It's a big TV!

Advantages: Great design, full HD 1080p resolution, 2 HDMI inputs
Disadvantages: Sound is so so, channel navigation and info disappointing

...it the first thing that hits you is the sheer size of it - I used to think my 32" TV was a reasonable size but in comparison to the x2000 it looks like a toy TV! The x2000 is about 6cm thick and the supplied stand about 30cm thick. This set really does take over the room and brings a whole new meaning to 'home cinema'. Having said that, you'll be surprised how quickly you become accustomed to the size - I now don't really notice it at all. Disadvantages: Be careful about Mr Dust and Ms Lint when switching lenses. There is no real safe way to clean the CCD except for a blowoff can or bulb.

Why the W series?

Advantages: huge screen, excellent quality, symbolic tv, 1080p panel, 8ms response, 8000:1 contrast...
Disadvantages: vga input maxes out at 1366x768 and not 1920x1080 :( price, sound's not that good.

...Sony's KDL46X2000 was the TV everyone had to have...I almost purchased one myself...until I saw this beauty! The KDL46W2000 has all the benefits of the X series (Read - 1920x1080p panel!) with more of the cost of the V series! It seems to me the only difference between this TV and the X2000 is the BRAVIA version...The X2000 has the BRAVIA EX engine, whereas this one has the "Standard BRAVIA". I presonally couldn't justify the extra £500 for the extra "EX", so I ordered this instead. I bought it from Digico for £2100 about a month ago. When it was delivered i was totally bemused by the sheer size of the thing! Upgrading from a 29" 4:3 Sony Super Trinitron HiBlack (which isn't small itself!)...the power to turn heads...well...this TV is mesmorising to say the least - even when turned off! Hauppauge MediaMVP - networked media player

Advantages: Good picture and sound quality, easy to use
Disadvantages: Cheap looking

...cannot play tracks based on genre for instance. I next tried the JPG viewing functions. My collection of JPGs are in a wide variety of sizes up to 3000x2000 and all were scaled to the TV's resolution with no problems. Indeed, the lack of flicker when the higher resolution ones were displayed was actually better than when displayed directly via some of the cameras used to take the images. Finally, I tried some MPEG1 and 2 files. The quality of playback here was truly impressive. The video quality was extremely good with no hint of jumps or artifacting. If your PC also includes a PVR (Personal Video Recorder) type card or you have some files ripped from DVDs, you'll be very happy with the results when played back through the MediaMVP. I was less impressed by the limited range of playback formats but Hauppauge do seem to be regularly improving...
