...Getting totally fed up with my inability to cook the perfect soft-boiled egg, for him to dip his toasted soldiers in, my husband bought me this egg timer with a difference. It is made of hard plastic, shaped like an egg, but flat on one side. It is red in colour, with very clear white markings labelled (from outside edge inwards) “soft”, “medium” and “hard”. The idea is that you place the timer into the pan, *with* your eggs and cook them as usual. The timer changes colour over time, turning black from the outside edge in. ...I recently purchased a couple of timer switches, as I was going away on holiday and for security wanted some lights to switch on. I previously had some timers but they were old and the type with the little pegs that go in the time segments. I found that many were missing so decided it was time to buy some new ones. I purchases some First Alert Digital Timers (model number LS570UK)- I chose this brand as I was impressed with the smoke alarm I had purchased also manufactured by them. The timers were £15.99 from my local Toolbank store, (also know as Curtis Holt) but a friend of my purchased one from Great Mills, so I assume they are widely available. The timers have a 1 year guarantee and a CE safety mark. The timer has loads of functions (probably more than needed) but I was very impressed with two of them- The random time programme... ...to store in the cupboard. An added bonus is that it is washable and can be wiped down after each use. Ok, kind of giving away the fact that yes, my children turn into little peppermint monsters with white foam spewing from every oraphis at toothbrushing times! Hopefully this graphic image will not put you off the product too much though! This simple design is great - the idea is that you put tooth paste onto your toothbrush wet it with cold water, and turn over the timer as you begin to brush. The sand timer ticks away the two minutes time reccommended to spend throughly brushing your teeth. I always, and so also teach my children to spend two minutes brushing the top row of teeth and then spend another two minutes gently brushing the lower row. ...When i first opened the package and read the back of the case, i was like, "I can't do this". Mainly because of the prospect of taking on 190 goals of various difficulty levels. Why is this good? Because i'm absolutely brilliant at Tony Hawk's and the sheer difficulty of this game should keep anybody amused for a very long time. A new layout, getting rid of that annoying timer in favour of collectable goals, adds to the enjoyment. ------------------------Overview-------------------------- As soon as you have loaded the disc, you are faced with a very good soundtrack (featuring Ace of Spades, by AC/DC). ...What appealed to me about this machine was the timer and the lack of a glass jar. Having used this machine now for over 18 months I can confirm it is the best coffee machine I have ever owned. Not the most attractive machine, but ease of use easily compensates for this. Water is loaded from the top "jug" to a wide open container at the side, avoiding spills.
