THE BOOK The book has a very brief contents page which also incorporates the inside front cover, which is good news for anyone wanting to get straight into the makes without any preamble. In total there are 17 makes including: funky fairies, Fairyland Painting, Sparkly fairy wings, Fairy tiara and Fairy Collage. The makes are quite diverse, and whilst some are makes that can be worn, others are pictures, puppets or cards. So, there is bound to be something as the occasion demands. ...The Usborne activity book 'Cowboy Things to Make and Do' is a really practical and fun book to entertain small children for many hours. There are loads of different things to make including a Wild West wanted poster, a sherrif badge, a cowboy hat and a cowboy belt. All of these activities are given their own double paged spread and have very bright and colourful instructions to follow. There are also over 200 stickers but these donot seem to be related to specific activities. The instructions are all very easy to follow. They are broken down into very small steps and each step is generally accompanied by an illustration which helps your child to know exactly what he or she should be doing. The Christmas cooking section has some great ideas, and top of our list was the suggestion to decorate the Christmas cake with marzipan gift boxes. which looks really effective. Some of the ideas are really simple, such as making cup cakes and arranging them in a tree shape, but there are some, such as the shortbread, which I don't think we would do justice. ..."Unforgettable Things to do before you die" is the second in the BBC series, and another title which will appeal to the armchair traveller, albeit a slightly more adventurous traveller than the average "Places to see before you die" reader. That said, both books together make a great set, even if reading them cover to cover makes you realise that if you really want to see these great places and do all these great things, you need to get a move on! Lie its sister title, this can only be a subjective account of the best activities to experience in the world.
