No Tiger in the Woods
Review of Tiger Woods by
tiger4theopen
Advantages: Legendry
Disadvantages: None
...Eldrick "Tiger" Woods was born on December 30, 1975 in Cypress, California to Earl and Kultida Woods . He is the only child of their marriage but has two half-brothers and a half sister from Earls previous marriage. Earl is retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel .Woods himself is 1/4 Chinese, 1/4 Thai, 1/4 African American, 1/8 Native American, and 1/8Dutch. He refers to his ethnic make-up as "Cablinasian". Woods is a Buddhist. He has said that his faith was acquired from his mother.Tiger Woods got his nickname from a Vietnamese soldier friend of his father, Vuong Dang Phong, to whom his father had also given the "Tiger" nickname. Woods became generally known by that name and by the time he had achieved national status in junior and amateur golf was simply known as "Tiger" Woods. On his twenty-first birthday, Woods changed his name from...

Grouchy Tiger, Hidden Flashy
Review of Flashman and the Tiger - George MacDonald Fraser by
FionaR
Advantages: Another stormer
Disadvantages: The last story is not up to the usual standard
..."Flashman and the Tiger" is the latest Flashman novel to be published. It is actually a collection of three stories, "The Road to Charing Cross" (1880s), "The Subtleties of Baccarat" (1890/1) and "Flashman and the Tiger" (1879 and 1894).
These clearly show Flashman at the end of his army career - but did you think he'd stop getting into trouble? Not a hope. These are just deadly struggles transposed to a different arena and instead of avoiding shot and shell he's avoiding scandal and social ruin (much the same in Flashman's mind anyway).
"The Road to Charing Cross" is the longest story of the three, and firmly in the "Royal Flash" vein. All the ingredients are there - conniving villains, beautiful ladies, danger, larceny, money - and poor old Flash in the thick of it trying to light out for the high ground. Bless him.
"The...

The Teeth of the Tiger - Not a bad bite!
Review of The Teeth of the Tiger - Tom Clancy by
Tirfuir
Advantages: It's a new path for Clancy but still retaining names you'll know if you've read a lot of Clancy
Disadvantages: Its the start of a new series I think!
...The Teeth of the Tiger takes regular Clancy readers away from from what we've come to consider as the Norm.
For those who've never read Clancy before - this could be a place to start - as I do think that this is going to be a new series from the man.
For those who are avid Clancy fans (like myself) it is a bit confusing at first. I'd bought TTOTT along with Red Rabbit and started reading TTOTT before thinking to myself - Damn I've missed a whole book and then started Red Rabbit (only to find I'd gone back in time with that one!)
The Teeth of the Tiger features Jack Ryan Jnr and two of his cousins (who are twins). Jack has a good insight into the Intelligence Gathering side of America thanks to his father and his childhood and manages to "Blag" his way into a job through putting two and two together.
His two cousins...

Tiger, Tiger Burning bright!
Review of Tiger Balm by
jo145
Advantages: Gives pain relief
Disadvantages: Stains clothes and smell!
...Back pain is most debilitating, take my word for it if you have never suffered. I took pain killers for over a week and felt a slight improvement, when suddenly the other side gave way, and pain shot down my leg. Sciatica, said the know all doctors at work, it will go in its own time and come back again. THANK YOU! No sympathy, just get on it with it, don't take back pain lying down, the poster says! I decided to try some pain rub, and went into the Pharmacy to buy something. One of the assistants recommended Tiger Balm, but assured me I would get it cheaper from another shop, I bought the Ralgex instead, but was given the Tiger balm as a gift the following week.
History
This soothing herbal balm was prepared for Chinese emperors who had suffered from various aches and pains. Chinese herbalists and healers used...

Pain Free with Tiger Balm
Review of Tiger Balm by
lauzc69
Advantages: Can be used on lots of things other than pain relief
Disadvantages: Slightly tints your skin
...Ok then folks so here I am again, sitting down to write a review. This time I’m going to tell you about an amazing product that I found in my bathroom cabinet one day, so here goes.
I bet a lot of people don't actually know what on earth Tiger balm is. Firstly, I can guarantee you that there are no tigers in the product! The tiger balm originally originated in a shop in Rangoon, China in the late 1870's. A Hakka herbalist developed the balm after the death of his farther. With help from his brother, they then moved the production to Singapore in the 1920's. He then went on and successfully began selling the Tiger Balm in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Batavia, Thailand and some cities in China.
So what is tiger balm?
Tiger Balm is a world famous pain relieving balm. As an external medication, Tiger Balm provides...

