Throwing Musical Gold
Review of Throwing Copper - Live by
damo1980
Advantages: Sold 12 million copies, Out of this world lyrics & music
Disadvantages: Highly addictive
...For those who do not know the band "Live" or had the pleasure of listening to there extraordinary album "Throwing Copper".
Live became very popular internationally in the 1990's producing anthem style rock with spiritual lyrics appealing across a wide music spectrum.
The members of Live first performed in the early 80s in their hometown of York, Pennsylvania, when members Chad Taylor (guitar), Patrick Dahlheimer (bass) and Chad Gracey (drums) began playing together under the name "First Aid".
They entered into a local area talent contest (which they lost) pushing them into the decision of recruiting a new singer… Ed Kowalczyk. As a foursome the group played under many names before settling on "Live".
Three and a bit years after the release of there first album Mental Jewelry in November 1990 , Live returned on April 1994...

Not a Throwaway
Review of Throwing Copper - Live by
delawney
Advantages: Great songs, great lyrics, great album
Disadvantages: Awkward to look for in search engines!
...THE QUICK REVIEW (For those in a hurry)
"Throwing Copper" is the second album from delectable rockers Live. Despite being an absolute pain in the bum to find in online catalogues (since typing in "Live" will bring up a plethora or "live" albums) they are well worth investigating.
Released in the mid 1990s, the album produced a couple of moderately successful hits in the form of "I Alone" and "Selling the Drama". These two excellent tracks are a good indication of the album as a whole. Other standout tracks on the album include "Pillar of Davidson" and "Waitress".
It's always hard to compare artists, but for the want of a better comparison, I would suggest that if you enjoy bands like Pearl Jam and REM, you might well like Live. They are by no means exactly like either of them, but they hint at both.
Live combine delicious...

The mother of all Indie chicks' finest hour
Review of Real Ramona, The - Throwing Muses by
larsbaby
Advantages: Influencial, pioneering, inspirational female led Indie rock
Disadvantages: A left of centre taste is required for this unique sound
...THE LONG ROAD TO RAMONA
My interest in Throwing Muses was sparked some 2 years before the release of this album. Whilst watching some music program, on ITV on a Saturday morning whilst a 6th former (The Chart Show maybe?), during the Indie Charts, where they would show short clips of the top 10, in at number 2, behind the Pixies with Monkey Gone to Heaven (I wasn't aware of them either, as it happens - their time would come at university, but not yet) was Throwing Muses with a track called Dizzy. All I remember seeing was a mad woman yelling "dizzy dizzy dizzy in my head" and on a hunch, I decided this needed further investigation. Remember this was a time where record listening posts were hard to come by and the internet as a source of useless info effectively didn't exist; all you had was your instincts & pocket money. I bought...

Review of Throw Momma From The Train (Wide Screen) by
oclumhain
Advantages: good laugh
Disadvantages: --
...from a Hitchcock film) that they should swap murders. Namely, crystal should murder De Vito’s mother and in return De Vito will kill Crystal’s wife.
Crystal is none too keen to participate in this plan but Danny goes all out to fulfil his end. Eventually, Crystal goes ahead with it after thinking that De Vito has murdered his wife. The film then deals with the various attempts to procure the mother’s death. One of these is an attempt to throw her from a train. Hence the title.
De Vito however has a volte-face and decides that he cannot live without his mum. However, Crystal has finally found inspiration and goes on to write a thriller called ‘Throw Momma From The Train’. His former pupils seem to be successful and he hopes to emulate them. Our friend mentioned at the start has a best seller with his...

She's Not A Woman She's The Terminator
Review of Throw Momma From The Train (Wide Screen) by
Devil_Dude
Advantages: Very Funny
Disadvantages: None!
...Throw Momma From The Train is an outstanding film with exemplary cast performances.
It stars Billy Crystal (When Harry Met Sally, Analyze That) as Larry Donner a writing tutor for adults; his own personal writing career was not doing very well since his wife stole his book ideas. His class all are pretty much no hopers and have peculiar ideas for there books.
And one of his students is Owen Lift (played by co-star and Director; Danny DeVito - Twins, Matilda) Owen is desperate to become a talented writer.
Owen and Larry both have women trouble in their lives but in two different ways.
Larry's ex-wife had stolen a book idea and is now a sucess as a writer.
Owen however lives with a over-powering mother(Anne Ramsey - The Goonie's, Say Yes.)
Eventually Larry and Owen tell each over about their woes. After a re-mark made...

Review of Throw ´n Go Jenga by
DiazX
Advantages: Good entertainment for all ages
Disadvantages: It's just wooden blocks, thats all it is, wood
...I don’t know where I pulled out the terrible pun for the title but I apologise unreservedly for it. Now on with the review....
Jenga, Jenga, Jenga!!! Through an alcohol induced haze the Jenga (throw n go edition, will Americans ever learn to spell??) arrived at the freshly cleared Christmas table. I’d never played before so I had the rules explained, pretty simple, take out the bricks using one hand and don’t knock it over, was I up to the job?? I can’t remember how much I’d had to drink by this point but it was getting close to a bottle of red. Now the twist here is there are three colours of blocks and you get to roll a dice to decide which colour you draw, these advanced rules were beginning to addle my squiffy brain but into the fray I went.
The stack was stacked, probably the most difficult...

Did you throw your coin in?
Review of Fontana di Trevi by
bluejules
Advantages: Beautiful
Disadvantages: Busy
....
Legend has it that it is lucky to throw coins with one's right hand over one's left shoulder into the Trevi Fountain. The legend of the coin throwing is actually that if you throw one coin, you are ensured a return to Rome; two coins to get married; and three to get divorced! When I was there I wasn't aware of the latter two of the legend and so I'm glad I only threw one coin in! It was difficult to get to the front to throw a coin in but the second time we went it was a little bit quieter so there was a small space for me stand. If you walk near the edge though, when people move you can get in quite easily (well, easier than you can if you stand on the path at the top!)
When we set off to go and visit the Fountain, we didn't really know where we were going (but luckily we had a map!!) It seemed to take us a while to get there from where...

Vandals Throwing Bricks at Oncoming Trains
Review of Is public transport a viable option? by
innercircle
Advantages: Lots - Please read
Disadvantages: Non - Please read
...I am not really sure whether I have placed this in the right category or whether its worth noting down or not but if anyone reads this and passes this on, if it stops at least one person doing this then I know I have not wasted my time in writing this review.
Brick throwing at Trains!
I would just like to say how annoyed I was over the weekend. I decided to visit a friend in Manchester and boarding the train at York I was quite looking forward to my journey as it was a Saturday afternoon and the train was pretty packed with passengers going on holiday (the train I had boarded was going to Manchester Airport) and everyone was in the “I’m going on holiday mood” until something happened.
The train had just left one station in West Yorkshire and was picking up some speed when there was a bang! The train started to slow down before...

Flare throwing in Italian Football
Review of Italy by
rambo
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: Violence, thugs, flares etc
...This opinion is about violence in Italian football rather than on the Italian football team. Ciao has not yet updated the football section; please do so guys. If any one watched the Champions league game on Wednesday between internationale and AC Milan they would have been appalled by the flare throwing conducted by Inter fans. Flares are a common sight in Italian football and in other leagues in Europe. Flares are meant to be used a celebration aid and to be thro | | |
