CAN`T STAND THE HEAT?, GET OUT OF HELL`S KITCHEN
Review of Hell's Kitchen - Jeffery Deaver by
stuleg
Advantages: A nice read
Disadvantages: None of note
..."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
Surely nobody really believes that seventy-two year old Ettie Washington was responsible for the devastating fire in her apartment block in Hell’s kitchen, a notorious ghetto in one of the roughest parts of New York City. But all the clues point to this lifelong resident of the neighbourhood – an insurance policy taken out on the premises just weeks before the fire, and two thousand pounds withdrawn from her bank account immediately before the blaze, money that the police believe was used to pay an arsonist to set the fire. Worse still, it seems the arsonist has discovered his calling in life and starts to set fires regularly, with no other suspects strong pressure is applied to Ettie to divulge his identity before someone dies, an event that seems...

Hell is for Heroes - Hell is for Heroes
Review of Hell Is For Heroes - Hell Is For Heroes by
carl.mcqueen
Advantages: Finally reappearing with their 3rd album
Disadvantages: Just not quite as good as before
...Two years in the making…Hell is for Heroes have finally released their third studio album, rather unoriginally self-titled, on Golf Records. For those that know them, and I can’t imagine that’s all that many too be honest, you’ll know them to be classified in the “emo/alternative/rock” genre (if such one exists), with two previous albums – “The Neon Handshake” and “Transmit Disrupt” that were highly thought of in the circles of rock music critics, especially their debut which saw them as a shining, promising light in the new music world. However, many would argue they’ve failed to scale the possible heights they could have attained. The reason? Well, there isn’t one, as this album proves…they may just be one of life’s unlucky bands……
Opening track “To Die For” fails to capture the listeners imagination compared with the opening tracks...

Hells Bells - Like a Bat out of Hell
Review of Bat Out of Hell - Meat Loaf by
supercityfan
Advantages: An absolute classic album
Disadvantages: None
...Is it really thirty years since this album was originally released ?(well coming up for 29 to be precise becasue it was originally released on 21 October 1977). This is rightly rated as one of the greatest albums ever produced, and despite their only being seven tracks on the album, each of them is quite lengthy in nature. This is definitely a case of quality and quantity.
If there is anybody out there who has never heard of Meatloaf, or have only grown up with the later stuff such as I'd do anything for love (but I won't do that) then you haven't lived. This is the ultimate in classic rock, and there really isn't a weak track on the album.
Bat out of Hell is Meatloafs (aka Marvin Lee Aday) second album and by far his most successful. The artwork on the album cover is second to none and depicts a motorbike riding off like a bat...

DMX is HOT and DARK from HELL!
Review of It's Dark And Hell Is Hot [PA] - DMX by
DJ_primo
Advantages: DMX's RUFF RYDERS ANTHEM / superb lyrics, amazing DARK production, gritty flow - BITES!
Disadvantages: DMX's lyrics can be X-plicit and frightening for young children - SO WATCH OUT, GRRR!

THE RUFF RYDERS ALBUMS: IT'S DARK AND HELL IS HOT
The DMX Album Collection - Part I
Author: DJprimo
*********************************************************************** *****
INTRODUCTION
Emerging in the late 1990s, was DMX ( real name: Earl Simmons ), a hardcore rapper who presented a style, quite unique to the modern era of hardcore Hip Hop. His style combines anger, emotions, DOG sounds (e.g. GRRR, BARKS etc.), creativity, innovative lyrics and grittiness to bring out an artist with a DARK, fearsome image. For this reason, some Hip Hop fans have sometimes dubbed DMX as the Dark Man X.
My interests in DMX date back to 2000, when I first watched him collaborate with Aaliyah on 'Come back in one piece...

An evening of Hell with the Satanic Mr Ramsey
Review of Hell's Kitchen by
Lizard_Lover
Advantages: Compulsive viewing, celebrities temper tantrums, fights and screaming
Disadvantages: None
...Reality TV. You either love it or hate it and sadly I fall into the former category and avidly watch most programmes that are forced on the unsuspecting public. With the exception of the dire Big Brother last year I can’t get enough of them, but particularly enjoy them when celebrities are invited to appear as they invariably make a total ass of themselves.
Cue the arrival of something ‘new’. Gordon Ramsey, egotistical Michelin star chef extraordinaire, agreed to take part in a series aptly entitled ‘Hells Kitchen’. Gordon is a chef to the stars and runs a string of restaurants serving posh nosh. He is not only famous for his cooking but his vile temper, opinionated outlook and his rudeness to his staff. Pity his poor wife stuck at home with their four children. She freely admits that Gordon has not been involved...

See You in Hell
Review of Hell Awaits - Slayer by
Frankingsteins
Advantages: Unpredictable, relentless thrash metal from the Underworld.
Disadvantages: Long song lengths lack discipline.
...sound first surfaced on the band's previous release, the four-track E.P. 'Haunting the Chapel,' rather than the 1983 debut 'Show No Mercy' which ran more along the lines of the darker side of the British heavy metal scene, seemingly particularly influenced by the Satanic band Venom with whom Slayer would tour following the release of this album. This Venom and Motörhead influence is still audible in 'Hell Awaits,' but to a far lesser extent, as this is the first Slayer album to set the band's distinctive and highly influential sound, despite the overwhelming plaudits of its successor 'Reign in Blood.' Introducing frequent changes of rhythm and time signature, and breaking chaotically into guitar or drum solos without warning, the material on this album is longer on average than the violent, adrenaline fuelled outbursts Slayer would become...

One Hell of a Good Book
Review of Hell To Pay - Shaun Hutson by
stuleg
Advantages: A fine book from a fine British Author
Disadvantages: Not one
...“To different minds, the same world is a hell and a heaven”
In the quiet idyll of Kingsfield three separate lives are heading for a collision course with potentially disastrous consequences. Detective Inspector Alan Fielding is baffled when the body of a young boy is washed up on the shores of the local reservoir. There are no signs of abuse or mistreatment just one puncture wound where a fatal dose of heroin has been injected, the same as in two previous child deaths that show all the signs of being carried out by the same dangerous killer, a killer that Fielding has to stop before he seeks another young victim. Worst still, all of the three dead children show up on a paedophile website which leads Fielding to believe the killer is a depraved sociopath, who photographs and films his young victims before killing them. In a nearby...

The Road To Hell
Review of Road To Hell, The - Chris Rea by
alan74
Advantages: Great Easy Listening, Nine Quality Songs!
Disadvantages: AAD Disc Reproduction
...Like I have just read on another a review… Who is ‘Chris Rea’, let alone ‘The Road To Hell’!
Chris Rea is the one that’s always in the background of the BBC’s ‘Eastenders’, (at least once a week anyway). Some of the more popular songs of his are; ‘The Road To Hell’ which was nominated for the 1990 Brits Award, and is now classed as a 'DriveTime Classic', ‘Driving Home For Christmas’ is featured on practically all the Christmas compilations, ‘On The Beach’ was turned into a 90’s Dance Re-Mix, ‘Fool if You Think Its All Over’ is one of the all-time classic love songs and of course the duet with Sir Elton John, ‘If You Were Me’, which is available on Chris’ album Espresso Logic or obviously Elton’s ‘Duet’ album. Chris has also written music for the following movies and TV programmes;
Steel River Blues (2004) TV
Yugoslavia...
