Three's mobile broadband
Advantages: no contracts
Disadvantages: not as fast as many non dongle internet
...I recenly purchased a pay as you go dongle from three, which enabled me to get mobile broadband.
I purchased a 3GB allowance top up that cost me 15 GBP. All top ups last for 30 days. I purchased mine on 01/09/09 and it expired 30/09/09. I spend about 4 hours a day on the internet, I do not download any music but frequently watch videos on sites such as youtube.com.
I did not run out of top up and found the speed to be quite fast and connection to be quite good.
Customer service is great as you can speak to someone by calling the three customer service number if you have any problems, which is an 078 number (so cost the same as a mobile number and not the dreaded 0845 or 0870 number) and the staff are extremely useful.
There are no contracts, credit checks or anything like that and work just like topping up a mobile phone....

3 Mobile Broadband
Advantages: That one is a bit of a struggle
Disadvantages: It doesn't work, Customer service
...Well it has been a little over 1 years since I have written a review for this site and the only reason I am writing this one is to try and prevent anyone from going through what I have
Around 3 months ago I obtained an 18 month contract for 3's mobile broadband service. The reasoning being that I would get quick and easy access to the internet.
How wrong I was however the service did not work properly from the very first day. I contacted 3 about this problem and was advised to leave it a couple more days just incase the connection had not been put through. So I waited, but still it did not work.
So I was back onto 3 did several speed tests with them turned the computer off and on again unplug the modem and moved it to a different slot and generally wasted an hour of my life. They then said they would investigate the problem...

3 Mobile 'Broadband'
Advantages: The auto-install works well under both Vista and Linux
Disadvantages: The dongle, poor connection, relatively expensive
... Mobile vs Land Line Broadband
I've been with 3 Mobile Broadband for about eight months now as my only available internet connection, and I have to say, it dissapoints on many levels.
Firstly the package
Considering mobile broadband costs more than a comparable landline/cable connection, you'd think you'd get what you pay for. Not so.
For around £100 you get a 12 month max term, 2.7Mb connection, with 12gb of download capacity. Now that's 2.7Mb on a good day, with a good signal, and no loss of connection. When you consider that average HSDPA speeds are 1.8Mb and 3.6Mb you can see that you're not getting close to the max speed possible, never mind capable. If you decide to go for the faster 7.2Mb that Vodafone offer, be sure that you're actually going to be able to get close to that speed in your area, none of the providers...

Three mobile.
Advantages: i cant do it .... i can not lie ..... is there any ?... sorry no.
Disadvantages: you contract ends when they want it to. customer service shockingly bad.
...rental. Wrong we will be charged line rental at the full price no discount nothing in fact the gentleman on the other end of the phone explained how they wanted a one off charge to cover postage. You weigh up your options when you put the phone down and none of it was worth it.
We brought yet another 3 mobile phone from ebay and picked it up the same day.
Month 16 of our contract all going well, not had to contact three customer services and I am relieved, all bills seem to be present and correct and all in all we are happy with our service provider.
My lovely nokia stops working. Oh it is late Saturday night. The phone is less than 12 months old , however I am fully aware I am not covered by three as I brought the phone from ebay.
I look through ebay and all mobile phone shops there is not much choice and you can not buy...

Broadband on the go or at home (O2 Mobile Broadband)
Advantages: Internet without a phone line
Disadvantages: Slow, Unreliable, low data allowance
...Due to BT?s stupid policy of not allowing Broadband through their Pay & Call line (even when there?s plenty of credit) the only way I could connect to the internet was to go down the mobile internet route. As a mobile internet connection is only as good as the mobile network signal I was left with the choice of either O2 or O2 and as I didn?t want to be tied into a contract I decided to go down the Pay As You Go route. Therefore this review is going to focus on my experience of using O2 Pay As You Go Mobile Internet.
To access the mobile internet I firstly needed to purchase a dongle, which cost a fairly reasonable £24.99 but did not come with a data allowance. Installation of the dongle was a fairly painless procedure, and once it was installed, Internet Explorer (yuck) opened and directed me to the O2 Mobile Broadband site where I...

