Advantages: Excellent music.
Disadvantages: Must play loud.

...This is the real classic Tina Turner. If you have ever seen Tina Turner in a concert (either live or on television) then you will be able to picture her dancing and performing, as she sings some of the all time greats on this album. If you are going to listen to this music then you really must play it loud. My own preference is to play it through headphones, so loud that your ears ring when you take the headphones off. I know I may be too old to still want to listen to music that loud, but this album takes me back to a much younger time. If you own this album and you haven?t played it for some time then just play the first two tracks from side one: Steamy Windows and The Best. Is it really the best

Advantages: Some good songs...
Disadvantages: ...but not as many as you'd expect on a Best Of

...This album is not really the best of Tina Turner, in my opinion. I know I am biased towards her earliest material – and by that I mean the Ike and Tina recordings, and up until the solo “Private Dancer” album. “River deep mountain high”, “Sexy Ida”, and “Nutbush City Limits” (the Ike and Tina version, not the 90’s version that appears on “The best”) are well up there on my list of all time favourites. I love her voice, her energy, and I also think she’s a great performer, and admire her very much as a person. But… too many of the songs on here sound like tired old, bombastict songs from (dare I say it?) white musicians. I know that Tina herself isn’t trying to sound like a white singer – it’s her use of backing musicians...

Tina Dico, In the Red

Advantages: Lovely lyrics, a good voice
Disadvantages: A couple of bad songs

...Tina Dico is a little known artist I came across a couple of years ago due to a friend. 'In the Red' is her first album, and one I actually saw her perform live, which was very good. I bought the album some time later. This album is very relaxed acoustic soft pop. If you quite like Dido, then you'll like Tina Dico, only Tina's voice is a tad less grating than Dido's. She's a very throaty singer, and comes out with a few stunning lyrics that really do grab you with their realism, stuff like 'Watch my neighbours go to work and look exhausted and burnt out when they get back'. My particular favourites from this album are "Head Shop' and 'One', though I found the songs 'In the Red' and 'Use Me' to be very slow and a tad repetitive. Overall a very nice album to listen to. Very relaxing and a good thing to put on while you have friends...
