Advantages: A typical Chick Lit novel
Disadvantages: Characters a little weak, plot appeals to limited audience.

This Time- It's Okay

Advantages: The variety of tracks
Disadvantages: The enhanced Hanson.net feature that comes on automatically eveytime you want to listen to the CD on computer..grrr

...This Time Around' huh? You think there's some subliminal message in there somewhere...Anyhow, what do I think of this album? It's good, in the kind of lazy day way. A perfect car driving CD, or a sitting at home-nothing-on-tv CD. The mix of songs, is varied, ranging from up tempo tap your hands on the table songs such as 'In The City' and 'You Never Know' to ballads such as the guitar twangy 'Love Song'. Blues guitarist Jonny Lang features on selected tracks and provides some rockin' guitar solo's which just puts the cherry on top of the small bakwell tart. Although Hanson aren't the most credible band around at the moment I think 'This Time Around' is the first step for them branching out from their teeny-pop mould and heading toward a plaster cast more rock and roll shaped....

Have a roaring good time monkeying around this zoo!

Advantages: Good day out for all the family, lots to see and do, regular talks etc, conservation aspect
Disadvantages: Steep hills and easy to get lost

...Colchester Zoo is situated in north east Essex and was first opened in 1963. It is open all year round from 9.30am until 6pm from April - September, and 5pm from October - March (6.30pm in the summer holidays). It is quite well signed up when you get near Colchester and can be located off the A12. You may recognise Colchester Zoo from the popular channel 5 documentary 'Zoo Days' presented by Connie Huq. The zoo has always been popular but I think it has pulled in even more visitors since the programme was aired. This is yet another place where I have visited more times than I would like to admit to. My most recent visit was a couple of days ago so thought I would write a review of it whilst it's fresh in my mind. Review of Colchester Zoo

Three teens with actual talent

Advantages: Wide mix of excellent, original songs from a band with real talent.
Disadvantages: None whatsoever.

...Hanson has come a long, long way since their long-haired "Mmmbop" days. Okay, so little brother Zac still boasts flowing locks, but that has nothing to do with the musical ability of the band, which really seems to have reached new, dizzy heights with this album. There are some sweet ballads reminiscent of the "Middle Of Nowhere" songs, but with a lower pitch and a much rockier feel in places, this is something for everyone. There are bluesy tracks like "Hand In Hand", smooth ballads like "Love Song", pop tracks like "Runaway Run" and real rock-flavoured tracks like "In The City". The real stunners include "Save Me" and funky-sounding tunes like "Can't Stop". There genuinely is something for everyone and it's all been touched by Hanson's real musical ability. Make time for this book!

Advantages: I couldn't put it down.
Disadvantages: I couldn't put it down!

...I love it when I find a book that demands that I finish it, even when it is 1am in the morning and I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be woken by six, this is definately a book like that. "No time for goodbye" is the story of Cynthia Bigge who, aged 15 in 1983 wakes up in the morning to find her whole family gone without a trace and for seemingly no good reason. Twenty five years later and with a family of her own she is still haunted by what happened and the pieces of the puzzle are about to be revealed. I won't ruin the book for anyone by revealing the twists that the plot take, as following them and wondering what is going on is part of the pleasure of reading this book. Cleverly, however, the narrator is Terry, Cynthia's husband rather than Cynthia who is the main character of the book. This allows Cynthia to be viewed...

MAYBE THIS TIME AROUND

Advantages: Try hard, lots of workers and some skill, Richy Foran looks good
Disadvantages: Untried manager, lost some key players,going to be a tough season

...24th from 8th, with the bottom three all level. Carlise are down there, and have been for the last couple of years. Though currently enjoying a slight upturn in form, they still lie in 22nd position, level with bottom Halifax on 16 points. As an Exeter fan, it is reassuring to know there are plenty of teams still down there, but like fans of many other sides, this season will involve plenty of looks over shoulders. Again there seems to be a regular crew of teams around that area. Unfortunately both Torquay and Exeter are a little too close for comfort, but Halifax, York, Lincon, Kidderminster, and of course Carlisle competing together. A sort of sprit develops between the fans; both are in the same boat and go through the same emotions, and as much as you want to win at three o’clock on a Saturday, there is more to it than that...

Horsing Around!

Advantages: Encourages imaginative play, robust
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive

...do find that our two tend to do their own thing most of the time. It is always one of those "Aww, cute!" moments when I find them chatting away to themselves or singing "Horsey, horsey" while they are playing with this. The fact that there are two little Lego people and three horses does mean that there are sufficient components to keep more than one child occupied (although the solitary pony trap has been at the centre of controversy on more than one occasion!) With 36 pieces in total in this set it provides plenty of variety and possibilities - but it does not present too onerous a task when trying to round it all up at night! The box it comes in is pretty sturdy too and we are still storing our set in the original packaging. It is made of cardboard so it can be recycled eventually. Recommended for ages 2-5, there are...
