Manchester - so much to answer for
Advantages: capital of the north, plenty to see and do
Disadvantages: same as in all big cities - just use your head
...Manchester is fast becoming known as the capital of the north and so I?ve decided to take the opportunity on this rather dull day in Manchester, to tell you all about some of its merits. I moved to Manchester just over 2 years ago to live with my partner from the sleepy Shropshire town of Shrewsbury. I?m now considered an ?honoury manc? by my boyfriend and his family and I?m very proud to say the least of my new heritage. Manchester today is a big place. While 2.6 million people live within its actual boundaries, over 7 million others live in the wider region, making it second only to London in Great Britain. Now that?s got to be worth writing an op about!

Agenda: None really the whole idea was to meet up, be merry and find out more about those famous reviewers we see on here virtually every day.

► The Key to Manchester ◄
Advantages: Great DJs, Music Variety, Very popular
Disadvantages: Cheesy repetitive adverts
...° General Information °
Key 103 is one of the most popular stations in Manchester -- and for a good reason. The station plays the latest music, not just that but old classics and songs which aren't as popular. There's a variety for everyone.
They have regular news updates every hour. This includes the latest headlines, which also includes celebrity news. The adverts can be extremely annoying because they're played so often but that's natural for a big commercial radio station. The station must be good considering they have beaten 270 other commercial stations to be awarded the IRN News Coverage Award in 2007.
The Key 103 website features a gigs section where you can buy tickets for the hottest venues. Not only does the station have competitions where you can ring or text in but the site also has a competitions section where you...

Super hotel in the heart of Manchester
Advantages: Location, staff, nice rooms
Disadvantages: Expensive
...I have had the pleasure of staying here on business on several occasions. My mother?s family come from Manchester so I always really enjoy visiting Manchester.
About the hotel:
The Arora Manchester is a four star hotel with over 140 bedrooms. It?s part owned by Cliff Richard and there are even five special Cliff bedrooms decorated with his memorabilia if you like that kind of thing! The location on Princess Street is also excellent as you are in the city centre and only 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly station if you arrive by train. It?s also about a 20-minute journey from the airport, which is also very convenient. The hotel doesn?t have it?s own car park but apparently guests can use the nearby NCP to park at a discounted rate.
First Impressions:
It?s an old fashioned looking building but it also looks quite grand. It is also...

Ruling in Manchester now too?
Advantages: reasonable price if booked in advance
Disadvantages: none really
...As with my previous recent reviews this forms a part of my need to get a life ethos, and even though I live a short distance from Manchester on a planned night out on the town I decided it was better worth my time staying over than drunkely seeking the nightbus home. So armed with my trusty cashback paying link to a hotelbooking site I found this one for the night.
I paid £50 for a doubleroom with no food included, the hotels standard rate is around £66 so a considerable saving especially given I only booked a few days before I wanted to stay.
The hotel itself is seconds from Picadilly Gardens which is the location of a large bus station and a tram stop which runs between the two main train stations, it is also a few minutes walk from the main Bus Station in the city where the National Express coaches stop.
The hotel has...

Radisson Edwardian, Manchester
Advantages: Location
Disadvantages: Expensive for just a room.
...Nice hotel and you do get a sense of actually gettinh what you pay for. That's probably because the rooms are quite expensive - if you just want somewhere to sleep during your weekend in Manchester. Would say its worth paying for as a treat to be in nicer surroundings but not worth paying for if you're not going to be in your hotel room long and just using it for somewhere to dump your shopping and get your head down after a night out. If however, you have money to burn and don't care what you pay. Its the place for you why not?
The rooms were stylish and impressive when you walked in - with floor to ceiling windows giving you a nice view - depending which side of the building you were on.
Central location just being off Deansgate, so close to everything including china town, city centre, pubs, clubs etc.
Nice if you fancy...

Guide To Manchester Part 2 - The Arndale
Advantages: Lots of shops, eateries and it is all very new at the moment after the refurbishments
Disadvantages: Stil lhas tatty parts, and outclassed by the Trafford Centre
...In 1996, Manchester City Centre fell victim to terrorism. The IRA bombed the city centre and left a massive amount of damage. Fortunately no one was killed, and very few were even injured, but the Arndale shopping centre was left a wreck on one side, and the large Marks and Spencer store was destroyed.
However, in the aftermath it was decided that the city would become bigger and better than ever, and send a defiant message to the IRA while we were at it. And so we did, the Arndale in Manchester is now far better in every way, and the Marks and Spencer store adjacent to it is Europe?s flagship store.
The Arndale itself is built in the heart of Manchester, and sits proudly along Market Street and Cross Street. It is set on 2 levels, and has a vast array of shops, eateries and so forth to keep you going.

Martins Guide To Manchester - Part 1
Advantages: Not far off being as good as London, and it's cheaper
Disadvantages: Renovations make it a mess at the moment.
...OK. I have been thinking for a while what the content of my next op should be, and now I have decided. I am doing a guide to Manchester, my home city over several ops.
In this general introduction I?m going to look at what the city has to offer, but over the coming weeks I?ll be doing individual ops on lots of the city?s features.
Manchester really needs little introduction, one of Britain?s most famous cities and birthplace to some world-renowned teams and bands.
It?s a large city often referred to as the ?Capital of the North.? In recent years the city has seen massive developments, both forced and chosen. After the 1996 IRA bomb attack Manchester has taken on a new look, and it?s better than ever.
Getting There
Manchester is extremely well serviced by local, national and international transport. A 3 terminal...

Advantages: great team

Also Manchester united are one of the very few clubs in the history of the premier league to win the treble .Manchester united won the the tittle in 1907-08, 1910-11, 1951-52, 1955-56, 1956-57, 1964-65, 1966-67, 1992-93, 1993-94, 1995-96, 1996-97, 1998-99, 1999-00, 2000-01, 2002-03, 2006-07.

Our Days in Manchester
Advantages: Clean, comfortable, good food, handy for the hospital
Disadvantages: We had one or two problems - see review
...As those of you who have been reading my 'about me' information will know, we have recently had to stay in Manchester to be near my mom who had to go into Manchester Royal Infirmary for an operation, which never happened as she wasn't strong enough to survive the anaesthetic but that's another story.
As I had a lot of arrangements to make Dave decided to take over and find us a suitable hotel for the duration. He wanted to find something really nice but at a reasonable price as this was likely to be the nearest either of us would get to a holiday this year as I am full time carer to mom who has dementia.
Anyway after much searching he finally found The Days Hotel at the end of Sackville Street nearest to the Mancunian Way and thus nearest to the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

We decided to book a Work Zone...
