Review of The Fencing Master - Arturo Perez-Reverte by
sally.jenkins
Advantages: Entertaining novel with unusual backdrop
Disadvantages: Not the author's best effort, a little predictable
...to be the great oeuvre that he wants it to be, it must contain the instructions for a master fencing stroke: the perfect, unstoppable thrust. He works on this day and night, but cannot come up with the perfect thrust. He does however have a thrust which he teaches only to a special few who have a certain level of practice in fencing: the two-hundred escudo thrust. He is approached by the beautiful Adela de Otero to learn the two-hundred escudo thrust, and when he takes her onas a pupil he finds himself unwittingly mixed up in dark political intrigues.
The novel is told in the third person, and centres around Jaime Astarloa. However, there are several other characters who provide the framework for the novel: Adela de Otero, the beautiful mysterious woman who appears almost from nowhere; Luis de Ayala, a member of the aristocracy whom Jaime has...

The 'Masters' of 'Puppets'
Review of Master Of Puppets - Metallica by
ondeafears3
Advantages: Flawless Heavy Metal record, technically stunning time signature shifts with occasional classical structuring
Disadvantages: 20 year old production job, could do with a re-mastering
...Time for my ultimate review of what I feel is the finest metal record of all time, 'Master of Puppets' by the masters themselves, 'Metallica'.
Myself, a fan of Heavy Metal entirely because of the music from these guys. It was the 'Black' album that started it all for me in the early 90's upon hearing 'Enter Sandman' on the radio; I was pulled out of my stupid Pop childhood, and taken away into a darker musical place I liked very much. I immediately purchased a copy of the 'Black' album and upon hearing this I read more into the band learning of their thrash roots and much more diverse heavier past. So I sought after their older material beginning with 'Master of Puppet's'. Which brings me to today, where I have quite a collection of 'Metallica's' music having trawled CD fairs for the rarities and odds and sods to build that collection...

Master...Master
Review of Master Of Puppets - Metallica by
mattash55
Advantages: A fine Metallica Album
Disadvantages: None
...-=A little about=-
Master of Puppets (1986), a Metallica album, which has produced some of the most powerful Metallica riffs and all with Ex-bass player Cliff Burton. With James Hetfield introducing those fast and powerful riffs and Kirk Hammett on the lead with maybe a little more thought in his solos than Kill `em All the earlier album, this album is a must buy. Hetfields voice is not as harsh as earlier albums either delivering a good vocal line. The album itself is produced by Metallica and Flemming Ramussen.

MY LIFE WITH 'MASTER AND MARGARITA'
Review of The Master and Margarita - Mikhail Bulgakov by
magdadh
Advantages: Read and decide.
Disadvantages: None as such, you stupid box. Not for everybody perhaps.
...'Early in the morning on the fourteenth of the spring month of Nisan, the Procurator of Judea, Pontius Pilate, in a white cloak lined with blood-red...'
In the days before audience measurement, when some books were banned from official publishing and others would be only available on second-hand market at a price akin to 10% of a teacher's monthly salary, I heard the sentence quoted above read aloud on Polish Radio 3 and so my first experience of 'Master and Margarita' began.
I didn't know it was beginning of the second chapter. I didn't know that the action of the first one took place 1900 years later in Stalinist Moscow. Little I expected that the following ones will include Soviet literati world, broom-stick riding witches, great ball at Satan's and flying pigs. I was 13 years old and I was hooked. Of course, I didn't manage...

Refit old Cab with the WAVE MASTER TAC-T01-E1C
Review of Cooler Master WAVE MASTER TAC-T01-E1C by
simez77
Advantages: Better Cooling & OPtional Directional Door Hinge, Great Looks
Disadvantages: Non
...Erlier on this year I had a overheating problem with one of my computers which was only 6 months old, after getting in touch with the company from who I had purchased the comnputer (T-ME Computers) who informed me over the phone at great expence (£1+min over 1 hour) that the computer would be picked up within 28 days & fixed then rediliverd within 36 days (brilliant costomer support). I decided to go for the more sensable option & sort out the problem myself.
So I went down to the local computer componant supplier & looked through many Computer cabs until I came accross this baby, I decided there and then this is the one.
As soon as I got home I started the mission I first stripped out the old computer of all the internal componants (M bord, P supply, H drives etc). I found that the Instructions supplied with the WAVE MASTER TAC-T01...

