To rent or not to rent?

...This review is based on the experiences that I have had since renting through a letting agency, which I have been doing since Easter. But first off, just let me put you in the picture as to how I came to do this. I am 25, and have always been at home with my parents. Even during my nurses training I stayed at home, just for the simple reason that it was cheaper and so on... But a vacancy came up within a shared house that is only about 3 streets away from my parents, but is currently being rented out by some friends of mine. I actually get on well with all four of them, and so there was no trouble as to me being able to move in. Of course, this being my first time of moving out it felt great! Of course, my mum didn't quite see it that way but anyway. And so on moving in, I was given all of the details for direct debits etc etc...

...This review is on the joys of renting, which is great in some ways but not in others as we shall find out. When you are first looking for a property to rent, you do of course need to look at your current cirumstances in order to get the majority of what you want in one place. This is where common sense will come in, should you have any. Take for example the fact that you don't drive, would you want to be out in the middle of nowhere where the only bus that comes in is once a month to drop off a cleaning lady? Or, would you want your children living right next door to an unguarded cliff face? OK, that was a little too far fetched but you do get my meaning. Take in to account ease of access to work and facilities or shops etc; the kind of area you want to live in (is it as quiet as y ou are used to?), and so on. It just may well...

Advantages: Really uplifting and positive with great songs

Opinion Writer To Rent, Apply Within

Advantages: Don't have to worry about mortgage repayments, can be a stop-gap while saving up to buy
Disadvantages: Insecurity, high rent, awkward landlords, being at the mercy of someone else who decides where you live and for how long!

Always check the fuel gauge reading before driving away and if its not full go back into the office, so that a note can be entered on to the rental agreement. Seven years as an international rent boy

Advantages: advantageous in the short term, less capital outlay is necessary
Disadvantages: long-term you are throwing away money, no return on your "investment"
