IBM T23 2647 Thinkpad.
Review of ThinkPad T23 2647 - PIII-M 1.13 GHz - 14.1" TFT by  Ronnie-Taylor

Advantages: Enterchangeable CD drive, to Extra HDD, Handy IR Port.. Useful for data transfer.
Disadvantages: Both System Board & Disk Drive Failures.

...A very capable laptop, which gets used every day. With lots of handy features. Such as the removable CD, Floppy Drive. Great if you purchase the Cradle for an extra HDD. Which makes Backups simple! The extra large LCD display, makes your Home PC almost extinct. Also the battery is easily removable. It has a double USB port on the back along with the Com Ports and Mouse Port. Which I don’t really use because of the touch control in the centre on the keyboard. Also having the IR port on the left is hand for mobile phone data transfer. The laptop arrived in a smart carrying case. With lots of extra cables for Token Ring Connection and other bits & bobs, including the instruction manual. On the negative, the hard disk died after about 14 Months use, then a week after the system board failed. But on the whole, I would purchase again... Read review

IBM ThinkPad T23 2647 review
Review of ThinkPad T23 2647 - PIII-M 1.13 GHz - 14.1" TFT by  dcs3226

Advantages: Reliable and solid workhorse that won't let you down
Disadvantages: No wirless, needs more USB ports

...Not the newest system on the market, but if you can get a decently priced second hand version it is well worth it. I have worked on this for a couple of years now both in an office environment and on the road and it has never let me down. Enough grunt so you do not feel as though you should have gone for the desktop option rather than a laptop. Yet, portable enough to be carried every where and not have to worry about the occasional knock. The screen is great and can even be viewed from the side. It is also large enough so, if you need to present directly from the screen, it shouldn't be too much of a problem. I personally am not keen on the "nipple" style mouse pointer but then I don't like touchpads either, so I would always recommend carrying a proper mouse. The lack of enough USB ports, though a disadvantage, can... Read review

The IBM difference, Great value for ebayers.
Review of ThinkPad T23 2648 - PIII-M 1.13 GHz - 14.1" TFT by  David_Scutt

Advantages: A trustworthy Notebook from the creators of the PC
Disadvantages: Now a little out of date

...There are many notebooks avaliable today, from your £300 own brand notebooks to the £1000 top of the range notebooks. IBM provides notebooks for all price ranges. The T series is the ultimate in Travel Notebooks, they combine performance and reliability with travel. These are there Top Models. All T series' have an outstanding battery life, my T23 started with 4 REAL hours of usability. Most manufacturers claim 3-4 hours but when IBM says 4 Hours, they actually mean it, bearing in mind that my battery is 2 years old. The Notebook comes with some really good IBM plus points, like the nipple, and the keyboard light. Yes this notebook has a nipple, this may sound strange, but it is the best alternative to the mouse, it is more accurate and much easier to use than a glide pad. Its amazing how that small little red dot can... Read review

Solid Build, Superb Performance
Review of ThinkPad T23 2647 - PIII-M 866 MHz - 13.3" TFT by  r0sco1

Advantages: Solid Build Quality, IBM Warranty
Disadvantages: Price, Lack of additional software

...I have had my IBM T23 for just over 2 years now. Since I have owned the system I have only ever had one fault with it, this was partly my fault. To start with the Design is the typical IBM Black, however the T series much like the X series is finished with a layer of Titanium to give it extra strength. It comes with 2 USB ports, Ethernet, Modem 1 PS/2 Port, S-Video for linking up to projector or TV, 1 Serial, 1 Parallel and 2 PC Card Slots. Opwn the laptop up and you have the usual IBM scroll point, extra volume buttons and an extra Thinkpad button which when you click gives you the option to update the drivers on the PC providing you are connected to the Internet. The only drawbackin the layout is the lack of a windows key (which is usually located next to the ALT & CTRL keys). IBM Preload the operating system wich means you... Read review

IBM Thinkpad X30 Pentium 3 1.2 ghz USED.
Review of ThinkPad X30 2672 - PIII-M 1.2 GHz - 12.1" TFT by  safariman72

Advantages: Small, light and well spec'd
Disadvantages: Replacement parts prices.

..., Built in modem and network card, 1 x infra-red port to name a few. Yes it could probably do with more USB ports, even using the docking station doesn't give you any extra. It comes with a USB dvd-rom\cd re-writer. A USB 3.5 floppy disk drive can be bought for about £10. COMPLAINTS AND CONCERNS My only complaint is when it has been on for a while the underside gets quite hot and for all it doesn't effect the performance of the unit, it can get quite uncomfortable at times. My concern is a design one, if you have it on your knee, bed or anywhere that isn't a flat surface, then the air entry hole for the cooling fan on the processor can be blocked which isn't good. RECOMMEND OR NOT That would depend, it is a great little laptop. It would be suitable to the experienced user and for a beginner for its ease of use and ease... Read review