Tiger, Tiger...not so Bright!
Review of Everard's Tiger by
tange
Advantages: A good standard bitter.
Disadvantages: Not going to blow you away
...We were meeting some friends for a drink a short while ago in The Rutland Arms in Chesterfield. There are four of us (two couples) so we generally share a four pint jug of beer ~ it works out cheaper than buying four separate pints, but the only problem is that we have to agree on what beer to drink! This time we had one jug of Black Sheep, but it had run out by the time we wanted a top up. We finally decided on Everard’s Tiger ~ purely because it was the one we hadn’t tried in ages.
~~~THE BREWERY.
Everards Brewery, which is based in Leicester, was founded back in 1849, by William Everard and Thomas Hull. They bought an old porter and ale business (previously owned by the Wilmot family) and also took out the lease on another building nearby. Brewing has carried on ever since and continued success meant that they had to build...
Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright
Review of Tiger Tiger (London) by
fabulous_girl
Advantages: reasonable prices, plenty of seating, good music (IN MY OPINION)
Disadvantages: bad wheelchair access, sometimes a 'meat market'
...Now that I have left London (my student placement has finished so I am back in Kentish lands), I feel I must dedicate this review to my year's stay in the UK's capital, seeing as it was a regular haunt for my friends and I.
Tiger Tiger (TT for the purposes of laziness) is a nightclub and restaurant at Piccadilly Circus, which I happen to love, and I know a couple of my London-based ciao friends like too, so when I heard it described my a 'meat market' by a work friend last week I was pretty surprised. This could be because she said as they dragged me kicking and screaming into Lewisham's only gay club, where everyone dribbled on each other in a far more inappropriate manner than I've ever seen at TT.
Anyway, I for one like it there so I will now try to give you all a feel for the place as well as I can, considering my 5 visits...
Tiger, Tiger Burning Bright
Review of Tesco Tiger Bread by
jo145
Advantages: Fresh bread with added nutrients
Disadvantages: Difficult to slice
...and Housekeeping so learned how to make bread and used to visit the local Bakery with a friend whose father was a Baker so saw it being made in huge mixers and used to get a bit of dough to shape (that wouldn’t be allowed nowadays!)
In Britain all flour except Whole-wheat are required by law to contain added nutrients like thiamine, calcium and iron. This is the reason why bread is a good thing in your diet. About 3 slices of white bread a day provides about one sixth of the calcium requirement. White bread actually contains twice as much calcium as wholemeal!
*BEWARE TIGERS!*
On my usual rush around Tesco I noticed the In-store bakery must have had a new employee – King Alfred no less!! I usually buy Crusty White Farmhouse, but goodness me it was so well fired it was BLACK! I waited to see if anyone would appear to check if they had some...
Review of the Victorinox Century Swiss Army Knife
Review of Victorinox - Swiss Army Knife by
freelancer1
Advantages: Sharp serrated blade, attractive design.
Disadvantages: None that spring to mind.
...I am a little bit sad. You see, I'm a pen knife anorak...
I have four of the things, and use them for camping trips, jobs around the house and those bizarre tasks that pop up from time to time (ever got a lump of chewing gum stuck to your shoe before a meeting?!?) In short - I KNOW about penknives.
Features of the Victorinox Swiss Army Century Swiss Army Knife
Serrated/Straight blade - this is pulled out from the cover by gripping a little groove on the back of the blade. It is made of stainless steel, so it won't rust, and it "locks" when it is in line with the handle. The blade is 4" long and has about 60% serrated edge and 40% straight edge. It is an incredibly sharp blade that cuts just about anything - string...
Aldershot Army Show
Review of Aldershot Army Show by
mrsmopples
Advantages: Children are free to enter, gives the public an insight into army life past and present
Disadvantages: Foul toilets, dusty sight, no shade.
...Aldershot Army Show:
On the 16th July, my family and I attended the Aldershot Army Show. This was the second time we had attended and as previously, had a fantastic day out. I would like to share with you some of our experiences and some photographs of the 2006 show.
****** HISTORY OF THE SHOW ******
Aldershot is a military area. In 1918 a horse show was staged here for the first time which saw both officers and civilians compete in certain events. This was known as "The Horse and Hound Show".
By 1930, the show was growing in popularity and it was renamed "The Aldershot Show". In 1961 the Army introduced a new variety of displays. However due to heavy usage of Rushmoor Arena in world war two, it was decided to use Queens Parade as its venue.
The event was known as the KAPE campaign, which means, Keep...
