...Having taken up golf in the last year i've lost (and found) alot of golf balls on the local fairways as you might expect, most of these balls are then hit and lost again for someone else to find and so the cycle continues. That was at least until i slowly showed signs of improvement and treated myself to a sleeve (pack of 3) of Titleist NXT tour golf balls from my local pro shop for £4.99, i must admit i wasnt keen to part with almost a fiver for 3 golf balls but you know the way it is... better equipment will make me a better player right? well funnily enough it may have helped a little. So what is so special about the NXT tour series of ball? Well, firstly its round (which helps) so nothing special there then, its when you first tee one up and hit it - that's when you know you've just hit a great ball, when you manage to tee...

I've Got Soft Balls!

Advantages: Extra distance with the driver. Excellent control and spin. Well priced high performance golf ball for the average golfer.
Disadvantages: Meaningless advertising.

Review of Srixon Distance Golf Balls

Nike Golf Nike One Black Golf Balls

Advantages: Very very long
Disadvantages: expensive to lose

...awat from the hole, infact on one hole i was around 25 feet away and missed the putt by inches. i can not really comment on the spin factor because i very rarely get back spin but for the low handicappers i would imagine they could use these with ease. The ball has a lot of durability and is still nice and shiny, the only down side is that a dozen cost around £30 that over £2 per ball. if you are struggling dfor distance give one a go, but if you tend to lose balls why waste your money stay with what you have. I would have to say though that the Nike One black is well worth the money if you want more distance and more control, Personally i do think they are better than most golf balls on the market and i have to say they seem better than my usual Titleist PTS solo, but i cannot afford to buy the Nike so i will have to use PTS...

Review of Nike Golf One Black Golf Balls

A cheap way to improve you're golf swing

Advantages: very cheap, they work, you can practice in the garden
Disadvantages: you may prefer real golf balls

...I have recently got back into golf again and played a few 9 hole rounds with friends, but I was very rusty as it has been a while! The main problem, as most players find when they play infrequently was my swing. One minute I'd completely slice the ball and the next hit a reasonable shot. The tee shots were the most annoying because they setup how the hole is going to pan out for you and most of the time I was leaving myself a lot to do. After playing a quite dissapointing round we had a look in the club shop to see what they had on offer. I noticed these airflow practice balls and they seemed like a fab training aid and something which should really help my swing. They are exactly the same size and dimension as a normal golf ball, but are of plastic construction and have airholes all over them, producing maximum drag from the moment...

Titleist Pro V1 - the best ball yet

Advantages: great feel and distance
Disadvantages: cost

...I have been playing golf for 15 years and always play with a Titleist ball. It's something of a habit, but the ball suits my game. In cold wet conditions I'll play with the pts wound ball, and in dry summer conditions the professional balata. That was until I tried the newest product from Titleist, the pro V1. It is the tour professionals choice of ball combining both distance and feel.It is longer off the tee than the balata ball but gets enormous spin around the green. I'm not sure how Titleist have done it, but I was amazed at the extra length I got off the tee and the control and spin I got around the green. Putting with it is a dream, the ball doesn't fly off the putter like the wound ball. At the moment the cost of the ball will put off all but the most accomplished golfer, at £35 a dozen you don't really want to 'lose' a ball...

The Cobra Golf Ball, Where is it?

Advantages: I maybe saving you some time

...Ok, This review is simply to put you straight. This website claims that Cobra Golf make a golf ball. I can tell you that Cobra do no such thing. Cobra are an excellent golf manufacturer, they make clubs, bags, gloves, towels etc. however the investment in technology and research required for them to create there own golf ball has put them off the idea. Cobra has a reputation for making high quality accessories and high power clubs. Cobra's pride and joy is it's range of drivers. The best and most expensive of which is the King Cobra 440sz. I haven't used this on the course but have had the fortune of trying this weapon on the range. I can tell you, it's a pleasure. Trying a new club is always exciting but this was quite an experience. Advantages: Great name in golf balls
Disadvantages: Not really for high handicappers

...I'm not really into the science of golf balls, all I know is that there are good balls and not so good balls. I wouldn't play with golf balls that cost 20p per ball such as Donnay because they don't feel nice to hit and yes on the golf course you just don't use Donnay to play low rounds and in tourneys. I tried a titleist Pro V1X today in a Stableford tourney off white tees so I had a little extra yardage to play, I mostly use Titleist PTS Solo because they are designed for mid to high handicappers, and I can hit them, so they work for me. Titleist have brought out this new breed of ball, and as i said I don't know the science so i'm not going to say there is this and there is that, etc. All i know is that these balls are designed to cut out spin, have a lower flight and create more distance, however, I never saw any of that.
