controller.
The buttons on the pads are the A button,The B Button,X Button and X Button. You also have a C stick on the pad along with a analogue stick on your left and with three buttons at the back with are L and R Buttons along with a Z button.Sounds all confusing maybe your thinking too many buttons to press on thats jus exactly what i thought!
I noticed my thumb hurting using the analogue on this control pad for various games which is a big down, thats why i tend to stick...

Review of Boots Washable Breast Pads by
wolfblud
Advantages: Discreet and pretty to look at
Disadvantages: Not very absorbent
...I bought Boots washable breast pads thinking I would save some money and the enviroment. I was wrong 2 days later I had to buy other disposable pads!!!
I put the pad on when I'd finished the first feed of the day and less than an hour later my milk had seeped through and was very obvious on my denim shirt. I changed my pads and again 1 hour later the same!! Luckily I had some of my other disposable pads left.
Maybe I was producing an excess of milk but my baby was feeding every 2 hours so it was draining away very quickly.
In all A great idea but a little more protection would be good. I'm glad that there were 6 in a pack. That lasted me all of 7 hours!!!...

Calling all Wind instrument players.
Review of Yamaha Powder Paper by
paulhanton
Advantages: Cheap maintenance for your pads.
Disadvantages: None.
...and coat. So One booklet will last a good few months.
I cannot stress enough what an essential piece of kit these are. A cheap and quick alterntaive if you run out are cigarette papers sprinkled with talc (non perfumed). Do not use this often though as it may degrade the pads.
The pads themselves are conveniently 'tear off' from inside a cardboard booklet, and as they are made of paper, the whole deal is okay for the environment.
Why bother?
When one plays an instrument, I think it is important to love it and take care of it, and jobs like cleaning the pads, oiling the springs etc. are tedious, but ultimately worth it. The instrument lasts a longer time, is more reliable and retains value should you ever sell it on.
These pads can be used for any instrument that has closing valve pads; saxophone, clarinet, flute, etc.
PS: the picture shown...

Solid Build, Superb Performance
Review of ThinkPad T23 2647 - PIII-M 866 MHz - 13.3" TFT by
r0sco1
Advantages: Solid Build Quality, IBM Warranty
Disadvantages: Price, Lack of additional software
...I have had my IBM T23 for just over 2 years now.
Since I have owned the system I have only ever had one fault with it, this was partly my fault.
To start with the Design is the typical IBM Black, however the T series much like the X series is finished with a layer of Titanium to give it extra strength. It comes with 2 USB ports, Ethernet, Modem 1 PS/2 Port, S-Video for linking up to projector or TV, 1 Serial, 1 Parallel and 2 PC Card Slots. Opwn the laptop up and you have the usual IBM scroll point, extra volume buttons and an extra Thinkpad button which when you click gives you the option to update the drivers on the PC providing you are connected to the Internet. The only drawbackin the layout is the lack of a windows key (which is usually located next to the ALT & CTRL keys).
IBM Preload the operating system wich means you wont...

SteelPad QcK
Review of Soft Trading Steelpad QcK - mouse pad by
byprozac
Advantages: Efficient cost, fits well with surroundings, grippable backing, very portable
Disadvantages: Hard to clean
...The steelpad qck is without a doubt the finest mouse pad I've ever used. More and more it began to feel like a comfy, smooth and responsive area of my desk. I think there's absolutely no reason why any gamer should be stuck with poor mouse control. It is a cloth pad that can be folded or crumpled and tossed inside of a bag quickly. The tracking precision is perfect for playing any kind of games or just office use. You will move your pointer more faster and more accurately than before, saving time and it will protect your mouse feet from deterioration cause it's a cloth pad. I truly appreciate the quiet and smooth action the mouse takes across the cloth surface. Can be used by both low and high mouse sensitive users....

The IBM difference, Great value for ebayers.
Review of ThinkPad T23 2648 - PIII-M 1.13 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
David_Scutt
Advantages: A trustworthy Notebook from the creators of the PC
Disadvantages: Now a little out of date
...There are many notebooks avaliable today, from your £300 own brand notebooks to the £1000 top of the range notebooks.
IBM provides notebooks for all price ranges.
The T series is the ultimate in Travel Notebooks, they combine performance and reliability with travel. These are there Top Models.
All T series' have an outstanding battery life, my T23 started with 4 REAL hours of usability.
Most manufacturers claim 3-4 hours but when IBM says 4 Hours, they actually mean it, bearing in mind that my battery is 2 years old.
The Notebook comes with some really good IBM plus points, like the nipple, and the keyboard light.
Yes this notebook has a nipple, this may sound strange, but it is the best alternative to the mouse, it is more accurate and much easier to use than a glide pad. Its amazing how that small little red dot can actually...
