ThinkCentre... Think Smarter
Review of ThinkCentre S50 8183 - P4 2.8 GHz by

Advantages: Slimline, Well Featured, Looks Good
Disadvantages: No Firewire, Not thought out properly
...ThinkCentre... Think Smarter
IBM’s range of workstations have always been backed up with a long history, after all shouldn’t IBM be the experts, they did “invent” the PC after all! IBM’s ThinkCentre range represents IBM’s mid-range business workstations, enough power and multimedia capabilities to run the top end office and productivity, whilst keeping costs down to make the systems as affordable as possible. A hidden but equally important part of the ThinkCentres resides inside the computer and installed on the hard drives, these discrete design decisions and software packages that are shipped with the machines. I have recently installed 86 IBM ThinkCentre S50’s at work; this review is my attempt to distil my experiences into words.

Doro 8085 - small but perfectly formed
Review of DORO 8085 by
sukottorandojin
Advantages: compact size of phone and base unit
Disadvantages: lack of more advanced features
...The doro 8085 has served me well for a number of years, with no reportable errors as of yet.
The key selling point for me was the compact dimensions of the unit, however, the fact that the phone is of swedish manufacture also convinced me that it would be of good quality.
The keypad layout, while taking some getting used to, is straightforward enough, and allows for fast and easy operation - provided your fingers are of suitable dimensions - the small size of the buttons may prove difficult for those with larger hands.
Perhaps the best aspect of the phone is its excellent sound quality, despite the ultra-compact size of the phone - also notable is the fairly small base unit, which doesnt eat up much desk space, and looks fairly attractive.
Day to day operation of the phone is satisfactory, with a decent, yet not overly enduring...

Extremely Over Priced PC
Review of Lenovo ThinkCentre A55 9265 - Pentium D 915 2.8 GHz by
saraharcher
Advantages: The case dosn't look too bad
Disadvantages: Addequate but outdated CPU
...significantly lower than Lenovo is 3Ghz upwards. Quite how the ThinkCentre A55 hopes to even try to compete with other manufacturers offering 3-4Ghz CPU's with a price tag of around £50 less is somewhat of a mystery. Having said that, as my mate has proven with flying colours.."there is one born every minute"
The memory installed is on a par with most budget PC's and is supplied with 512Mb DDR II SDRAM. Thankfully memory these days is a relatively cheap upgrade option.
The hard drive installed again is somewhat below acceptable for the price tag. The A55 is supplied with an 80Gb hard drive. Although this size of drive is acceptable, for £400 you would expect something around 100 -120Gb in size.
The graphics card is on-board as is the norm with all budget PC's. The graphics memory is shared with the PC's RAM and is adjustable via the PC...

THINK REALLY
Review of Lenovo ThinkCentre A55 9265 - Pentium D 915 2.8 GHz by
packerlist
Advantages: very good processor with unique vast features.
Disadvantages: the flat screen looks too fragile.
...Well I have to come with the review of PC computer. Lenevo think center is a brand of computer that never made waves in the computer market. But I decided to give it a try by buying it and wanted to get rid of the popular dell, IBM and apple computers for some time.
Well the lenovo think center computer has proved to be a bit different. Some features actually made me to purchase the product and are features like the administrator password, power on password, booting without mouse and key board, hard drive I/O control, usb control, serial port I/O control, boss Sequence control and diskette I/O control. These are the features that really made me to splash at about £250.60 on it.
The lenovo thinkcentre A55 9265 Pentium D 915 2.8 GHz computer has host of unique think vantage technologies at competitive price.
The processor...

I could stroke it all day long UPDATED 23-02-01
Review of Nokia 3310 by
mattmorrison
Advantages: gorgeous, great features
Disadvantages: nothing
...you. You can store 7 extra ringtones, and the phone can only hold one operator logo at any moment.
Deals
If you wish to get the Nokia 3310 on a Pay as you Go deal, then you are looking at paying £100 in the shops. On the Internet, you can get it for £80-£85 depending on the network, but stocks tend to be low. Check out www.mobileshop.com to see what they have available. If you wish to get the phone on contract, like I have done, then I would suggest you pop down to The Link before the end of January 2001. If so, not only do you get the phone for free, but you also get £100 back. £50 of this comes from BT Cellnet after 6 months, then a further £50 from The Link after a further 6 months. This means already you are £200 up on if you had bought the phone on a Pay as you Go deal. There is a range of call tariffs...

D'you wanna go faster
Review of Motorway Speed Limits by
lyricalt
Advantages: You might shave ten minutes off your journey time, if you're lucky.
Disadvantages: You might kill yourself or someone else. Personally I'd rather get my fifteen minutes of fame from other sources.
...Have you often wondered why, on a three-lane straight road, the speed limit is only 70mph? How is it possible to have an accident on a straight road? Doesn't a 70mph restriction seem ridiculous when the average family car is capable of travelling at almost double that speed?
The majority of motorway accidents are not caused by the actual speed. They're caused by mechanical or human error. Drivers who 'tailgate' other motorists are the primary cause of multi-car pile-ups. The recommended safe distance between two cars travelling at ANY speed, is two seconds. As the speed increases, so does the distance between the two cars... if that particular rule is being followed.
All too often, it isn't.
I've always believed that the speed limit on motorways should be 80-85mph, if only the average driver could exercise a little self...

Mask Your Blemishes
Review of Avon Deep Cleansing Warming Mask by
Luigi
Advantages: Cleans nice a deeply
Disadvantages: Warming may cause discomfort
...then went into the bathroom and had another shave. With that done, I did as instructed and gently wet my face, and applied product to my skin. Wow! This was warming my face in next to no time! It had a gritty feel to it when you put it on, and the warming was an odd sensation. After the prescribed 60 seconds, I rinsed off the mask and patted dry.
** Results **
My skin felt extremely soft afterwards, just as if someone had used an emery board and rubbed it down. My pores were cleaned very thoroughly and the whole thing had taken very little time.
There were no instructions on how frequently you should use the mask, but Bernie advises me that it should be done about once every 5 – 10 days, depending on how clogged my pores become. As the weather is taking a turn for the better at the moment (80-85oF most days), this might be nearer to every...

Snooper SD815is
Review of Snooper SD815is by
Niknak
Advantages: 5 Band detection, range of use
Disadvantages: A bit too sensitive at times - keeps bleeping
...in a yellow jacket stood on a bridge a mile up the road.
If you do a lot of travelling I'd highly recommend the Snooper as we all know, it's easy to cruise along at 80-85 and keep up with traffic but it's still over the limit and gatsos don't have any discretion, nor do some coppers seeing as I got done at 83mph at midnight on a clear stretch of motorway but as I said, that's a different story!
Noticed a comment that questioned the legality of radar detectors. I've done a bit of investigating and as far as I can tell, they are still legal following a judicial decision in 1998. There is however some question over the legality of radar jammers, somthing entirely different, which have not yet been subject to a test case....
