Tuna-Tastic!
Review of John West Tuna Chunks by  Gemerina

Advantages: tastes nice, an essential source of omega three
Disadvantages: fishy smell, the price

...As some of you may know, I have embarked upon a healthy eating plan and started to go to the gym three times a week to lose some excess pounds. It can be a difficult struggle cutting the calories and the junk food so I had to invent some filling, nutritious, tasty but not calorific meals. ------------------------So what is it? --------------------------------------------- The product I will be reviewing will be John West's Tuna Chunks in spring water, although there are many other varieties available within the supermarkets such as tuna in sunflower oil and tuna in brine. John West Tuna Chunks in spring water come in a tin can and they contain 185g. The tin has dark green labelling with a sort of wave pattern of blue on it, with the title of the tuna and the nutritional information... Read review

SINGING FROM THE SAME 'TUNA' BOOK !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review of Marks & Spencer Yellowfin Tuna Fillets by  hiedihi

Advantages: TOTALLY GORGEOUS STUFF !!!
Disadvantages: FAIRLY EXPENSIVE TO BUY.

...into fillets before being hand packed into each jar. These fillets have such a lovely depth of flavour which is utterly different and incomparable to the taste of tinned tuna. Its light, fresh, slightly oily and lights up the taste buds. The texture is soft and flaky yet robust. These fillets are preserved in olive oil which again adds a depth to the already wonderful flavour of the tuna fish. May I add that this product is completely dolphin friendly……… The jar looks very sleek and modern. It has a black label with gold writing and a small image of a trawler with many birds flocking around it. The jar is see through so what you see really is what you get and the lid is in black to match the label. The jar stands at approximately 4 inches in height with a diameter of almost 3 inches and this means it is big enough to recycle. I keep... Read review

Fish in a tin
Review of Princes Tuna Chunks by  gill1960

Advantages: Good for you
Disadvantages: none

...Fishy facts. I'm doing this opinion in 2 stages. Fast facts and detailed facts. *********************FAST FACTS******************** Princes Tuna chunks in suflower oil are cheap, tasty and good for you. You can also buy them in brine. 185g net weight.....135g drained weight. The price is 66p approx from most major supermarkets. You can buy this size tin in packs of four. You can get Princes Tuna in larger tins, but I stick to the smaller tins, so I cannot comment on the weight of the larger tin. ****************DETAILED FACTS********************* ******************THE FISH************************** Tuna is a common name for any large, pelagic schooling fish of thunnus and related genera, of the family scombridae, order perciformes. Tuna are found in most seas around the world and have long been valued as food fish... Read review

Tuna, stock up for Christmas
Review of Tesco Value Tuna by  BUBBLES171

Advantages: plenty
Disadvantages: none

...Well where do I start, I must admit, I have fads on Tuna and the prices are always up and down and sometimes I have bought tins and wish to god I had not bothered as there was no taste to them. So here in my bargain quest is my opinion on Tesco Value Tuna. Price 33p a tin of 129g. All the tins of tuna normally come in at around this size. Packaging. --------------- Round can 185g with the tuna chunks in brine and the drained weight tells you on the reverse of the packet that it is 129g drained. It is the normal size of all tuna cans and has the distinctive 7 blue lines on it with Tesco value on the front. The label of the can is the usual white Tesco value label and it has Tuna Chunks written in large blue letters on the front and underneath in smaller writing is in brine. As you turn the tin around it also says... Read review

Tuna
Review of Tesco Value Tuna by  redballoon

Advantages: Dolphin Friendly
Disadvantages: The brine but you get that will all tinned tuna

...I am always on the hunt for the bargains and to help me save some pennies when doing my food shopping. I was in Tesco's and I normally buy the odd item from their value range, I had never seen that they did Tuna and for 33p for the normal sized tin I thought I'd give it a go as this is a lot cheaper than what I normally buy (John West) I checked before I brought the Tuna that it is Dolphin Friendly, which indeed it is. It is underwritten with the Tesco commitment, if you do not like it, take it back. The tuna comes in brine water which you have to drain and I like to wash it in cold water to make sure that all the brine has gone. As soon as you open the tin like all the other tuna makes you can smell the fishy smell emerging from the tin. The appearance of the tuna is very similar to the John West Tuna, Slightly pink... Tuna delights
Review of Princes Tuna Chunks by  Bryn_Pearson

Advantages: really quite good for you.
Disadvantages: I've eaten too much.