CoolerMaster CM690 is the master!
Review of Cooler Master CM 690 by
hairyheppers
Advantages: Cheap, well ventilated, screw-less design
Disadvantages: None for me.
...When upgrading my computer and installed the new parts in my old case, this proved to be a bit of a silly idea as the temperatures it was running at was too high.
Having largely spent out on the upgrade i wanted a fairly cheap case.
The CoolerMaster CM690 looked like it was to fit the bill perfectly, its was fairly cheap approx £55, it did NOT come with power supply, which for me wasn't a problem as I'd just bought a new CoolerMaster Real Power M620 620W PSU.
To start with this case looks very good and feels light when empty.
It also feels sturdy and well balanced on my desk and on carpet, although a carpet with too high a pile on it could interfere with the PSU exhaust and the mounting for another fan.
The front and top of the case is basically a big grille which obviously helps with letting the hot air escape.

Stable Masters, Not Very Stable
Review of Stable Masters 2001 (PC) by
Manofmanywords
Advantages: Puts you in the picture of this game
Disadvantages: Might dampen enthusiasm for would be buyers
...Stable Masters is a horse racing game that has already been reviewed on this website and I was relatively suprised that it got such a good review. Yes the review was good in the way it was written but I have to disagree with many points regarding the overall opinion of the game.
**Introduction**
Stable Masters is a horse racing management game, programmed by ESP Software Ltd and produced by Midas Games. It's original retail price was £19.99 though I have seen it retail for £9.99 in The Game Shop.
The aim of the game is to build up your stable of thoroughbreds, win races and earn money - what else really is there to do?
**System Requirement**
Although this has no bearing on the opinion of the game I will include the system requirements for anybody who quite fancies the game.
As a minimum, Stable Masters requires...

Not as Masterful as it could be!
Review of MasterCook Deluxe 7.0 by
TheChocolateLady
Advantages: Easy program to use, colourful, lots of good information and recipes
Disadvantages: It might crash when you try to add your own recipes or edit existing ones.
...Years ago, I found a really lovely freeware program that allowed me to enter all my favourite recipes, print them out, make shopping lists and even figure out nutritional information per serving, as well as per food item. I was in heaven - it was free, it was easy to use and it gave me everything I needed. But it was DOS based and although when we moved over to Windows it still worked for a while, when we upgraded to XP the program just wouldn't run anymore. After looking around and checking freeware and shareware programs, I decided to purchase this program - MasterCook Deluxe 7.0 because it cost less than US $20 and seemed to have everything my old freeware program had, but in colour, with pictures and running on my new system. Here's what I think of this program.
This is exactly what its title suggests it is supposed...

Masterful Historical Naval Tale
Review of The Hundred Days - Patrick O'Brian by
mr.wibble
Advantages: A Gripping Historical Adventure
Disadvantages: Maybe a Little Too Detailed For Some Taste
...rewarded for your faith and perseverance. To the O’Brian fan club, I offer reassurance: the master has turned in another great performance.
To those not yet addicted, I owe nothing short of an explanation. The Hundred Days is the 19th novel in a series which has been called “the best historical novels ever written”. The series is focussed on two main characters, Jack Aubrey, a sure minded, skilled and courageous Royal Navy Officer who has risen through the ranks, and his “particular friend”, Stephen Maturin. Maturin is an Irish/Catalan physician, natural philosopher, and intelligent agent. The era is that of the Napoleonic wars and the actions of Aubrey and Maturin and the men that they command. There are the most exhilarating encounters that, we are assured by the author, are perfectly accurate renditions of the real Napoleonic battles. I...

Rally Masters
Review of Rally Masters (N64) by
real_rob_writer
Advantages: Fun
Disadvantages: Not great
...countries has around 8 tracks, some circuits and some A to B tracks.
The games sets itself midway between arcade and simulation, more releastic than some games but not as realistics as the likes of Colin McRae. This is good in a way, it doesn't put off the people who like fast paced pick up and play games, nor discourage the realsim freaks. Still the old adage still holds true, jack of all trades master of none. As Rally Masters stands I feel that with a few changes it could become a great sim, while on the other hand with a few different changes it could've been a great arcade game. Rally Masters does implements a good damages system, with different parts of your car (4 wheels, engine and gearbox) taking damage, a seriously damaged area will affect performance, for instance if you wreck one wheel then the car may tend to steer itself in one...
