IBM ThinkPad X41
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad X41 2525 - Pentium M 778 1.6 GHz - 12.1" TFT - with X4 UltraBase by
tartupets
Advantages: Extreme performace and user experience
Disadvantages: 128 mb graphics memory low performance
...IBM Thinkpad x41 with the Ultrabase is the best and most powerful laptop of its kind. 1.3 kg and with the 8 cell battery up to 6 hours operating time, it is mostly suited for travelers and collage students
Instead of the standard 512 mb of RAM, ive got the 1.5 GB installed, so it is faster and has better performance.
It has the touchpoint interface, which is the second best after the mouse because it is more precise than the touchPad.
The ThinkLight HDD protection is useful when you are traveling by bus or train because it suits itself to repeated bumps and allows the HDD run even with heavy vibration.
As suited to IBMs, there is a little light in the edge of the monitor, which is very good in the dark.
Especially I like the location of the processor cooling vent, which is on the side and keeps the processor cool even...

IBM Thinkpad X30 Pentium 3 1.2 ghz USED.
Review of ThinkPad X30 2672 - PIII-M 1.2 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
safariman72
Advantages: Small, light and well spec'd
Disadvantages: Replacement parts prices.
...I originally bought my Thinkpad as a starter for my partner as she reckoned they are easier to use. My reason was that it was small enough to put out of the way if she never used it.
I bought it off E-Bay and apart from a small amount of worry with the screen getting damaged in transit paid £200 plus postage.
It arrived well packaged and undamaged and to my surprise looking very good for an older model laptop.
HARD DRIVE
It came pre-installed with Windows XP Pro as it would have when new, and booted up quickly and very quietly. The 40gb hard disk is quite ample as it gives you plenty of space to install whatever anti-virus you require and enough space for applications for the average user. At the moment on this one I have a few of my favourite cds, some games, office 2007 and Photoshop 8, yet still have 20gb hard disk...

The Lenovo X60 6364 The Good and the Bad
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet 6364 - Core 2 Duo L7400 1.5 GHz - 12.1" TFT by
CoDuK
Advantages: Durable, Powerful, Good Tablet, Amazing battery life, Never overheats, quiet, expansion capabilities, small lightweight,
Disadvantages: old looking, bad graphics card, no CD/DVD drive, bad speaker position
...Personally, I have had a great experience with this laptop. I will start with the bad, which is only a few things, and then end with the good, which is LOADS of things.
First of all, the looks, like all IBM ThinkPad's, it looks hideous, or that is what I think. It is black, and has this weird, dull material on the back, which makes it look very old, like a spectrum from 10 years ago. It has this HUGE battery at the back, which makes it look horrible, if you remove the battery looks much better. When you look at it, it does seem as if it is from the 90s, and I personally think that is partly down to the IBM logo, which looks old, and reminds you of the time where computers were merely command lines, and the only thing that came out of the speakers, were beeps.
Also, the graphics card, is crap, that is really all I can say...

The IBM ThinkPad 240 - A sub-£200 gem?
Review of ThinkPad 240 C 300 MHz - 10.4" TFT by
mattyprice4004
Advantages: Small size, Lights, Looks smart!
Disadvantages: Some say it looks bland, Small size limits functionality
...Watching the ICT market depresses me. Only a couple of short years ago I invested in the biggest desktop hard disk drive I could ever find - A roomy 120GB Seagate. Now we are up to 750GB, yet these cost only half of what I paid for my drive.
The same is the story with the ThinkPad 240 - I remember when these were £1,699 brand new. Luckily I never bought one new, but I did receive one second hand a few months ago.
This is probably my first review where I have a few serious issues with a product, as the 240 did leave a lot to be desired.
But let's start with what's good. The first thing that will attract a lot of potential buyers to this laptop is it's diminutive size. It truly is amazing how IBM have managed to squeeze a full laptop into such a small case. The screen has a resolution of 800x600 pixels, which is enough for office...

The T42: Time to use your Thinkpad!
Review of ThinkPad T42 2373 - Pentium M 735 1.7 GHz - 14.1" TFT by
lea20
Advantages: High spec for low refurb price, Windows XP Pro, great build
Disadvantages: Small hard drive, only 2 USB ports
...any other). It's highest resolution is 1024 x 768.
I think this is a great laptop. I would recommend looking for a second hand one of these rather than falling for the cheap supermarket high spec laptop thing. High spec yes. High build no. Where are all the parts when you need them? IBM is a well supported brand and the T42 Thinkpad is a popular model. I can see why....

Think Smart, ThinkPad
Review of Lenovo ThinkPad R60e 0657 - Core Duo T2300E 1.66 GHz - 15" TFT by
Pyrokeet
Advantages: many unique features, robust, trustworthy
Disadvantages: more expensive than some brands
...I bought this laptop on insurance, as my previous ThinkPad was stolen and I loved it so much that I couldn't bear to buy a different brand.
In my opinion, the Lenovo ThinkPad is the best laptop you could possibly buy for all-round performance, reliability, and features, but I will endeavour to make this review as unbiased as possible, and I will split it into different sections for easy reading.
LOOKS/DESIGN
We all know looks do matter, and the ThinkPad is nothing if not distinctive in design.
Unusually amongst modern laptops, the ThinkPad does not have sleek silver curves everywhere. Instead, it is a matt black cuboid, with a nice texture. Some people may not prefer this, as I have been told "It looks like it's from the 80s", but the understatedness of the design is much less showy than most modern laptops, suggesting...

ibm x20
Review of ThinkPad X20 2662 - PIII 600 MHz - 12.1" TFT by
fathazza
Advantages: weight, price, features for the money
Disadvantages: fairly basic spec these days.
...i purchased a refurbished ibm x20 about sixth months ago from a 2nd hand IT retailer .
screen 12.1" 1024x768 tft
cpu , p3-600
ram - variable , 128-320mb
hdd- 20gb
graphics - 4mb ati chip
2x usb 1
1x pcmcia port
1x compact flash port
wieght . 1.4kg
Review: i bought the laptop primarily because i wanted a vaery light laptop and this one provided the best spec for the money.
Mine had 320mb ram, and i have installed windows XP pro on it which runs perfectly well on it, despite the relatively low power of the cpu.
The battery life is surprsingly good, (given the battery was not new) and i get between 2 and 3 hrs on it depending on settings and what programs i am running.
the machine is so light you hardly notice it in your bag, the screen is great and offers a nice 1024x768 which is perfect for the sie of the screen...

Timeless and Useful
Review of ThinkPad X20 2660 - PIII 600 MHz - 12.1" TFT by
pollybeanuk
Advantages: Light and Portable, Durable addable extras
Disadvantages: no cd/dvd writer (in mine) and nub mouse
...This ain't a new model, but you could easily pick this little portable on ebay or at a second hand shop for a small sum. A year or two ago I got mine for 350 pounds on Ebay secondhand (with DVD drive) but now they're going for just £219 buy it now with a CD drive.
So.. the best things in my opinion about this computer is that it's reliable, cheap and simple to use.
AESTHETICS
To me this is a classic style, simple and timeless. It would be difficult to tell the Thinkpad X20 from its more advanced siblings because they're all a similar style. Black, slim.
The CD/DVD drive and floppy drive are all in a separate base, which attaches easily with a click mechanism. With the base the thinkpad is about 3 times the width, but for my purposes I have found it easier just to carry around the laptop without the base and just email myself...