Think Smart, ThinkPad
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad R60e 0657 - Core Duo T2300E 1.66 GHz - 15" TFT by  Pyrokeet

Advantages: many unique features, robust, trustworthy
Disadvantages: more expensive than some brands

...is the hard drive password, which it asks for as soon as it starts the hard drive. This has similar properties to those just stated, but I'm told that they even work if you take the hard drive out and place it in another computer, so your data should be safe from your garden-variety thieves (It may not stand up to proper thieves). INPUTS/OUTPUTS This model has three USBs slots, a monitor out, a line out, and a mic in. It also has bluetooth and wireless radio. It does not have S-VIDEO, or infra-red. OS This ThinkPad comes loaded with Windows XP SP2 Professional, and says it is 'Vista Ready', but I think it isn't, unless you upgrade it. HARDWARE The Intel Centrino Duo 1.66 GHz processor is perfectly suitable to everyday work and leisure based tasks, but may not be up to any hardcore gaming, but I'm sure any hardcore gamers will know... The T42: Time to use your Thinkpad!
Review of ThinkPad T42 2373 - Pentium M 735 1.7 GHz - 14.1" TFT by  lea20

Advantages: High spec for low refurb price, Windows XP Pro, great build
Disadvantages: Small hard drive, only 2 USB ports

...I wanted a laptop to run alongside my higher spec PC, to make full use of my new mobile broadband package and to carry all my backing tracks and karaoke software when I go gigging. I decided I needed one that was of not only of reasonable spec but also a high quality build as I was planning to carry it around a lot. I came across this bargain refurbished model for only £300. The RAM had been upgraded to 1GB and the processor now clocks at 1.8ghz. It also came with Windows XP Pro instead of Home and still had a years warranty left. After reading reviews on the net I realised that I had indeed came across a bargain, as it was rated highly by many and also cost as much as £1500 new just three years ago! Upon setting up the laptop I noticed how sturdy it felt on the outside. The hinge still felt stiff and it felt well built. I... Read review

Thinking of a Thinkpad?
Review of ThinkPad T40p 2373 - Pentium M 1.6 GHz - 14.1" TFT by  nattinoo1970

Advantages: Light, flat and compact
Disadvantages: Being Black

...I had wanted a laptop for years but never had the courage to actually take the final step of buying one. Even after looking at countless different brands and models I still chose a desktop PC! At a new job I was given a Thinkpad T43. I found it incredibly easy to use, and as I was splitting my time between the office and home was having to carry it around with me. After months of using the laptop my desktop PC at home died and I decided to try and replace it with a Thinkpad. Because I was on a restricted budget and couldn't afford a new laptop I decided to see what was available second-hand. I was overjoyed to find a company on ebay that sells refurbished Thinkpads and bought mine a good couple of months ago. So I now have 2 laptops to use - 1 for work and 1 for personal use. The Thinkpads are light for a laptop, very flat... Read review

IBM ThinkPad X41
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad X41 2525 - Pentium M 778 1.6 GHz - 12.1" TFT - with X4 UltraBase by  tartupets

Advantages: Extreme performace and user experience
Disadvantages: 128 mb graphics memory low performance

...IBM Thinkpad x41 with the Ultrabase is the best and most powerful laptop of its kind. 1.3 kg and with the 8 cell battery up to 6 hours operating time, it is mostly suited for travelers and collage students Instead of the standard 512 mb of RAM, ive got the 1.5 GB installed, so it is faster and has better performance. It has the touchpoint interface, which is the second best after the mouse because it is more precise than the touchPad. The ThinkLight HDD protection is useful when you are traveling by bus or train because it suits itself to repeated bumps and allows the HDD run even with heavy vibration. As suited to IBMs, there is a little light in the edge of the monitor, which is very good in the dark. Especially I like the location of the processor cooling vent, which is on the side and keeps the processor cool even... Read review

Lenovo 3000 N100 - Core Duo T2400 1.83 GHz
Review of Lenovo 3000 N100 0768 - Core Duo T2400 1.83 GHz - 15.4" TFT by  clivefallon

Advantages: High Spec, Powerful, Comfortable to use, System management
Disadvantages: Small touch pad, poor mouse buttons, poor sound from speakers

...try to watch a good movie unless you're using headphones or plugged into an external speaker system. Connectivity - The Laptop I am using has a built in 56k modem, wifi enabled, bluetooth, ethernet connection and firewire. There is a button to disable the wireless connections (wifi and Bluetooth). The CD tray is actually a double layer DVD burner, maybe a little overkill for a laptop in my opinion, but handy to have I suppose. Now, from what I gather, this laptop has a 1.8Ghz Intel Core Duo processor, 512Mb ram, A GE Force graphics card and an 80 Gb hard drive. I have to say I have played a couple of games including FIFA07, Deer Hunter and Settlers 2 and they've ran well, very well. I don't sopend a lit of time playing games though so can't give a good review of the graphics card. I'm currently working on some web stuff... Read review
