...This is a brilliant CD player. I've had it about a year and nothing has gone wrong with it. It does everything I want it to apart from two things. You can't switch it on and off by remote and it hasn't got a timer. It doesn't really need a timer as you can leave it on when you put the plug into a timer and it starts playing when the power comes on. You can fast forward, skip, program tracks, search for a track and many more features. It also has an optical output so I can make copies of CDs easier.... Read review

Advantages: lots of features
Disadvantages: instructions not very clear

...I recently purchased a couple of timer switches, as I was going away on holiday and for security wanted some lights to switch on. I previously had some timers but they were old and the type with the little pegs that go in the time segments. I found that many were missing so decided it was time to buy some new ones. I purchases some First Alert Digital Timers (model number LS570UK)- I chose this brand as I was impressed with the smoke alarm I had purchased also manufactured by them. The timers were £15.99 from my local Toolbank store, (also know as Curtis Holt) but a friend of my purchased one from Great Mills, so I assume they are widely available. The timers have a 1 year guarantee and a CE safety mark. The timer has loads of functions (probably more than needed) but I was very impressed with two of them- The random time programme... Advantages: Timer, ease of use, HOT coffee quickly,
Disadvantages: Not as attractive as some trendy machines

...What appealed to me about this machine was the timer and the lack of a glass jar. Having used this machine now for over 18 months I can confirm it is the best coffee machine I have ever owned. Not the most attractive machine, but ease of use easily compensates for this. Water is loaded from the top "jug" to a wide open container at the side, avoiding spills. The "jug" is then replaced and a filter holder and reusable filter placed in the top. I set the timer for the morning and wake up to freshly made coffee every morning. For instant use it takes only a few minutes to make hot coffee which is easily dispenses through a valve at the front. Takes most sized coffee cups and with a bit of imagination you can fill the thermos up directly too. Is still going strong after 18 months and coffee tastes very good.... Read review

...Getting totally fed up with my inability to cook the perfect soft-boiled egg, for him to dip his toasted soldiers in, my husband bought me this egg timer with a difference. It is made of hard plastic, shaped like an egg, but flat on one side. It is red in colour, with very clear white markings labelled (from outside edge inwards) “soft”, “medium” and “hard”. The idea is that you place the timer into the pan, *with* your eggs and cook them as usual. The timer changes colour over time, turning black from the outside edge in. As the inner edge of the black reaches each mark, it is informing you how well cooked your eggs are, “soft”, “medium” or “hard” boiled. Advantages: A brilliant team game
Disadvantages: You need at least 4 people to play it

...This is a great game to play when you have a group of friends round. Two teams. The game begins when one person presses the large button on the word spinner. A word is shown on the screen. The electronic timer is then started and the person must describe the word to his team-mates (without mentioning it) until one of them gets it. The word spinner thing is then passed over to the other team. Play carries on until the timer stops. The team holding the word spinner thing when this happens loses and the other team move their playing piece one space along the board. The first team to reach the end of the board is declared the winner. The rules are really simple and the game is a great laugh. Any number of people can play (as many as can fit in your living room really) and it never gets boring. Password is definitely worth buying.... Read review

Sanyo broke the mold when they designed this camera. It is easy to use, yet smart enough to capture professional quality pictures. It is durable and dependable. The LCD screen is a plus feature making it easier to capture the right pose and images that you want. It can be connected to a computer or tv to view the images. You can take a short movie clip as well. It gives you many option such as manual flash, instant flash, self timer mode, Macro imaging for those who like very close ups. Disadvantages: Noisy, broke after a year or so, only has a C economy rating

...The dishwasher is very cheap to buy, but not worth it in my opinion. You may as well spend a bit more and get something decent as the machine is cheaply assembled and things started to go wrong on mine after just over a year. The timer began sticking meaning the dishwasher cannot be left unattended or else it would sit there washing forever (you had to manually click the timer onto the next setting.) This means you can never start it and go out! The unit is also VERY noisy when running. The door release button also worked loose and after having mine for around 2 years it has now started leaking, it begins the 'filling' cycle and never stops! Kitchen full of water! Oh dear. I have gone out and bought a Bosch unit which is miles better.... Read review

Advantages: Good cooker

...Admittedly the first thing I fell for with this cooker was its appearance, I fell for the silver look of it and it is very sleek, it was just what I wanted. Thankfully it has also turned out to be an excellent cooker, it has 3 normal rings and one halogen ring for speedy cooking. It has two ovens, the top one also doubles as a grill. The ovens are spacious and cook evenly, the bottom oven is fan assisted. The top oven works well as a grill and the grill pan handles are easy to put on and take off. It is easy to clean and always looks good, the only disadvantage I find is that though it has a countdown timer, it doesn't have an automatic timer which you can set to turn the oven on.... ...We have a 13 yr old Saisho combi microwave/oven. It's big, it's heavy, but it still cooks. We decided to retire it and buy something newer. Trying a few out around the £60 mark, we didn't like the rotary dial timers but wanted push buttons. The Sharp R654 appeared to be the best of a bad lot. We didn't want to spend lots of money as it's only used to microwave beans, veg, milk etc., and not used as a meat cooker. The unit is well packed and comes with an instruction manual that is ok to understand. The power output is a healthy 800W, and there is a grill if you need that option. The unit feels very lightweight compared to my metal monster, plastic featuring very heavily in its construction (no pun intended). The door opens and closes by means of simple catches. These feel flimsy, but not as flimsy as similar brands. I don't think... Read review
