Tivoli Gardens - the centre of Copenhagen

Advantages: Red noses, cold hands and wonder galore - a must do Christmas experience
Disadvantages: It gets might darned cold!!!

...of Tivoli in 1844, "Tivoli will never, so to speak, be finished," and he was right, it has changed and grown over the years. Tivoli is situated in the heart in Copenhagen at Vesterbrogade, it is situated right beside the Town Hall square and Central Station., there is no missing it and the buses all stop at the garden entrance. I have heard people give bad reviews of Tivoli gardens, but I think the reason for this is that they are expecting a 'Disney' type park - that is not what Tivoli is about - it is an amusement park that has timeless charm and class that you can't get anywhere else. Tivoli Gardens truly is a remarkable place.There are beautiful gardens, wonderful restaurants and entertainment. With great rides for both children and adults. I have never been to Tivoli during the summer so this review is about the Christmas Market...

I';ve been to Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen - this doesn't compare

Advantages: Beautiful settings
Disadvantages: A lame tired old theme park!!

... TIVOLI WORLD BENALMADENA We visited Tivoli World on the Costa del Sol when we were staying at Benalmadena Costa, close to Malaga. Tivoli World is in the Arroyo de la Miel isr egion of Benalmadena halfway between Pueblo Benalmadena in the mountains and Benalmadena Costa on the coast. As well as a theme park Tivolii World holds a market ( which they call a Bric-a-Brac Garden Market) from 11am to 1pm each Sunday and cthis osts 1 euro for each adult to get in. Basically this is a Spanish car boot sale !! The gardens themselves are very pretty with fountains and birds. The Spanish claim that there are over 30 rides and attractions - I don't personally think they are very good at maths!!! They also claim that it is 'Similar to Disney' again their observation skills seem a little lapse...

Tremendous Tivoli World

Advantages: Good Value, good food, good day out
Disadvantages: kids want to keep going back :(

...right is Tivoli World. Entrance fee for all classes is $4.50 Euro, approx £3.00 sterling. For this fee you have access to the gardens, numerous bars and restaurants and several free shows. As you make your way up the hill. On you left is a superb English restaurant, with English staff, here you will find some of the best Fish and Chips you'll ever have, and I recommend it as a good place for lunch, they are very reasonably priced as well. If you wish to take the rides, you buy a ticket for aprox $10.00 Euro. The 'Supertivolino', this gives you unlimited access to more than 30 rides or you can purchase any amount of single tickets. Some rides have age and height restrictions for safety reasons. Following the route past this restaurant brings you to Jungle World, a smaller ride for the young ones, Also at this point is the toilets...

Advantages: Erm....... It's quite pretty I suppose

Hard to avoid it occupies a prime site and is usually Chapter One in most guide books. Hanging Gardens of Wellington

Advantages: Nice stroll, good plants
Disadvantages: Steep

...If you only can spare time to seek out one plant in New Zealand, it would have to be the most famous of all its plants - the silver fern. If, on the other hand, you are a nature lover and you find yourself with a free afternoon to spend in Wellington (New Zealand's capital city), then I strongly recommend the Botanic Garden for its plants, scenic views and pleasant strolls. For everyone else, I'd still recommend it, but only after you have taken your fill of the Te Papa museum (which is my number one "must-see" recommendation for Wellington). The gardens span some 25 hectares and if you are anything like me, they will fill as much time as you have to spare and then some. People with bad knees or small children be warned though - it's pretty steep and you may struggle a bit! There are some mobility scooters available though. I came here...

The Spice Garden - No Garden, Plenty of Spice

Advantages: Light airy conservatory, pleasant service, good value for money

...Another week brought another visit from my hungry curry-loving colleague Joep. I had no plans for the evening and asked if he wanted to have dinner. His eyes lit up; "Can we have curry?" he asked excitedly. And so at around 6.30pm we left the office to go in search of a new curry restaurant that we'd not tried before. I'd spotted the Spice Garden on my way to work that morning and decided that this time it would get our custom. The world (well the UK anyway ? and India, Bangladesh, Pakistan etc?..you get what I mean) is full of curry restaurants and in the middle of a recession we should spread our pennies around and try to support a new one each time until we run out or get food poisoning. A garden to die for!

...The Alnwick Garden in Northumberland is a really lovely place to visit, as I discovered recently when in the area. I had decided to visit on the recommendation of a friend who had recently spent a day there, and had spent quite a while telling me about it afterwards. Gardening for Wildlife
