...There is always a catch. Always. Don’t get me wrong. This little ThinkPad is a gem of technology. It really is portable but its not one of those ‘laptops’ that force you to use the end of pencil to press the keys. No, the ThinkPad is just the right size. Speaking of size, I shall say that the memory that comes with it is not too shabby either. It will be filled up, of course, being used up is the fate that all memory is cursed to suffer, however, in value for money terms the specs for the ThinkPad do nicely. IBM is a large company to. ...I had wanted a laptop for years but never had the courage to actually take the final step of buying one. Even after looking at countless different brands and models I still chose a desktop PC! At a new job I was given a Thinkpad T43. I found it incredibly easy to use, and as I was splitting my time between the office and home was having to carry it around with me. After months of using the laptop my desktop PC at home died and I decided to try and replace it with a Thinkpad. Because I was on a restricted budget and couldn't afford a new laptop I decided to see what was available second-hand. ...As I write a review about a laptop that is six years old, it makes me wonder why I am doing this. Like any self respecting nerd I should be telling the world that it is a useless pile of junk, however there is something endering about my old ThinkPad that makes me use it on a daily basis, and pass over newer machines to use it. People may scoff when I produce the large black, rubberized rectangle from a Compaq case, but when I turn it on people begin to understand why I use such an "obsolete" machine. On paper the 600E is undoubtedly "retro," using nothing more than a Pentium II 400mhz processor, 128megs of RAM, and not a CD-RW or DVD-RW in sight.