3 mobile broadband- dont bother
Advantages: you get the internet, sometimes.
Disadvantages: its an expensive, awful product.
...Right, bear with me, this is my first review.
I got myself an 18 month contract with 3's mobile broadband purely as it came with a free laptop and the overall cost of the contract was about £70 more than the laptop retail price. Now i thought this sounded FANTASTIC as a 3 gig allowance and 500 texts a month isnt bad. I dont think i could have been more wrong.
In the shop i arranged my contract i was given a coverage check. This turned out to show a fairly decent signal strength, as does the one check on 3's website. Im lucky to get 1 bar (out of 5) signal at best. the modem wont let you connect if your not within 3's range even if it shows signal on another mobile carrier. This can be extremely frustrating as the modem then likes to disconnect itself, which is a complete pain if your shopping or something simillar.
Now...

AT LAST - A BROADBAND CONNECTION BT CAN'T MESS UP
Advantages: Simple to setup, no need for a telephone line
Disadvantages: Expensive, some webistes blocked
...take minutes rather than seconds to load was a backwards step too far, and one I was not prepared to take. It was then that I remembered when I switched from AOL to O2 last autumn there was plenty of talk and buzz about a new product on the market, mobile broadband. Thinking this could be the answer to my problems, I hot footed to PC World to peruse and compare this new and clever way of connecting to the net. The choices were sadly limited; they?d sold out of the O2 option and the ?3? was quickly eschewed when I remembered my neighbour bemoaning the fact his ?3? network phone was all but unusable due to poor coverage. That left Vodafone and T-Mobile, and for no other reason than I knew a mate of mines phone was with Vodafone and I?d seen him use it ? and thus get a signal ? in my very own front room, I went for that option. I chose the Top...

Three.co.uk (3 network) could be a good mobile provider.
Advantages: Inexpensive plans and tariff
Disadvantages: network coverage, phone reception/signal, and customer services
...me to call them when my phone doesn?t have or loss its reception. (In my mind at that time, I was like ?HOW?")
The thing, I was very dissatisfied with Three, was that they hung-up after they tried keeping me into their non-sense discussion and failed to nagging me to stay with them. This was theirs just bloody rude. I believe that I am in good-manner and very polite. I called them again, and they asked me same questions and I had to do whole process again. This time, they put me on hold for over 24 minutes (I put the phone on speaker aside awaiting for their response and doing my work). I think they intended to do this.
Hope that can help you make a well informed decision to choose your mobile services provider. I think you will be OK if you are often outdoor, and make or received few phone call. From my point of view, there are...

Cowboys of the mobile phone world - 3
Advantages: Cheap initially
Disadvantages: Didnt want to help when things went wrong
...I hadn't the 3 mobile network a second thought until I met my partner. I use Virgin personally and am very happy with them considering I bought my phone almost 7 years ago and have never ever had a problem with it or the network coverage. I did consider switching to 3 a year ago when I discovered my partner and I could get very cheap calls to each other, that is until he started having problems with this phone.
I forget the exact name and model of my partners phone but it's a clam shell design one made by Sony. He upgraded to this particular model a year into his contract and at first seemed very happy with it. After about 3 months though things started to go wrong, the phone would after being charged up for several hours suddenly lose all battery power and switch itself off after only a few minutes, once it happened during a call...

3 Mobile Great PAYG
Advantages: Free Internet Free Msn We-Pay Tariff
Disadvantages: Signals
...the Internet.
3 Uses a 3G signal so any mobile on 3 is 3G which means you are able to video call and surf the Internet are broadband like speeds.
You need to be in a 3G area to use planet 3 services which include free News weather sports. You also check your balance using the Planet 3 Internet browser.
If you are in a 2.5G area you cant access all these features. You can still check your balance, use the games and puzzles, download tunes and pictures, get train times and use SpinVox.
When you are out of the 3G area the signal is provided by 02 and Orange. If you go to a 2G area you cannot access the Internet at all.
MSN Messenger is Free on PAYG until December. You need a compatible handset to use then and need to be in a 2.5G area or higher.
The application is very good if you use msn a lot when you are out or in. You can also hide...
