Tim Burton's Weird and Wonderful Characters
Advantages: Easy to read, illustrations, weird in a cool sorta way...
Disadvantages: not really a kids book cos it's kinda odd
...From the author of Nightmare Before Christmas comes a brilliant little book called The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy. This oddly dark sounding title preceeds a collection of brilliantly written little stories that are in rhyme.
Just a little bit about Tim Burton. Born in 1958, Tim is the mastermind behind the Batman, Edward Scissorhands and Mars Attacks! He's one of the most acclaimed directors in the world, and still offers his masterpieces in the form of Planet of the Apes, Big Fish, and soon to come, Charlie and the Chocolate factory. As an animator and a poet, Tim channelled his good work into the likes of Nightmare Before Christmas, and ultimately using this skill to produce Oyster Boy.
The Melancholoy Death of Oyster Boy has a collection of weird and wonderful stories about characters that you'd never even dream of. Oyster...

Tim Burton has a Go At Poetry
Advantages: Twisted Fun, great illustration
Disadvantages: Too God Damn Short!!
...Who loves Tim Burton?? Thats right, we all do. And this book will make you love him that much more.
Summary: A collection of poems, dealing with kids and teenagers with very strange and twisted problems, executed beautifully and sympathetically, with the dark twisted signature of Mr Burton that we all expect and love.
If someone gave you a piece of poetry entitled "Jimmy, the hideous Penguin Boy" you would probably, smile, nod and slowly walk away. But if Mr Burton gave you a poem entitled "Jimmy, the hideous Penguin Boy", you would read it, love it, laugh and possibly read it again.
The execution of the short "stories" if you will, are so compassionate, simple and downright hilarious that you wont want to lend this book to anyone.
Simplicity is key. For example, in "Stain Boy"...."Sometimes I know it bothers him, that he...

Tim Burton's Beetlejuice
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...If you are looking for something out of the ordinary or with wonderfully freaky visuals then you can't get better than movies by a directed caled Tim Burton. This guy si 100% consistent in giving us movies which are a little off the wall and wacky, and which are delightfully viewing because of that. Beetlejuice is one of his earlier works, but it stands the test of time well...well enough to deserve a watch.
The plot behind Beetlejuice is as bizarre as it is simple. Ok, its not simple, but it is definitely bizarre. A young couple find themselves all of a sudden very...dead. Perturbed by this fact they also find that months have past and that their house is up for sale and in fact now occupied by a new set of people. These people want to change their house...and they have NO taste at all. Naturally our ghosts are slightly miffed by...

Tim Burton at His Finest
Advantages: Gorgeous visuals, solid acting, good story, Elfman soundtrack
Disadvantages: Not on DVD yet
...Most people are familiar with the combined madness and genius that is Tim Burton's movies. If you have not seen Edward Scissorhands, then you are missing the best example of his work. Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder are perfect in their roles, and help drive the emotion that runs through the movie. The visuals are Burton at his best - dark, imaginative, and twisted. I feel the movie combines Burton's typical style with the black humour of films like Pleasantville and Truman Show. This is the sort of movie that you would be best to buy on DVD, if only to appreciate the stunning visuals, and Danny Elfman's brilliant (as always) soundtrack. The 10th anniversary disc comes out in September - I can't wait!...

BURTONS
Advantages: Large range of cheap smart clothes
Disadvantages: none
...Burtons is just the sort of place I always seem to end up in when I go shopping. Its not that I really buy that much stuff there (I'm a bit scruffy most of the time), but just being there is something you have to do.
The shop has a very classy image when compared to others in the high street. They sell some real quality clothes at some very reasonable prices. If I was to be buying anything at all smart, I'd always head straight for Burtons.
I bought a suit there this year, and the staff were very helpful. After just a second of looking through their stock, a woman approached me to see if she could help. I obviously did need a bit of help because I hadn't needed a nice suit before. She took all the necessary measurements and I was actually out of the shop again fairly quickly. I also bought some shirts, ties and a pair...

Burton - Fantastic!
Advantages: Stores bright & good layout, friendly staff, wide choice
Disadvantages: Sometimes it's worth waiting for the sales!
...::::INTRODUCTION::::
Burton is part of the Arcadia Retail group, which has many fashion retailers such as TopMan and the rest are women's like TopShop, Dorethy Perkins, Wallis, Evans and Miss Selfridge.
The first store was opened in 1903 by Montague Burton, after borrowing £100 from a relitave to open the cross-tailoring company in Chesterfield.
His aim was "Good clothes for a mans self-respect".
This continues today with modern and stylish clothing with usually a dedicated suit area in the store and a good selection of footwear and accessories.
::::HISTORY::::
At the start of World War 1 Burton changed to start producing Armed Forces uniforms' instead of suits. These unfiroms made by Burton clothed nearly a quarter of all service men and women during The Great War.
Mr Burton recieved a Knight-hood in 1931 for his efforts in...

Burtons Clothes Store
Advantages: Good selections
Disadvantages: Not well laid out in shop
...Since fashion became something to be more conscious about for me, (few years ago) I thought it would be a good idea to make sure I knew what the different Men’s stores around my local area were like.
Burtons is quite an established store, for men only, (although my mum does go in when she's looking for my Christmas presents etc) and does offer quite a good range in the latest fashions. It has a good selection of Jeans, both its own brand, and other brands like Wrangler. The casual wear continues with T-shirts and jumpers, all quite suitable for the young men of today to wear out on the streets.
Burtons also has a good selection of clothes for going out in. The selection of shirts is good, quite a wide range from the near-Hawaiian shirts for the summer, to the long sleeved cotton shirts. The smart trousers aren't of the best...

Whimsically Equine (Tim the Tiny Horse - Harry Hill)
Advantages: funny and gentle
Disadvantages: slight
...After doing even tiny bit of research I realised that I must be the only person out there who ever read "Tim the Tiny Horse" having never heard of the author. Thus, I have to take another reviewer's word that it's "typical Harry Hill" and will make an attempt at reviewing Tim as a stand-alone.
I am happy to say that it acquits itself well. Tim is a horse, blue and so tiny that he lives in matchbox with a tic-tac box for a conservatory. A single Hoola-Hoop makes his lunch (he prefers barbecue beef flavour) and a fly (called Fly) is his best friend. Tim doesn't do much - apart from a few not very successful attempts at making it big in the media he seems to spend his days watching television and socialising with Fly.
The book contains several short morality tales featuring Tim; each of them is a few pages long, with a little text...

Go for a Burton
Advantages: Good Range, Good Quality, Good Prices
Disadvantages: None
...A great shop for men. Great value, great quality, good range, friendly staff. That just about sums up my opinion of the Burtons Mensware shops in the UK. Now I've got to try and pad this thing out to make 90 words.
Joking aside I have honestly given my opinion in the first sentence, but what leads me to this conclusion? I have shopped at Burtons both man and boy and have always been very pleased with their products. On the rare ocassion I have had to return anything the staff have bent over backwards to help and replaced or refunded without question. I have always found what I have been looking for and paid a reasonable price.
Sale time is always good too and there are some excellent bargains to be found.
I have also used their hire facility to hire out dinner suits and found this service to also be excellent in both cost...
