TNT2 or M64
Review of Creative 3D Blaster Riva TNT2 M64 by  thepanther

Advantages: Capable card
Disadvantages: expensive compared to the geforce 2 MX and its quality

...The TNT range was always pitted against the more popular voodoo range of cards all the way to the Voodoo 3. The TNT range provided an alternative and often the cheaper option for most people. Nvidia released this version of the card after the Ultra version. The TNT2 Ultra was a great card but it fizzled out when the Geforce card out. Now Nvidia are selling the TNT 2 M64. The M64 is Offering Value to its dated power and performance. Not to take anything away from the card. Its chipset was among the best, but it has to be set in the budget market now. It could also do with being dropped in price. I did think up to a certain time last month that the M64 offered a cut down to the TNT2, now I am not so sure if that is true. I have checked the specs of the cards at Creative's website and was somewhat surprised. It turns out... Read review

TNT 2 M64
Review of NVIDIA TNT2 M64 by  CyrixDes

Advantages: pretty cheap, 32 Mb memory, can get a PCI version
Disadvantages: slow for todays games, can get much better cards for not a lot more money

...This is a video card that was based on Nvidia's reasonably popular TNT 2 chipset. I personally never reall rated the chipset but I do know people who thought it was quite respectable in it's time. The M64 version that I am talking about here was and still is available in 16 Mb and 32 Mb versions. The M64 after the name means that its a cut down version so a TNT 2 M64 is cut down on the original TNT 2 chipset. It still does a respectable job in most applications but im afraid that todays latest games are a bit too much for it so if you buy one of these cards then don't expect miracles from it. Despite all this theres no need to slate the card too much because you can get them for around £55-00 nowadays and when you see that it is still quite capable of running games like Half Life fine then theres a fair old number of systems... Tnt2 ultra
Review of Creative 3D Blaster Riva TNT2 Ultra by  hwk106

Advantages: speddy
Disadvantages: date now

...I have had this graphics card for over 6 months now and it is one cool piece of Hardware. The drivers I use are the Nvida 3-84 available from http://www.reactorcritical.com/ they are very stable but not the fastest out there. The card itself is very small, the fan is very quiet and it was easy to install and setup. Supporting 32bit colour and some awesome gfx capabilities this is a must for any serious gamer who can`t afford one of the new range of graphics products. The card supports AGp 1. AGP 2 ports I have it running on a P2 300 AGP2 196mb and the machine is as fast. If you shop around you can get one of these cards very cheap.... Read review

Cheap, fast and compatable with everything
Review of NVIDIA TNT2 M64 by  cjkace

Advantages: Cheap, older so more stable, perfect for 15" monitors.
Disadvantages: Not quite cutting edge, not comfortable with high resolutions (beyond 1280)

...When I was building my new PC, from the ground up so to speak, I researched as much as possible and decided to buy a graphics card based on the nVidia Riva TNT2. When this chip was developed it quickly asserted itself at the top of the pile. Since then it has been superseded by the nVidia Geforce (and it's variants) and ATI's Radeon cards, but don't be fooled, it is still one of the most capable video cards available. Whenever I've read reviews of graphics cards the reviewers seem to dwell on what the cards can perform at their maximum and don't give any hints at what they are like in the real world. The card I have is a TNT2 Pro, made by a company called Leadtek and has 32Mb of onboard graphic memory, as well as TV-out. (Because it was the last revision of the TNT2 chip, before the release of the Geforce it will also run at AGP4x... Read review

Simply the best!
Review of NVIDIA TNT2 M64 by  skul

Advantages: Speed, price, manufacturers support
Disadvantages: Max 32Mb of memory - if it is problem for you

...If you like play games with complex 3D graphics (like QuakeIII) and don't want spend too much money - this card is designed specially for you! Good quality in 2D and amazing speed in 3D. And also you can choose from 4 models - TNT2 Vanta, TNT2 M64, TNT2 and TNT2 Ultra. I use TNT2 M64 for more than 6 monthes - and very pleased by it's quality and speed. In Windows applications, 3D games and MPEG4 video TNT2 works stable and fast. And it maded by real leader of 3D acceleratos market - NVidia. And now, with new drivers - Detonator 3 (download it IMMIDIATELY from from NVidia site) - this card works much better. So, if you can see difference in few fps or difference between excellent 3D or very excellent 3D - buy GeForce (for lot of money), otherwise choose TNT2!!! One disadvantage - support only 32Mb of memory, but show me the game... Read review

Review of Creative 3D Blaster Riva TNT2 Ultra by  SkyscraperFanClub

Advantages: A good card, handles Windows in 1024x768 with no fuss.
Disadvantages: Struggles with modern games, woefully underpowered by contemporary standards.

...In terms of pure performance, set your sights higher than the Riva TNT2. Buying a powerful graphics card is usually the preserve of games-players to whom I would have difficulty recommending this card given the other options available. That said, for less intensive computer users the TNT2 is a good choice as it is low cost yet reliable. The standard test of pure graphics power comes down to frame rates - the more frames your graphics setup can draw per second, the more fluid your picture is and the better the gaming experience. The graphics card works in conjunction with your processor to draw complicated bjects and assist in reducing these frame-rates. The bad news is that many other cards do this far better than the Riva TNT2. Take the 3D first-person perspective game Deus Ex, for example. At anything above 800x600 resolution... Read review

Cheap, but lacks power
Review of NVIDIA TNT2 M64 by  Dooyoo_Rules

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Slow

...The TNT2 M64 is the budget version of the TNT2 by NVidia. The TNT2 has since been superceded by both the GeForce and the GeForce 2, so it isn't exactly hot new technology. It is however a good budget option and beats the integrated Intel 810 or 815 graphics to the ground. It comes with either 16Mb or 32Mb of RAM, and features a 300Mhz RAMDAC. It comes in both PCI and AGP, with the AGP supporting from 1x to 4x. General Windows performance is good, and it is fast enough to support high resolutions at high refresh rates. Where it falls down slightly is games. It isn't bad, but it isn't good either. Brand new games are OK but can't be run in the highest resolution. A balance must be made between performance and looks, and if you've just spent a £1000 on a new PC you don't expect this. At only around £70 it is cheap... Read review

Speed and value
Review of NVidia Riva TNT2 Ultra by  yhwman

Advantages: Good value
Disadvantages: Not as fast as the latest models

...I used to have a TNT2 until I was given a Geforce and was very happy with it (Though naturally I was even happier with the Geforce). The TNT2 is a very fast card and was the first card from anyone to beat 3Df/x’s voodoo cards at their own games. 3Df/x have been on the defensive ever since. Now TNT2’s aren’t to easy to find, but if you are considering buying one don’t worry about driver support. Nvidia are still supporting the TNT1, never mind it’s successor. While it’s beaten well and truly by the Geforce, it does have some plus points. 1: It’s quiet, the geforce fan is very noisy. 2: It’s very cheap considering the current price/performance ration. If you aren’t after the latest and greatest then I recommend you get this card.... Read review