...Prime chunks of tuna covered in thick milk chocolate.... When I first became pregnant, I went off all red meat, and rapidly found that fish was about all I could manage. Being worried about getting a decent balance in my diet, I got through a good deal of fish. Fish is best fresh - no two ways about this, however, fishmongers have all but vanished so you are dependent on whatever your supermarket can manage. Fresh fish does not keep well, even in a fridge, and freezing would defeat the object, so tinned and pre-frozen soon become unavoidable. I've always liked tuna, I'll admit that there was a long period when I could no longer face it - but an overdose can do that to you. Tunas are quite large fish, so you just get bits in the tin - cooked, and usually missing skin, bones, fins, heads etc. You do occasionally get the odd bone... Read review

Newsflash! Plain old tuna has been dressed up!
Review of Heinz Weight Watchers Tuna Tomato & Herb Dressing by  Wearsidelass

Advantages: Helps that waistline get a little bit slimmer!
Disadvantages: If you don't like fish then you won't like this!

...I have never really been a great lover of tuna as I always found it to be a dull type of fish dish. Quite dry in fact unless smothered in some kind of oil. Good for you, I know, but not very appetising. A while back whilst browsing in the supermarket, I caught sight of a pack of three tins of tuna called "Weightwatchers from Heinz" so I decided to take a closer look. I picked up the tomato & herb variety and took a closer look at the contents section. I always look immediately at the nutrional information and check out the kcals and saturated fat contents. One can is 80 kcal with 0.2g of saturated fat content. The can is approximately 2.5" in diamater x 1.5" height. Not a large tin by any means but certainly enought for one person. If you are anything like me, I open a normal size tin of tuna, take a bit out, then end up... Read review

Tuna with a difference
Review of Weightwatchers from Heinz Tuna & Mango Chutney by  levenite

Advantages: Makes a nice change
Disadvantages: Supposed to be for weight watchers only

...These come as a 3 pack surrounded by a cardbord box and are available in Tuna,Tomato & Herb, Coronation Tuna, Tuna, mayo & sweetcorn, Salmon in Lemon Mayo, as well as the Tuna & Mango Chutney variery which is the one i'm going to review. You can buy them from all major supermarkets priced around £1.78 I normally take cheese or ham sandwiches to work for lunch, but last night as i was doing the packing up i fancied something different. I looked in the cupboard and there it was a little purple and green tin with the Weight Watchers from Heinz logo on it and the words Tuna in Mango Chutney. I decided i wanted a sandwich but on past experience i take the dry bread and the tin to make the sandwich as i'm about to eat it as i find the bread gets quite wet if left overnight. So lunch time finally arrives and i am starving, i open up my... Read review

Tuna, does'nt have to be boring !
Review of John West Tuna Chunks by  cashman44

Advantages: Healthy, good for the brain, must eat more of it !!
Disadvantages: None ... if you dont like fish ... dont eat it !!

...This review on tuna fish is going to be a bit of a strange one. If you have to think about what you can do with the stuff, your options are going to be pretty limited....... cold buffets, sarnies, bagetts ,salads, vol-au- vaunts ?, yes, boring, it's one of those things stuffed in the back of the food cupboard..... just in case someone comes round, or you can go overboard and stick some cucumber in between, just to spice things up a bit !. Tuna .... you know it makes sense ! **************************************** Well , ( as far as I know , ) this will be an original twist on our poor old tin of "John West Tuna Chunks " . And please , dont opt for the healthy option, "in brine", "in spring water", cos it's meant to be swimming in lovely thick sunflower oil, ...... this is another reason for choosing the ' John West' brand... WEIGHT WATCHERS tuna in mango chutney, YUM YUM
Review of Weightwatchers from Heinz Tuna & Mango Chutney by  bibby29

Advantages: They are low in sins on red day, and they are LUSH
Disadvantages: IT'S TOOOO SMALL

...Hello again, I was doing my cleaning and all of a sudden my stomach started to growl, i thought 'what am i going to to have to eat' as i haven't been shopping (you know one of those days). -THE FRIDGE WAS BARE- So to my dispare the fridge was bare, Hey! that rhymes, lol. No ham, no low fat spread, not a pickle in sight. So i looked in my cupboard and there it was a TIN OF WEIGHT WATCHERS TUNA IN MANGO CHUTNEY lush. -THE PACKAGING- Ok it comes in box with 3 tins inside which weigh 80g each. The front of the box is a picture of a plate with granary type bread and loads of TUNA IN MANGO all over it with some salad. For some of you who do weight watchers they are 1 point per tin. The actual tuna is JOHN WEST. It also says: Dolphin friendly On glancing at the tin (which is quite small) i could easily get in my... Read review
